  • Nice work, very cool.

  • Awesome!!

  • Where the original routine came from should not be the issue. It was obviously learned from the David Stone video. It is an exact handling which brings up the question "Where the hell did you incorporate your specific handling?" I hope by this time you have drastically improved on this since this performance. It's ok but some parts are rushed. This isn't extremely hard to pull off but if you are at this point in 2 days it definitely shows.

  • @joeyp1022

Yup, totally different now. Performing it on tour this year with my chain act. You can see the difference on my page. I keep these up to show progress, as I am doing this professionally now. Thanks.

  • always loved this routine

  • Please watch Hallucination- Clean to see how I improved this over the next year. I will make a current version ,(hopefully with an audience, damn release forms!!), soon.

  • So as part of due diligence....

  • I watched John Fitzsimmons Performing the "Sandsational" rope routine, and everyone said he did it justice, and he claims to have learned it from the man himself. So why is it in a completely diferrent order, with effects that are so different? I did not see him cutting ropes with his hands. I do not remember having people cut the ropes in my vid themselves. Sands may have been the first to publish the moves, but that doesn't automatically make him the author of every routine using them.

  • The credits on this video also say the music was "Kashmir" from Led Zepplin, but that isn't true either.

  • George Sands was a friend. He lived just up the road in Phoenix. It pains me to not see him credited. His rope routine is the Father of all rope routines. Guys like Daryl and Tabary graciously give credit where it is due as should we all. George is now tying knots in golden sash cords but he is not forgotten by those of us who knew him.

  • @AllanRasco I'm sorry it pains you, but I only credited this as to where I learned it. I have heard it was Romaric, Tabary, Stone, and now Sands. But I am also sure that it was probably done before then even. Magic and Ropes have been around, and available for centuries. And since rope was more commonly available than cards to the middle/lower class, I can almost assuredly say that if we all research even more, maybe some scroll, or hieroglyphic, we could find it there too.

  • @TheFrozenPalm Also the video was made after a few weeks of knowing anything about magic, let alone the credit system. I have since made a newer video of this effect, knowing that if you are unsure of who to credit, do not credit anyone at all.

  • @TheFrozenPalm And yes, I am implying that I mastered this routine in 2 days, after having done magic for a week or two. Actually most of my early vids were all that way. I guess I was just meant to learn these things eventually, or I gained the skills in an area, "other" than magic. ; )

  • This material is actually based on the work of George Sands - Sandsational Rope Routine. Look it up.

  • It all comes from somewhere right? I could say the philistines were the first to do this, with snakes. lol

  • good performace!

  • I really didn't care for the music.

Parts of this routine look very similar to Shoot Ogawa's

  • Yeah, that's YouTube. They pulled most of my music down.

  • It should look how I originally intended now that HQ is available

  • i'm sorry, but...this routine IS NOT from D.Stone.......... The original creator is Romaric, an other french magician... (it's in the credits dude... ;))

  • Not the credits where I learned it. And I think I must have learned it honestly, look at how it is performed. ;)

  • yep, you do the routine very well... but... I just wanted you to know that this routine is from Romaric... ;)

    see ya !

    Julien

  • thank you for the kind appraisal california magician. If you would like to see a more straightforward, close-up version of the effect, i have posted it on my channel. thank you for your comment.

  • I see alot of work went into this routine...

just know a true professional never stops working, working, working a routine... the more you work it, changes get made, shortcuts, ect... and before long it becomes second nature. You are on the right track, you have more on the ball than alot of magicians on youtube, dont let that go to your head. And dont forget to have a good time. Thanks for posting your rope routine!

  • I am posting a close-up t-shirt and finger-tip performance of this today. Drawn out and slow, I will make sure the effects hit.

Look out for my re-creation of the TNR Card "A Better Way", I have taken the Reformation, Reparation, and Torn, and I have taken out all of the hand covers, and in-practicalities. This leaves the same hard hitting effect, with any card, signed, and the least amount of cover possible. I have been working on this the last 6 months.

  • Knot entertaining.

  • I just perused your site. I hope you are not trying to be critical. I do not need to hide the rope behind my coat to do an effect.

  • have to agree man, that did looked a bit force. You techniques were quite smooth, except it just came across as handling the ropes a tad to harsh. Don't have to tug and pull at it, the ends will come off!!

  • Nice job but I find the effects a bit distracting and unnecessary. Keep it up.

  • An effect is a distraction.

  • im sorry but i have to agree, it stinked, the effects didnt flow and it did look force, i bet that if you took a slower paste and combine this routine with tabards you will have a kick ass show.

  • That was Bad Ass

  • hmmmm.... do think the solarization was unneccessary, but cool. Went a bit too fast. I've been doing ropes for a long time and it was kind of hard to feel the full force of each effect.

But the technique and execution was flawless.

Would LOVE to see this done in front of a live audience. Get back at me if you got footage.

    ~Smoothini

  • Thanks, I've seen your work. It's good as well. This was a demo, and I agree at this point about the solarization. I am do have another vid, (Monument Circle, Indianapolis), but I have been saving it for a DVD. I might have to post a few of those though....

  • cool...check out my documentary. I can't post the link here so I'll send it in your YOUTUBE messages.

  • I will. BTW I saw your video of Ropes in Japan, when I was thinking about moving there for awhile. That was before I even knew how to do anything magical.

  • Sorry I was using another channel when I posted w/ Eihtsics. I have 7 different kinds of channels. Sometimes they cross over.

  • ur rope routine was pretty wack smoothini no offense

  • ummm..... ok.

    what was wack about it?

  • hey man u`r good I like to do tricks to but that one looks realy hard... keep it up

  • that trick is one of the best, well done for pulling it off so well. i think i have an idea of how you do it but i wont tell ;)

  • Thanks.

  • what te hell with the bad quality?

what the hell with the sucky music

    good presentation

    you go waaaay too fast

i guess this is just for video speed, but please watch the dvd again and try to sink in th effects

its wat too carony with your shakes and waves and throws and whatever

  • It was shot with a Canon XH-A1, you are probably referring to the solarization effect. It is meant as a back ground video. There was no need to slow down, and patter-up. I do that on the DVD, I did not understand the rest of your comments, except to say that "Kashmir", is great for this effect.

  • very good!!!!!!!

  • Hey, thanks. I will do a search on it. Let me know if you post more. I would love to see them.

  • Hey Thanks, I've only been doing this a couple of months. I am about to release a ton of new vids with more elaborate routines, and I'll be laying the patter on thick!

  • Surprised nobody has commented. I really liked it man. Good work. I am struggling with my rope ticks my friend. My slide of hand is very good, and my card art is nice, but the rope thing is just another dimension for me. Any help? Lol.

  • It took 2 days of non-stop practice. Get david stones vol1 dvd. it helped me alot.

  • Thanks.
