That is a beautiful place, would love to have a look and feel there. So many beautiful buildings and the water everywhere, think this is a great place to visit in early spring. A little less cold and a bit more blossom perhaps to make pretty pictures. Are the museums open during wintertime? Thanks Chris, I really enjoyed this video

Thank You so much Chris for sharing this Truly Amazing Video with us!!!! I hope they will be able to stop the rising water's from distroying this remarkable City. I found Venice "BreathTaking" ..Thanks again for posting!!:)
Thanks again as usual, Chris. I always look forward to your videos. A nice break in my work-a-day life. I don't get to do investigations much anymore so I have to live vicariously through others films! Ha Ha! Take care my friend!
Such a shame, nothing has seemed to have change in Venice since i was last there in the late 80's, the shear beauty of the place was marred by the appalling smell(its still truly medieval in some places) and crushing throng of tourists who'd knock you flying in anticipation of buying a cheap costume mask...i'm still gonna pop in for a quick visit next year tho whilst on my way to Rome.
How do the Venetians 'intend to lower the lagoon'? Raise the city perhaps but the sea won't be getting any lower...This also points out the plight of small Pacific island nations whose land is also being swallowed by rising sea levels worldwide.
"How do the Venetians 'intend to lower the lagoon'? "
Simple idea - You build a boom across the lagoon and then drain the water from around the city. That`s how. Unfortunately the concern is that human waste will be trapped inside the boom and not being flushed back into the sea.
This time of year is usually the flooding time, fall/winter. I thought that the sewage problem was addressed years ago! I went there at the end of summer (years ago) & there was no hint of a sewage problem then. It's disheartening to hear that the city is being abandoned. It does look more ragged than I remember it but it still has not lost it's charm or grandeur. I walked the streets every night & thought that it had a lot of spirit. Went to a concert @ Fenice before the Mafia burned it.
Before going to Venice I was told the sewerage problem had been cured too. But being there, there is definitely a whiffy pong in some parts, and it isn`t seaweed.
A recent report by independent scientists claims the lagoon waters are infected by harmful bacteria - caused by sewerage, and that citizens are still forced to tip effluence into the canal. The new tidal boom might also be a problem as the Adriatic flushes out effluence on the tide. A boom across the lagoon will keep it all back!
Wow, more problems than I thought. It seems to be a catch 22; the cure for one problem will only exacerbate the other. The sewage problem sounds much like the same type of problem that people with septic tanks have when it rains too much, only on a way grander scale. Very sad.
The greatness of that which was once great is still visible to the spectators eye, although tide wasted buildings do little to project the fantastic greatness of the city in it's past glory. I hope not all is ruined for the tourist who are yet to visit Venice. Surely the ghost spirits are there but inaccessible without a guide. Short visits excuses any discoveries that you might have made in the range of spirits. Excellent presentation of this part of a grand old city's water ways.
Thanks Dabe:) Our 24 hour visit simply wasn`t long enough to thoroughly look for paranormal stuff, but the City is always beautiful whether it be day or night.
Water, Water everywhere. Untreated sewage and human apathy, nothing nowadays is left untouched by people. Beautiful old city and very informative video. Thx for bringing us along on your travels. Happy Christmas and a great New Year to you also.

traditional carols. Classical music
sounds more like Christmas.

The repetitive flooding is putting many people off renovating, and now the city needs immediate action to help it. Let`s hope it happens soon! :)
Hope you and your family have a great Christmas.
