Inafune said himself that Zero wasn't the one who finished off Megaman and Bass and all of them (though I'm not sure who else would have) before transitioning to the X series, but at the same time Zero was the same guy who beat the shit out of Sigma; but that was also because Sigma came looking for him.

I'd say Zero is more Hostile than anything. Not evil; Zero was programmed with the Virus in terms of combat and that W on his headgem controlled his actions.

@Square45114 Capcom has never confirmed what happened to the original cast prior to the X series. Wily did create Zero. This was confirmed in Bass's/Forte's ending in Rockman 2: The Power Fighters. But until capcom says how he dies, we will never know. The idea that MegaMan is killed by Zero was propogated by Dave Anez who made the comic "Bob & George" (believed to be the 1st ever sprite comic). That was fan-fiction.

Zero Story in My View:

Dr. Light created X not to replace Mega, he made X to try and build a robot that truly could feel, that was what he always wanted in life. Light knew the world wasn't ready for X, though, and sealed him away until he was needed in the world.

Wily made Zero, a super robot that far surpassed Mega, in secret. Wily underestimated Zero's abilities, and deemed him too dangerous to be used. Sealing him away so that he, Wily, wouldn't be alive when he was released on the world.

Zero and X are reploids, but are different from the normal reploids, being that they never were designed to be reploids, they were designed as super-robots.

It could be anything simple like Mega Man just being powered down, or it could be something crazy such as Vile's identity being Mega Man, still trying to prove he is poweful.
