I saw the original Fiorello on Broadway and have long regretted that this great show was not made into a movie! Terrific, clever, tuneful lyrics, with "Politics and Poker" (along with 'Little Tin Box') outstanding...both brought standing ovations on Broadway!
Oops! I forgot to credit the artist Marc Dennis for the pix of his wonderful oil painting, "The Shroud of the Clown of Turin" at the end of the vid. Google Marc Dennis for more examples of his excellent work.
Vig- You Nailed It! Bravo!!! And I totally remember these lyrics-comes from a childhood of rejecting nursery rhymes in favor of B'way musicals. Btw, doesn't Richardson bear a certain resemblance to Tom Bosley (Fiorello LaGuardia, mayor of NYC, in the orig. cast)? "... Some qualified(???) Republican who's willing to lose..hahahhhh!!
Good to know, too bad I'm in NY ;(

I agree, Fiorello would be a great B'way revival for the '08 campaign.

Great work! Hate to think about the queen of clubs who's married to that joker getting in. Anyone giving odds on Pawlenty being the Republican Veep?
