my ps3 works fine with the new firmware 2.52? i had to udate it to continuing playing resistance 2,only thing i can thing i can think of to fix your problem and the guy ubove you,is try reformatting your ps3(doing this will erase anything u have saved on ur harddisk)and re-update 2.52 firmware and it should work! hope i helped
from your ps3 menu,go to "systems settings" and then go to "restore ps3 system" then click on "yes" and your ps3 will be restored the way it was when you first bought it,then download the new firmware,hopefully it will fix it! good luck man!

depending on what internet provider and modem you have,effects the downloading speed,mine took about 7 minutes to download and i was back playing resistance 2!
my internet provider is is through "qwest" and its wireless through a modem,i have a laptop so thats why it wireless,the ps3 has a wifi built in so it will pick up the signal through my modem,if you have dial up,thats probably why its so slow? you have to have some kind of broadband speed internet to keep up with the ps3's processer.alot of people dont realize how powerful ps3's processer is,its very powerful,its way beyond what the xbox 360 has in its console!
omg! u have the exact same problem as me. but mines worse. only 10% after 40mins! this happens to all my updates, even downloading demos takes ages for me, its something to do with the connection, hey whats your psn? i have cod4 too lol

it must have messed your control up? you might have to buy another control or barrow one from a friend so you can do what you need to do.
