Is it the year 1828? No it's not. It's the year 2009. And it today's society to be a good person means to be honest, loyal, respectful, and generous. Not godly.

Webster's 1828 Dictionary: "Good" = 4. Having moral qualities best adapted to its design and use, or the qualities which God's law requires; virtuous; pious; religious; applied to persons, and opposed to bad, vitious, wicked, evil. (And by the way, Good derives literally from the word God. Just like Devil derives from the Doer of Evil, or D'evil. It's old English). Have you ever invited the Spirit of good to indwell and rule your heart, and evict the spirit of evil? Good is a person.

This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. 1 John 4:2-3

Well that's what it meant back then 200-300 years ago but in today's society, it means to be a kind, honest, generous person. Not necessarily christian. If you believe that only christians can be good people then you need to get out more often.

Good people means good people. Good means (literally) Godly, from its origin in Old English. If you're Godly, then you're good. If you're ungodly, then you're not good. God is (by definition) the origin of goodness.

I'm sorry, i wasn't going to say anything until i read the words "good people" which i'm assuming you mean christian people. I don't mean to sound disrespectful but if you think that only christians are good people then you have a lot to learn and need to get out into the world. Many of the nicest people you will ever meet are not christian and perhaps some of the meanest people you will meet could be christian. Don't judge a person based on their relgious beliefs.

Iowa courts enforced what their constitution believes in. They are affording all their citizens equal rights and protections. They are not discriminating a minority and allowing the majority to vote rights away. IOWA you rock!!
