  • Ohhh, this is wonderful! Dickie and Eric were great friends and it shows. I've been looking for this ever since I saw it as an enchanted little girl. Thank you!

  • Got anymore of this ? i believe later in the programme Eric gets Dickie Davies's hand stuck in the corner pocket, whilst playing snooker, i believe eric tore the cloth as well ! sheer brilliance

  • God Bless Eric Morecambe! Sadly missed.

  • Eric Morecambe and Dickie Davies were great friends. You would never see this sort of thing on British TV these days. Tv takes itself far too seriously these days, alas.

  • Life was much simpler in those days. We all looked forward to Eric & Ernie's christmas show. These days i just want christmas over and done with and to get back to work.

  • Eric Morecambe, a genius. Totally childlike but with a quick wit.

  • From a time far away when you had to be funny and talented to be on tv. Unlike the shit we have to suffer on tv these days!

  • @salfordred1000 Well said mate!, modern tv is garbage!

  • I remember Eric being on this when I was a kid, and I doubt it was as early as '75. Love them both. Dickie Davies is a hero.

  • Eric & Ernie. Just phenomenal comedians. Eric having a ball alongside his mate on this off-the-wall episode just illustrates what we are missing on TV nowadays.

  • really funny

  • What has Morecombe got in his jacket pocket?

  • @emmyjo720 its a handkerchief

  • I loved Eric Morecombe, just loved him.

  • "Oh WHAT?" Classic Eric!

  • Eric Morecambe.Genius

  • Absolute class so funny.I saw a programme a couple of years back that showed more clips of eric on world of sport, i think it was called 40 greatest christmas shows.

  • Brilliant -takes you back. SO, it WAS 1977, amazing. Yeah, I can remember seeing it live. Dickie Davis was a great sport. Great to see that someone has put the Eric and Ern Texaco ad on with James Hunt too.

  • Thats a great vid to post. Nice one.

  • anyone know when this was? judging by dickie's appearance i'd guess 1974/5?

  • Hello mate it was 1977

  • thanks a lot :)

  • Hi kingsroadBLUES!

Have you got anymore of this?

  • They say making people laugh is the hardest job in the world and yet Eric Morcombe made it look so easy. These clips demonstrate the mans a GENIUS. He may have died 20+ years ago but he still lives on in our hearts. May clips like this last forever. We Love you Eric!

  • God bless you Eric. A Complete original!

  • That's so funny it made me laugh out loud! And I haven't lauged out loud since my ex-married-boyriend dumped me (again) for the second time last Wednesday. I'm a beautiful woman, IT'S YOUR LOSS!! RIP Eric Morecambe!

  • @UKSazzy67 if u still dumped....let me know....i like a beautiful woman...i'm married tho but live alone...confused????

  • Thank u eric (and ern) for giving us so many great moments. Also thank u to the inventor of videotape as its because of them we can still view legends like this.

  • Love Eric at 0:35!

  • waaaaaheeeey......arsenal

  • I remember this so well. I was about ten years old. Eric was so funny.

Do you have anymore of this ?

  • Now that's what I call "Entertainment".

  • i'm not sure what's funniest, Eric or Dickie's shirt and tie hahaha

  • morecambe and wise unbeatable,legends

  • They're like two favourite uncles who came to your mum and dad's Christmas party in the mid-seventies and had a little too much Watney's pale-ale..

  • A true comic genius and a legend in his own lifetime. Well done Dickie Davies for being Eric's foil on this occasion.Great entertainment!

  • I first heard about this on some Christmas Specials compilation show last month...

What a thing to stumble across back in the day.

Would LOVE to see the whole thing

  • Many think this was done for a Xmas tape (a series of outakes and contrived performances to be enjoyed by TV staff). In fact Eric and Dickie were great mates and had been out for a few on a Friday night, with Eric staying over. He asked if he could appear on WoS the next day and Dickie agreed (although it is not noted what LWT management said!). This entire episode was transmitted.

  • please has anybody got this on video somewhere.funny has fuck.

  • jeff stelling,legend,dickie davies,icon,eric morecombe,different gravy,genius,rip mate

  • LMFAO

    Eric is a legend!

Love the man, fucking love him.

His face at 0.37 makes me laugh so much.

Go on my channel, i have loads of vids for Morecambe & Wise

  • There is also a scene with Eric wrestling with Dickie with a hankie between his glasses wish someone could put that clip on. Its on the same show from 1977

  • Eric and Dickie got were good friends in real life.

  • Eric Morecambe.......Fucking legend.

  • Well said todays lot don't even come near to Erics talent.

  • grew up with eric&ernie being the top comedians on tv,no-one could touch them-eric,s style of humour was his own&therefore could not be copied by other comedians-that put him in a league of his own-his "off the top of the head"one liners will ALWAYS leave this great guy sadly missed.

  • Yes, Chris Evans: we're talking about YOU!!!

  • crazyclive-tell me more.

  • In his early years, Evans performed in the style of Morecombe, notably on Channel 4's "Don't Forget Your Toothbrush", where he sang 'Bring Me Sunshine' at the end of each edition, as well peppering his delivery with lots of Eric-style "way-heeeys!".

  • yes-forgot about that

  • Vic Reeves used to do a spot-on Eric tribute, he did it on Big Night Out.

  • I think Lee Mack's impersonation is the best I've yet seen - he's too skinny and the rest of his standup is mediocre, but his Morecambe is spot on.

  • There's a whole show of this - someone be messianic and put the whole thing up, please!

  • and Bermuda- OHHHHH WHAT!....

Don't know why but I love that, cool bag trick also.

  • Fantastic clips, many thanks for sharing, would love to see the rest of the show, you have'nt by chance got the whole show?

  • Brilliant. I remember watching this as a 10 year old. God bless Eric and Ernie. Comedy was so simple but so funny back then.

  • magical. Yes, it was xmas eve 1977, the night before Eric & Erns legendary last show for the beeb.

  • Bloody funny!

  • at a guess I would say this was from 1977

  • cool. those were the days......im only 35!
