@randomvidzforuknowut I have 2 currently and they can take 3-5 hours to heat up initially when new. You have to realize that the heat only comes from a small 40 watt Appliance Bulb underneath, and the glass that contains the colored water and "lava" material is very thick and needs time to warm up. They are manufactured this way on purpose to prevent problems with the lamps during shipment. Once your lamps reach the correct temperature they shod be ok. :)

@jwatsonjordan thanks for ur suggestions :) ya i figured out what was wrong with it there was a wire sticking up in the lamp so i shook it and the wire went to the bottom of the lamp again and then the lava started moving

I must give some advic for you:When i bought it it came with a 15 watt bulb which didn't move the wax at all!Then i bought a 25 watt bulb but is was still weak so after a few days a finally bought a 40 watt bulb which make my lava lamp look like yours when is hot.So,if you were concerned because the lava is moving too slow,you must check the bulb,it must be at least 40 watt(but not more than 50),that's all

@mereublne so it said to mine but i put 40 watt and nothing happened...it worked normally but i realised that 40 watt is a little too much...after about 2-3 hrs the blobs stay at the top,they don't move...but is still better with a 40 watt if you keep it on for 1 or 2 hours...

@wackymaus75 or it might be too hot lava lamps are based on the convection currents in the the tube the less dense warm "lava" rises to the top while it cools there and begins to become more dense and sinks back where it warms up again and the cycle continues

its essentially a lightbulb heating it up, the longer you run it, the hotter it stays, the shorter the life of the bulb.

These look like those "knock off" lava lamps. They are not manufactured by the genuine company. I recommend only buying from the original company, they are the best quality

I disagree, I have had nothing but problems with the Lava Lite lamps, Lava not flowing properly, over heating, Lava coming off coil at the base. Where as these lamps have a great flow to them, I recommend Mathmos lamps, they are still hand made in the UK and not imported from China.
