There's a line in an episode of "Seinfeld" where George Costanza wants to watch the movie: "Breakfast At Tiffany's", instead of reading the book, for the book club he belongs to.
He calls lovely Audrey Hepburn "A Delicate Flower." Even tho the line is played for laughs, it's a great description of what she actually looks like.
Natalie Portman and Jennifer Love Hewitt remind me a little bit of her, but on the other hand, there's NO ONE quite like her, is there?
If they were to remake Breakfast at Tiffanys who would play Audrey Hepburn??!! BUT by any means can no actress replace such a classic, original, and beautiful woman.
This woman is so pretentious and gold digger! really? She had to look at the gold and diamond even when she is eating breakfast when she has no money to afford it?
@jdengsky You have to watch the movie if you havent. It's so funny, because she is indeed that lame, until... she falls in love, and her life becomes a different story. Women who are all alone in the world try to make up for their fears with more void. I have been there myself, we all might have at some point. It's not about the bling or the dresses, its about feeling safe. So you look for safetyness in all the wrong places.
@jdengsky And it does work out for you to some degree, until you fall in love, and you cant help but wanting to be with his broke little ass forever, because you have found your treasure, your "Huckleberry friend", and Tiffany's no longer serves a purpose lol... ;) This movie explains the whole process very well. Women who marry for money are simply women who got tired of waiting for the real treasure, for Huck, or stopped believing that they could find him at all, at some point.
@xCowsCanFly enter "breakfast at tiffany's" at Google and see the online choices, OR the DVD is available (use the SHOPPING option on Google) at many locations. See it! Happy New Year to you too!
@britishjack The dress was auctioned at Christie's in London. It went for $923,187. There's even a wiki about it Black_Givenchy_dress_of_Audrey_Hepburn.
@mustangred I already have. I have a similar dress, that was designed to replicate this Hepburn dress that I got from Givenchy in Paris. My Givenchy dress certainly lightened up my "entire sad life" to be honest.
@mustangred Honey, my dress might not be the actual dress but i can still say "I have that dress". Its by the same designer after all. Your just a little jealous and bitter and it wont hurt to admit that i barred you from your first comment :)
@mustangred And like i said before, my "replica dress"certainly enlightened my then "sad life"you keep on insisting. Thank you for reminding me babe, i almost keep on forgetting.
This opening is so memorable. Just hearing the song gives me goosebumps. Breakfast at Tiffany's remains one of my most cherished movies. LOL, I even did a college essay on the symbolisms in this film. Love Audrey Hepburn. She was perfect in this role.
i love older eras. they're just better in everything than today's. the movies, the songs, the fashion, Miss Hepburn... entropi is proven to be increasing! degradations! ;))))
I remember renting this on video in 1993 a few days after Audrey died...I felt tears come to my eyes and I don't cry over movies but once a decade. Thanks for remiinding me of this beautiful actress and this music.
I wish to all of you, your family and friends,, to the strangers and to the lonely people Comfort and Joy! I wish you to have a Merry Christmas!!! May God always help us!
Fifty years later her look and wardrobe are completely perfect. Hepburn could walk out of a time machine into 2011 and still be absolutly fabulous without getting a laugh. If you went back 50 years from 1961 it would have been 1911, and I don't see the fashion from that era being transferable into the 1960's.
The music in this is so nostalgic. Even though I haven't watched this until recently, I've known this song since I was a small kid. It's making me cry.
this is the first time i have ever watched this, as i never actually knew Breakfast at Tiffany's was a film, until i just read it on Yahoo. its not a film i would want to watch to be fair, as i do not like chick flicks (as this looks like one of them).

It was a very difficult scene for Audrey to do despite how simple it looks. It turned out to be her most famous scene of all her movies!
50 years ago, Dad took Mom to see "Breakfast at Tiffany's"... Mom loved that movie. Mom met Dad in Cincinnati in the 40's. She was from Maysville, Kentucky and Dad from Sidney, Ohio. Cincinnati was a show business town then because WLW radio reached coast to coast. Every time I hear "Moon River" I remember how Mom loved that movie. Because of that, I do too.
I agree - it arguably is one of the best openings of any film. It also establishes Holly's character from the very beginning. Whenever she has the mean reds, she goes to Tiffany's. Absolutely wonderful. \
