I have a border collie/spitz mix and she is 50 lbs, has very pointy ears and the curled spitz tail. Your dog has floppier ears and looks like a regular tail. Not to say that it couldn't still have spitz in him, but I would wonder if he's not a border collie/australian cattle dog mix. Incidentally, the spitz are known for their "yodeling" (sp?) voices and are pretty vocal. I know my dog can make some funny sounds (and does often).
