  • Your diet is way too similar to the Montignac/Suzanne Somers diet. Eating fruit alone, as well as fat-free, protein-free good carb-only meals raises my blood sugar tremendously. I am sorry you repeated the aforementioned diets because I have failed on those because of this kind of fat-free or fruit-on-its-own meals. I agree with not condemning fats and choosing good carbs. Their combination is both delicious and healthful.

Have you read any of my books?! The Harcombe Diet came about trying to understand why we can't stop eating when we want so much to be slim. It's about 3 conditions that I discovered cause insatiable food cravings; how we got them and the perfect diet to overcome them. Montignac was the original GI diet (I don't mention GI anywhere) and goes no where near the conditions that I feature & I've never heard of S Somers. Please get the facts before spouting off :-)

  • @ZoeHarcombe Yes I have both the diet and recipe book. I like many of your ideas. However, your reply is irrelevant to my comment about food group separating/combining. I believe that combining good fats w/good carbs aids weight loss by stabilizing blood sugar. You say that instead the body will use the carbs and store the fats. That's what Montignac type diets advocate, and I find these meals make me very hungry. That's all!

  • Excuse me but I bought your book and it reminds me too much of the Montignac method, sprinkled with original research, I give you that. But my issues with the harcombe/Montignac/Somersizing diet (all three are extremely similar) are the following. One, do you not understand that eating fruit alone will dramatically spike your blood sugar levels? And two, eating fat-free, protein-free carb meals doesn't also raise your blood sugar? I agree about not condemning fats and eating good carbs

  • I've been told strawberries aren't good when You're on a diet.... why is that? ohh, I also wanna thank You for Your video on how to lose weight in 5 days, I can't afford to buy Your books but I've been following this diet n it's working great so far :) the first week I lost 6 pounds , now I'm doing night walks + diet n hopefuly I'll lose some more

  • guess what i loss 50 lbs eating fruit and cereal and tuna

  • Wow, you are right. I used to snack on fruit after dinner and feel really upset to my stomach. It made it hard to sleep, sometimes. Last night, though, after watching this video, I had my fruit right before my dinner and had a salad later instead of fruit, and I didn't get bloated. Thanks!

  • @ZoeHarcombe You mean it's easier for omnivores. Carnivores eat only meat

  • @BluefruitNMusicSnow

Ha ha - you're right! Nice one

  • lol wtf is this? hahaha

  • Hi Zoe, although I am doing well on my nutrition habit (which for all practice and intent is nearly identical to yours), I just looked around your website and I absolutely endorse the dietary information you provide.

Thanks for videos. I'll forward these to people I know.

    Best.

  • Hi there - thank you for your lovely comment and for your support

Very best wishes - Zoe x

  • Brilliant video my friends couldn't understand why i was avoiding fruit when it is always connected with being healthy. I can now show them this video! Really enjoying the diet- I find nutrition so interesting after years of being fed ready meals.

  • Many thanks for this! I'm going to a conference in Sept about "Fructose - the lipogenic (i.e. fattening) carbohydrate"! I'll share any learnings, but fructose may have a couple more things to answer for!

Eat loads of veg (potatoes are staple carbs, don't think of them as veg) and salad, but do watch fruit!

  • Grapes are terrible - like sugar balls!

  • Hey Zoe, I'm veggie too...you say the Harcombe diet isn't ideal for veggies...Do you follow it yourself?Any tips?

  • Hi there - The Harcombe Diet is just easier for carnivores (much as I hate to say that as a veggie!).

The ideal diet for overcoming the 3 conditions that cause overeating and overweight (detailed in the books) is a diet of meat/fish/eggs/veg (not potatoes)/salad/natural live yoghurt and some brown rice.

Veggies immediately have 2 large food groups on this list (meat/fish) off limits. That's the key reason it's easier for non veggies!

    Hope this helps

    Best wishes - Zoe

  • im on a diet and in school break time i would have a banana with a few grapes then at lunch time i would have an orange with an alpen bar is that ok or should i decrease the intake?

  • Hi there - many thanks for your other nice note. Bananas, grapes, oranges and Alpen bars are all things that low calorie diets tend to advocate. I would never recommend the Alpen bar (added sugar). You can have fruit in Phase 2 of The Harcombe Diet, but not that much - especially if you think Candida/Hypoglycaemia could be problems for you (see other VT's). I believe that carbs and insulin are more important than calories in weight loss and fruit is a carb.

Hope this helps - Zoe x

  • Hi there - lovely to hear from you and to hear that you're still doing well.

Just one thought (as a veggie myself) being veggie is actually not ideal for The Harcombe Diet! Meat and fish are real foods, so you are better off eating them (for weight loss) unless you can't bear to do so because of the animal considerations.

    Bye for now - Zoe

  • Hello Zoe, Thank you again ..for another great video!! To keep me inspired...I am still doing well, feeling fantastic!!!! leaning more towards vegetarian now....Thank you ....
