@mahballzrhari You're missing my point. If someone/friend no longer resonates, I ignore them. Move on. As to 'world conditions' economic or otherwise, I use some creative thinking. I'm not about to roll over and 'accept what is'?!
As an aside, I've yet to hear Eckhart Tolle talking about creativity. His teachings seem far too passive for me. And I live in a Buddhist country.
@carriemaizey I don't know. I am just a average guy in 20s who listens to Tolle because at times it lets me go off my resentments.I really didn't get a message of being passive in this talk more about letting go of the need to change people, conditions we truly can't. It's easy to say you ignore people who don't resonate with you but what if they're your siblings, parents, children etc we all can't just go our own way. you live with anyone long enough, you'll find something that doesn't resonate.
@mahballzrhari I have his books on audio. I agree he helps a lot with letting go of resentment. Resentment, like guilt and worry, are ultimately pointless. So I don't 'resent' any more. The Power of Now covers the way I feel about this in a Q&A format. I should listen again. BUT. ET is an aesthete, I am not, as are most of us, 'not'. So easier said than done.
As to siblings/parents etc, I don't have to resonate. I'm on the other side of the planet :)
@carriemaizey Ram Dass: "If you want to know whether someone is enlightened, talk to their family." They will show you quickly whether you are really walking the talk more than anyone else. And as for accepting the world the way it is, well, you can do your small part to change the world, but most of what happens we are powerless over. So we do have to accept 'what is' externally.
@squamish4244 What planet are you on? 'Talk to someone's family etc ... RUBBISH. I have a plethora of siblings and ET would fly over their heads.
And as for 'changing the world' (?) Where did I say that? We are all facets of the same Godhead and can only change/re align ourselves to smooth the way.
@carriemaizey I didn't say they would understand - mine doesn't have much of a clue either - I mean whether you are able to remain centered, focused and level-headed around family. These people are generally the strongest attachments/aversions in terms of other individuals we have in life, and therefore the best at pushing our buttons. Look at the lengths people go to in order to avoid their families. That's powerful aversion. As for Ram Dass - well, we disagree on him.
@carriemaizey Your own words: "As to 'world conditions' economic or otherwise, I use some creative thinking. I'm not about to roll over and 'accept what is'?!" I don't say that either. I donate to Amnesty International, but do I really think my contribution is going to stop the evils of the world? No. It will help a little. And it will do me no good to stay awake at night fretting. But I do know I can change myself, and if everyone did so, the world would change by itself.
@zagabel Technically you're right that it's perfectly normal to live in the now. The problem comes from our mental conditioning, which is like a thick veil that covers up the natural purity of mind. When the stream of thought stops, even for a few seconds, you can experience mental purity (and the present moment). Otherwise, you are seeing the world through colored lenses.
I have memories and aspirations. The difference is whether these thoughts come automatically/subconsciously or consciously
@zagabel : Actually, most people intellectualize the present moment at best. The stream of thoughts keeps coming, dragging us from one memory or dream to another. People are always tied up in these thoughts, and you can't experience the present moment until you choose to quieten the mind and JUST EXPERIENCE the circumstance you're in.
Anyone can say they "accept the present moment", but that's quite different from actually accepting it. This is the trap of intellectualism.
For the people who don't understand, or would mock Eckhart, I challenge you to take more than a superficial glance at what he has to say... Try it.. Really try it. Accept the present moment. Everything changes!!!
i dont know if this man is a doctor or not but what he said is of more use i think then all the advice i have had from doctors over many years. really this is not so different then the parable of the birds of the air
@jchien No thank you. You can keep your destructive doctrine, that lets time pass away more quickly. I want to get the most out of life, without joining any sects.
@Yaylin2 If believing in Jesus makes life more fulfilling, than that's great. But your freedom of religion shouldn't be about spreading hate. I don't believe Jesus ever hated anyone. This whole concept of the anti-Christ is a psychological projection, making someone the object of fear and loathing. It is emotionally unhealthy. I wish you well and hope that you will find your peace.
About disappearing into thin air... now THAT is your ego.... You DID make me smile with the blinking comment... I guess I was the only one! but I am happy because I smiled, I considered your comment, did not judged it and it did not affect me at all defending ET!!!!!!
Ego is a resurrecting-Self-de-constructor, keeps comming back for more delution.
Just when you think you got rid of it, it stares you right in the face. Fun with it... Dying seems to be an ongoing business of life, or did nothing ever live and is it already over? Is it ego that tries to appear alive, that would be the joke, again: fun with it.
13 Ego's disliked this video! It must have been terrifying to watch and listen!
