I completely agree, no one has a voice like Steve Perry, it's brilliant. He can rock us off our asses & then turn around & touch your heart so deeply you (or at least myself) can't help shedding some tears. Journey was/ix my bad, my boyz, their music still revs me up & Steve brought so much more to the table than a voice..he brought heart, soul, sincerity, beauty, joy, fun & awesome memories, to have that gift must be extraordianary. I wish he'd start again singing; music now sucks!
Why don't I recall hearing this in 94. Sure, I recall the album title. However, even as fan of his music since '81, I must have been oblivious to pop rock at that time he released this album. On hearing it just yesterday, it's become my instant favorite and a continuous queue, and have listened to it probably 80 times in the last 6 hours.
I have one more thing to say - the bridge where she dances alone in the darkness, I can't help but visualize someone who many years later even though doesnt have the love of her life in her life, only memories, dried up roses, she still can still feel what she felt in youth for that love doubt, wondering if she will know if he loves her as well. Just a thought, its a great song about staying gold. Love ya' Steve. Beautiful.
I love this song. Its compelling and if you really listen and feel the song and its words, well at least for me, its tugs at the heart. Because from what I can hear its a story about keeping your heart young. Not wasting time but enjoying every moment like it was when you first met that loved one when you were young. The ending "I remember, I rememberr" sound like Steve is aging his voice to portray someone wanting a chance to feel that youthful heart. Its brilliant.

This version of the song is different, especially, when he says toward the end, "No, no"
