@macinfloydvolk Homesick was not Elmore's brother...Homesick was born John William Henderson but later used the name James A. Williamson (April 30, 1910 - December 13, 2006)
what made elmores sound so special is homesicks bass playing
it added that extra that made their music have emotional content and sense of urgency most of the time homesick played bass lines as a rhythem guitar player as lot of blues bands did .brewer phillips played the same role for the hound. both brewer and homesick was great at both roles
This is great! It's silly comparing blues artists with each other, they all had influences and influenced others. BTW, I am the greatest Elmore fan sayin' that.
As i write this tears are falling .I played with Sick for a few years and was lucky enough to make it on recording. This was truly a fine man .He was like a father to me .I miss him so much
He was a great bluesman. I got a few records. Also made som great recordings with Snooky Pryor. He has his own style. Should not be compared to Elmore I think.
I used to drink with him in Nashville at the Gold Rush, then help him across the street and watch him "tear it up" at the Grapevine Cafe. he was quite a character.
Blues From The South Side - Maybe the best blues album I have ever heard - It is so unique, so blue and so groovy - every track is great - Homesick James is pure blues
Yes... That's a great album and it's not easy to find. I have three albums of his from the late 60's and 70's and they are the ones I value most in my collection of over 425 vinyl disks.

Billy, I agree with you. It's good to see someone not attempting to imitate Clapton or Robert Johnson.

I wish I could know more about those blues legends... You can find almost nothing in this small country.. What a performance
