@sarcasticduck44 Good point, I didn't think about that. Jacob's big thing is proving that people can be inherently good... but it seems like whenever Kate's been faced with huge choices in her life, she mostly makes bad ones, for really selfish reasons. (Except for taking Aaron, I guess.)

I've been going through all of the encounters thinking the same thing! I think he touched both Jin and Sun too at their wedding, so that might mean both are candidates.

Yup he did touch them both! Jack seems to have the gift but he didnt touch him in their encounter. He gave him a candy bar. So I guess if he gives you something it counts as "touching." He gave young Sawyer a pen too.

If you look closely, each character Jacob touches, he helps them on their path to the island. In this scene, he touches the clerk and he automatically obeys Jacob when he offers to pay for the lunchbox, which satisfies the clerk. He then makes Kate promise to never steal again. She agrees and Jacob touches her nose. I believe when he touches someone, Jacob can convince them on what he wants them to do.

Yeah, I think it was kinda a tongue in cheek moment cause they both knew she was going to steal again. Also, I feel Jacob was recruiting them for their destiny on the island. Jacob and his nemesis are playing a game of if people on the island can live in peace or bring destruction. The Losties are "just the pieces" as Desmond says. Jacob found these people special and wanted them on his side.

I think Jacob is the devil and he's going around recruiting the disciples, after all If it is all religious then God wouldn't go around visiting people he'd have automatic faith in them.

Luxfare666 - He cant be the evil one, whenever he is seen it is as himself. However his nemesis is always pretending to be somebody else (a deceiver). He convinces locke do die by pretending to be christian so he can take his place, he also probably lured mr echo to his death. Also, the nemesis said people would bring corruption and destruction, and also said that jacob was trying to prove him wrong.

I think Jacob and the guy in black or more resembled to Cane and abel, if cane and abel were immortal and powerful.
