cool video I was stationed in C battery 6/9 FA from sept 76 until april 79. I married my german sweet hart and have been back several times. And yes it has changed so much but if you want to get together with some old friends you might try military.com and put your old unit in there and you might be suprised to find that some of your old friends are members of this site.
My dad was stationed here from '57-'58.We last visited in 1989 and it was nothing like this. No car dealership row.It was still Army barracks. Wikipedia says it was closed in 1992. Are the barracks condos or apartments now? Here's a photo of him during maneuvers in Wildflecken (flickr.com/photos/kbreenbo/82784457/). How bizarre is it that my dad met and married my mom in Detroit soon after she immigrated from Germany, a few kilometers from Wildflecken (a hamlet called Tränkhof).
WOW what a ride, awesome video, thanks for the memories.....always wanted to see what Rivers turned out later in time...and now I know.....I'm glad our buildings on the quadrangle have passed the test of time......
I was stationed here for 2 years and a day with the Lance Missle Systems. 1982 - 1984. A Battery 3/79th FA. Hardchargers Baby!! Thanks for posting it.
GREAT video. I was stationed at Rivers 1989 to 1990 in what is building E. I also worked at the AAFES theater on post. I see it has been demolished with a few other buildings. What a change that area has gone through. Lots of build up now where there used to be a baseball field.
GREAT VIDEO !!!!!!! I was there in 84 and 85! I heard it was a car dealership. Can't believe how much it has changed. Plan on going back soon!!! Thank you so much !!!
Yes very nice, I was at rivers from 1983 to 1986. C-btry 5/3 SW. my son was stationed at friedberg in 2004 and took headstart at Rivers....Great times!!! I have added my return to Geissen to my bucket list..lol
Wow this is so amazing I am driving threw memory lane right now, I was stationed at Rivers barracks from Jan 1976 to Dec 1979 my unit was A Battery 6/9 field Artillery Bn. even tho a lot has changed I do see some thing that are the same. wish that I could find my old buddies from that unit.
You're welcome. I've lost touch with the guys I was stationed there with through the years but I have been looking for them and my old friends from Germany with no luck. I had some of the best times of my life in your country with my German friends. I wish I could visit there again and reconnect with them to see how they all are. die Sibylle Zahn, die Petra Vogel, der Martin, der Yurgen, die Maggie, und die Hiecka. Broast!!!
