  • thanks for this video! i probably would've bought this game for my mom f it weren't for this upload.

  • @mike101486

You're welcome, glad it helped :)

  • I was thinking buying this game, to get in shape..not for the scores or points.

  • @pnoyguitar

If you don't care about the points and scoring, you could definitely still get a good workout just by mimicking the moves. But if that's the case, I'd say maybe just buy some of the Zumba dance DVD's used on Amazon or something, and save some money.

  • yes the point is to move and dance. you can either fake movements by just moving controller and doing nothing so whats the point? or you can really work out who cares if it registers the movement. its always up to you to do it.

  • @daisylovesmoy

well, I care that it doesn't register the movement properly. That's kind of the point of having a game and controller --- if I didn't want that part to actually work correctly, I could have just bought some Zumba DVDs, right?

Yes, I can still follow along. Just demonstrating here that if like me, you expect it to follow your movements and score accurately, you will be disappointed.

  • xD this game is sucks :P

  • JUST COME TO MY ZUMBA CLASS! its more fun live, anyways. and tanya beardsley (the girl in that tutorial you did) is incredible. (if you are a zumba instructor, then you understood this comment.) i have the wii fit, and its pretty awesome, i am thinking about getting the zumba one next... but after this, ill see about spending the money.

  • The PS3 version looks the same as the Wii version. I do own the Kinect version and it's very similar except you don't have to wear a belt and you don't have to hold anything in your hand. tutorials are broken across all platforms. The way to learn the moves is to do the single routines, not the tutorials. the advantage of the video game is that you can have online multiplayer where you can hop into a zumba party and chat with people. The kinect version has up to 16 players per Zumba party.

  • If the whole point is just to follow, why not just get a zumba dvd? Video game should have some better components.

  • if you actually think about it, none of the movements on screen is what you were doing with the motion controller. IT WAS A TUTORIAL so maybe that quick motion you were doing with your controller was to speed up the tutorial.... just think about it....

  • @PhilliFlippy I see your point. Who knows, maybe it's an intentional "feature". However it is more than just the tutorial, the game itself does not register the controller movements accurately either. It's very frustrating.

  • I just wanted to say that I now have both the regular dvds and the game for playstation. No, the playstation doesn't always correctly register my moves. However, after I do a twenty minute routine from the game, I am sweating my butt off. When I do the 50 minute cardio party from the zumba dvd, I can probably get away with not showering right away - not that I would. I also have the Mel B game which is a bore. So... after trying a few different things, I think it's worth it in the end.

  • if you just wave the remote around with doing any of the moves

you still get a dance score how crap is that !!!!

  • @M19523 well it is just supposed to read movement(hips) I never care about my score I do it just for the work out and if you actually try omg you will sweat so much and be very sore the next day lol

  • great vid

  • I know your arm is strong though.

  • Yo should get a Kinect then if you really want to have truly nice fitness games.

Dance Central for example. Excellent game, it registers every single part of your body. LIke if you dont put your head right, no Full Points for you.

Zumba and the biggest loser are the likes.

    ]

The games make you drip sweat. Best video game I have ever owned. Now when I try to go back to my games that use the controller and I am like all bored. I want to pump it up!!!

  • @americanforthewin yeah, it does appear to be the best for this format. We already had a PS3 and a Wii console and the ps3 seemed the better option of the 2 for this game. I would really like to not need a controller, but weighed against the cost of getting yet another gaming system... eh. Not sure what to do.

  • If you believe this video game does not work then you are not motivated...The point of the game is to help you loose weight, or simply have a fun exercise. it's not to complain about how the remote"grades you". If the remote falls out and you've figured the whole "circle movement" thing out, then just hold it in your hand and dance anyway! the point here is to sweat watch and follow, yes Zumba is about mimicking moves. Eventually choreographies are somewhat memorized but they will make you sweat

  • @Robssesed

well, no, I don't believe that zumba as an exercise program or zumba as a video game doesn't work, just that this game is poorly designed. And the whole point of this video IS to complain about how the remote grades you. I like the zumba dances, just not the controller interface with this game.

  • @Robssesed oh yes, but the point of this video is to show that the game doesn't really respond well with the ps move... i'd rather go watch youtube than buy the game if sweating is all there is to it. you can have dance lessons on youtube that wont grade you anyway.... get it?

  • I really wish I would have watched this. I can't tell you how disgusted i am with this game. I read a comment earlier about compatible vs. required. My zumba says required... i actually played with a friend, where my friend was dancing and I sat on the couch.. I won.

  • @NPatel412 LOL :)

  • i just think your lazy , and as long as you move your working out , the whole point is to move your body !!

  • @jojuwa

I think you missed the point. but! thanks for letting me know that the fitness game that i bought to dance along with was intended to help me move my body. I would never had known if you hadn't taken the time to point that out. I'll try that next time and see if that improves the game design.

    /sarcasm p.s. it's you're not "your" :)

  • @dogsratsfishcats :) lol nice

  • @dogsratsfishcats

Actually, 'your' is right, otherwise it would say "the whole point is to move you are body' which doesn't make sense. But your comment in reply made me laugh a bit :P

  • @animalgirl156

You are right... in the second part of your sentence :) I was referring to the 4th word in that sentence, the "your lazy". My lazy what? ( Yeah, yeah.. I know, my lazy fat ass ) ;)

  • @dogsratsfishcats hahahaha...nice!

  • Boo... I have a ps3 and wii... it doesn't seem like there's really any reason to buy this unless you have an xbox. While some are saying you can still exercise to this 'game' without an xbox... the whole point of buying a game like this is that some people need a challenge to stay motivated otherwise you might as well just buy some exercise DVD's...

  • one thing........ KINECTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT VERISION AHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • it could have been done better. it's just lazy programming by lazy developers. they could actually check to see how your hips are moving and it be very accurate, but they just wanted to shove garbage onto the market.

  • I was excited to get this, but very frustrated after about 2 or 3 minutes, I HATE THIS THING! At first I thought that my arm was bumping it too much, but then I took the controller out of the belt to adjust it, and the chick on there started saying good job now lets go faster, and I was like what is going on!! I can't really explain how frustrated I became when I found out that she still kept going without me.

  • @davenportalberta

LOL, that's exactly how I felt :) I was really looking forward to getting the game, but wound up being very frustrated with it

I really like the way the Move controllers work on the Sports champ game so much --- such an improvement over the Wii ones, that I guess my expectations were set too high? :\

  • @davenportalberta Have you tried doing it without the remote? Example, start it when shes going slow, put the remote down till you get the steps, move it when your ready to move on and repeat? Might work..

  • that's why this was compatible with the move but not necessary to play it. it really seems like nothing more than a work out video for the ps3. your obviously not supposed to just sit and shake the controller. it's registering steps like a pedometer and if you can't follow those simple motions in the tutorial zumba my not be for you

  • @lqdust hmmm.... no. It's clearly not just move compatible. It's *specifically intended* for use with the move controller. That would explain the belt that is included, that provides a holder for said controller, and the fact that scoring for the game is provided not just by dancing, (which does nothing, and as shown in this video would not allow you to move past the first step in the first tutorial) but by *holding a controller* and moving. Perhaps you are thinking of the Xbox version.

  • @dogsratsfishcats if you look at the top of the game in the blue strip it says playstation move compatible. if you go to the ps3 website you will see they explain the difference between compatible and required(which is what it says on sports championship) compatible means you can play with or without the move controllers and there are several games coming out like this such as socom, and mag. the move controller is most likely working as a pedometer and counting your steps, & calories burned

  • @lqdust

    Fair enough :)

  • @lqdust

However it is true the actual dance routine part of the game will run without using a controller, just as if you were watching a workout video. But if you do this, you won't have a score and the benefits to the game that come with earning a score.

  • @lqdust

Really? "your" not supposed to sit and shake the controller? Damn I was really hoping to enjoy zumba by just playing along with my sweet wrist moves.

I was hoping it would be clear that I was doing that so I could demonstrate the correlation between the movement of the controller and the speed of the tutorial without having to block the view with my big butt. I thought I succeeded, oh well.

  • @lqdust

This video isn't for anyone who picks up the steps from the most basic to the most advanced in under one minute without any vocal instruction other than "That's great!" and "You got it!". I posted a link to the actual Zumba tutorial for the workout DVD's. That's how it should have been presented for the game, IMO. And those simple motions made clear by an instructor are simple to follow. I was concerned that others might want to know ahead of time, before dropping $40 on the game.

  • My wife is very interested in this game for our PS3. I was wondering if you have tried the Move attached to the belt yet? She really has her hopes up for this game, so I am hoping the actual gameplay with the Move in the belt is at least somewhat worth it. Since this is the ONLY video on Earth that has posted actual PS3 footage (not Kinect), I was wondering if you could demonstrate the game using the actual belt. THANKS!!!

  • @gerrylee23@gerrylee23

Hi... sorry... I don't really want to be on camera D: But hopefully I can help you out with a little more detail. I found the belt to be very cumbersome. The move controllers are kind of large and having it attached to my hip was very awkward, I'd keep bumping it with my arms, and also it is a tight squeeze into the pocket which makes it easy to hit the side button that pauses the game.

  • @gerrylee23 The belt itself, is very long about 50", and you can wrap around the extra and it secures with velcro. It's about 3 inches wide except at the controller pocket, which is a little over twice as wide. It's very light and has a slim profile... until you add the controller

The dance routines are VERY intense, I was surprised at the fast pace even on beginner, so it will provide a challenging workout for just about anyone. But the controlller/scoring, kinda pointless.
