Hey man, there is a 2002 near me and I am highly interested in getting myself one, what kind of gas mileage in town and on the freeway do you usually get?
no bells or whistles with these cars just a flat out nice dependble car with lots of power and speed considering how heavy it is. Eats up those corners like it's nothing! I have an '06 and LOVE IT! Highly recommended vehicle! And not to mention the overall durability of these cars! They are truly made to last!
@deadeye146 It was all all them. But you need to be nailed at around 65 MPH+ from behind for that to happen, so I don't think you'll ever pull over on a shoulder with your rear sticking out which is a habit police officers have.. They installed shields & later a fire suppressing system which immediately extinguishes the fire when it gets started. Part of the blame was also the gear officers had in the trunk. You don't here about the issue anymore.
I think any car will burst in flames if hit from behind at 70 mph. Crown Vics just get bad rap for it, because of amount of incidents involving highway patrol and rear collisions while they're parked on the side of the road..
@Intechdude300 I have two questions because I am from the U.K. The first question i have is are those ex Crown Victoria police vehicles good to drive? The second question is compared to what their price would have been when they were new, how much on average would an ex Crown Victoria police vehicle cost assuming the price has dropped because the vehicle has been used and has aged, etc? Thanks for uploading.
Lets use a 2003 Crown Vic (Ex Cop ) which has a decent interior & body without any remains of the decals & etc with 100,000 miles. A car like that would likely cost between $2,000 to $3,000. It depends on the mileage & condition.. Like this 200, I'd imagine in brought $2,000.
Driven them b4, The ride is firmer than normal, exhaust is a tad louder, they use a bit more fuel since their tuned for more power, transmission shifts are more aggressive, & the interior is quite basic
@Tubetheweb Ive owned several of the P71's. They ride firm, but its very nice and tight feeling, they really absorb the bumps. In 2004 they raised the horsepower from 230 to 250 horse and its noticeable, they will put you back in the seat. Price depends on a LOT of factors. Usually rather cheap, unless it was a detective car or supervisor car then it will be more. As an example lets say a 2005 with no issues and 120k miles, price would be from $3-$5,000. New they are about $28,000.
@crammage from that he drove his moms mercury sable (we all know nice yet unreliable those are ) then 5 months later got a pt cruiser, (p.o.s!!!)
after a year repoed and luckily after the PT went bye bye
i found him the 1996 lincoln towncar and he only paid $1550
i really really wanted him to get a buick park avenue, oldsmobile 88/royale/Lss, or Pontiac Bonneville because those get 19 city 30 highway vs 15 city 25 highway in 4.6 ford (towncar marque crown vic)
Here in Dallas the police stopped using Crown Vics years ago. They started using Impalas due to that exploding gas tank problem with the Vics years ago. Now they use Impalas & Dodge Chargers. The also use police package Chevy Tahoe's for the K-9 units.
@R8RFanSam ringtone has no special name, just Melody05. Built in ringtone to a pos Samsung t139 im using temporarily as another phone I had broke and im holding out for an iphone5 which will come out in the summer
It Illegal for me to hook people up with parts with my access to wholesale prices. I can recommend u a place in Miami that specializes in selling parts for European cars.
anything that ford makes is the best.. their cars last so much longer than lame toyota or even honda.. i had a friend who owned a ford e350 since 97 and made 490k miles on it until he sold it and bought a truck.. he didnt change his engine even once.. obviously he had to fix stuff in it (transmission etc.) but the engine itself is a factory one. so if you want a car that will last - no doubt FORD.
Neither of those would last a month under police duty pushing cars off the road with pit maneuvers, jumping curbs, crossing medians, constant WOT, & etc. With their BOF chassis which is almost like a truck in car form. And these things can easily do 400K without problem. For some reason, despite the Charger, Impala being offered, these are still the #1 popular choice despite there being better options.
@Intechdude300 Charger would not do good for a cop car. I know they use them, poor choice, the tranny could break at any time, so the cops would have to buy a new $4000 transmission after a month. The Impala's would do great though, they're solid cars.
The Impalas have actually been terrible with transmissions too LOL... Just look it up and most complan about issues around the 50K mark and others complain of getting rid of them early because of not withstanding the abuse.
@Intechdude300 The police force should use IS350's, reliable, under 50 grand, fast, awd, good handling and a very tight back seat to squeeze the fuck out of criminals! lol, plus the police can use the paddle shifters to get more control.
Lexus wont last out there doing pit maneuvers, jumping curbs, and definitely police forces here wont use anything but american cars. Maintenance & parts replacements will by threw the roof with Lexus Toyota they're 1 of the most expensive when it comes to replacement parts. For Example, 1 backseat headrest for a t 05 4Runner cost $495, an Ashtray for an 05 Rav4 cost $80 & thats at Wholesale cost which I have access to. I get parts cheaper for BMW & mercedes LOL
@etoyotarockshsucks Another reason why police won't use a car like that is the Lexus would have very little room for police equipment. I'm pretty sure the IS has a small trunk and police would need room to store their shotguns, spike strips, flares etc.
@Intechdude300 That means the new Taurus PI would be just as POS as the Charger and Impala if the Crown Vic is the best of them all?? They're getting rid of the Crown Vic this year and I just wonder how the new Taurus would hold up.
Its my curiosity too on how the Taurus will hold up. Crown Vics biggest problem was just being down on power. Yrs back I heard of a department who stuck in the 6.8L V10 from an F-250.... Funny how that engine is still a perfect fit under the hood.
@talldude123 the police version may but the regular one is the old land yacht that would float over bumps. they arent the fastest they do 0-60 mph in about 8.5 seconds which is decent. they are one of th best highway vehicles
@talldude123 An old Caprice Classic or LTD Crown Vic would outlast ANYTHING on the market today, the new ones just cannot hold up to what the cops put them through

my cousin had a P-71 93-4 i believe ,
was a nice car didnt have the spot light or cb , just roll cage and the engine upgrades that make it a p71
and i dont think it had too high of miles even for a retired police car
and he didn't check his oil and it locked up , it was a shame ,
