  • please look up petitiononline effexor signatures to help get this drug off the market! :) I'm unable to post full website address to comments.

  • Effexor remains in the body for a long time. You have to reduce GRADUALLY. This guy does not say much more than what we all know but this is another voice in support. Only a doctor can balance the withdrawal with something else to counter the withdrawal and eventually get you off of the entire stuff altogether. Never go cold turkey on this stuff. It is awful.

  • I stopped taking 125 mg effexor 17 days ago, no taper. First couple days were the worst bec/ of frequent brain zaps, anxiety, weird dreams. I read benedryl helps with anxiety and sleep, so I took the recommended dose which helped greatly. Did that for a couple nights then tried falling asleep without it and did fine. After 17 days I still get a brain zap here and there but less each day. I took omega3 fish oil tabs around day12, bec/ I read they help with brain zaps and they seem to help greatly

  • I stopped effexor, zyprexa and xanex cold turkey dec 1 2010 I had no choice the depression took my job, I lost my insurance and could not get public assistnace to get my meds refilled. I am living in absoulte hell I have gained 68lbs in 10 months at age 51 its unlikely I will ever loose it. Depression is no longer my #1 health problem thanks to pricks like my Dr's I am now morbidly obese- they have taken the last of my life from me.

  • Do most people get there sex drive back!!!! Fuck this shit!!!! no sex drive in it self is depressing

  • @pepp5150 I want to know because, I am a 22 year old male with no sex drive and i'm tired of it!

  • @macrent2 Hey,, its been 3 weeks and things are back to normal,,, I was only on it for about 5-6 weeks I have the article,,, if I can find I will send!! the guys was on Effectsor for about a year and after 7 years of being off of it things still aren't the same!!! Ouch!! enough for me to jump ship!!!! Peace!!!

  • Thanks for the video. I often question if my relapses are due to antidepressant withdrawal or my so called "depressive disorder''.

  • I was on paxil 20mg from 1994 to 2005. Then I switched to effexor. The change was quite smooth. When I was on paxil I tryed to taper off and it was bad. Now i am tapering off effexor 75mg for 3 months 5 pellets at a time. So far so good, no withdraw. 10 pellets to go. I am quite happy so far.

  • I stopped taking Effexor cold turkey. From 75mg to 0mg because my doctor told me to. And I feel SHIT. Okay? Do NOT stop it cold turkey. DO NOT. It SUCKS. I'm suicidal as hell, I feel dizzy, nauxious, shaky, mood swings... This is so sick. I just want to die right now.

  • Have you gotten off Effexor yourself… Dumb question as obviously NO YOU HAVEN'T!!!

I could certainly tell by the smart ass little smirks and laughs between your little spiel on pretending to KNOW EVERYTHING.

Do us ALL a favour and don't give advice on something you have never experienced as it’s unfair and inhumane.

  • Effexor ruined my life... Please shoot me now.

  • I would never stop this cold turkey, I missed this twice and I don't ever want to go through that EVER again...

  • problem with antidepressants is that it causes impotency as a side effect . problem is some people got permanent impotency for the REST OF THEIR LIVES after quiting the antidepressant. it's called the 'post SSRI sexual dysfunction' you can read about it on wikipedia. it's no joke, read the forums about people having PSSD. PSSD means sex problems even if you don't take antidepressants anymore. newspapers report also about this condition, it's horror for everyone experiencing this.

  • Ah, Effexor... My happy little elves. Why stop taking them??? The w/drawals are hell and the stuff actually works. And yeah, Effexor like totally changes your brain. I tried the one-granual-a-day thing, tried tapering, tried cold-turkey. But I'm back in EffexorLand. Those elves have me for life. I AM EFFEXOR-TIZED!!! God help us all.

  • I love effexor

  • @Doctoratkins Me too...

  • Effexor fried my brain. There's lightning in my head!

  • Why does every one go with that same line that its for some people but not others, Bull shit it is a SUPER highly Addictive substance, it needs to be banned and REAL research into the cause of depression not symptoms needs to be treated, Doesnt take a fucking genius to know that.

  • I took Effexor for 2 years. I dont suffer from depression I suffer from Anxiety. It does make you feel less anxious but also makes you more manic. It also reduces your moral scruples (Dr Jekyl/Mr Hyde scenario) and I did things when I was on Effexor which I would never normally dare do. This is a powerful drug and it can save lives if people are seriously depressed but the side effects can be nearly as bad. Caveat Emptor !

  • well i posted last year in nov.. i thought i would let you all know. my anxiety came back with vengance after the doctor convinced me to try lexapro because i was feeling a little down. well i did and my that is when my anxiety came back and turned into agrophobia i am 100% off meds again and will never trust anti-anxiety meds. i will share my information on how i got to feeling better

  • @94civiclxgrey i will help free of charge contact me at my email im not a scam or looking to make money i will help free s10king91@live.com

  • If I miss my effexor for more than 18 hours I start to get a vicious withdrawl, but Id rather keep taking it. Compared to my illness, any side effects are paultry. BTW, Im on 225mg/day

  • Effexor didn;t ruin my life -- Bloomington, Indiana did that.

  • My husband started cutting his dosage in half (EffexorXR), without telling anyone. Went from 150 to 75, and then from 75 to 37mg. that's when it hit him!

About noon he started speaking unintelligibly. About 2:30 PM, he became delerious, could not hear or respond, got out of the car - started walking through traffic, - and fainted. He was hospitalized with a blood glucose level over 500. Had to be taken completely off under restraints. Was hospitalized 3 mos. Good Luck. Welcome to my nightmare.

  • Hello I was on 375mg a day, I cut out 75 mg and went through hell almost immediately, But was fine two days later just felt a litle shaky. Over the past two days Ive cut back by 150mg no sideeffects so far, this drug hasn't made me feel any different. My stupid psychiatrist took me off a drug prescribed by my doc that was helping and put me on this, psychiatry is a suedo-science... heres hoping i can get off it completely, sick off getting those brain zaps

  • just to let u know for the past 3 weeks ive ben reducing my eefexor by taking ot some of the beeds inside. im on 75mg a day and im takin out around 55 beeds a day. this is really workin for me. no side effects yet. just mind is playing the odd trick. other than that i am fine. nearly there!

  • i came off the effoxer x/r it was horrible for 2 weeks just stop don't listen to this guy i stopped cold turkey!!! yes it sucks it makes you dizzy but there isn't this drawn out thing with coming off of it no matter how you come off the med it is going to have withdraw symptoms so don't listen to this crap my doctor also informed me of this so please if you want to stop just do it

  • i got as far as day 2 today cold turkey and wow i cudnt do it. the palpatations and dizzyness was over powering. i want off as i want another baby and am sick of takin chemicals. i take my hat off to people who can do the cold turkey thing. well done:)

  • not many people can decide to quit taking effexor and just stop taking it altogether. My friend was hospitalized the 5th day of quitting cold turkey. Her mother admitted her when she actually called her mom in the bathroom to check and see if her mom saw my friend`s head in the mirror. Myself 3rd day i was having elecrical shocks from the head down in arms and legs.. it starts on me 1.5 days of not taking the regular dosage.

  • it is my friend that didn`t see her own head in the mirror.

  • I did it cold turkey, and i dont recommend it to anyone i wanted to DIE, BUT instead of killing myself i got MAD and when i get MAD i destroy the object/person, we, thats making me mad. I took all my pills and flushed them down the toilet and it felt GOOD!..Then i went to Best Buy and bought 2 new HDTVS, PS3,Nintendo wii, Xbox360, PSP, about 20 dvds and blueray movies, came home and forgat about being addicted to drugs i was so buisy with playing with my new toys. TRUE STORY

  • I believe that

  • @robzombay72 Thanks man!

  • @alienwarelaptop100 I have major depression and I get really pissed-off too. When I get off my meds I get hyper and MAD! I get mad even when I take my meds, but its not as bad. Have a blast w/ new toys. :)

  • First switch to a SSRI like zoloft and then after a while on that, lower the dose, then after a while stop altogether.

Take it from me, it is near IMPOSSIBLE to quit Effexor once you've been on a high dose by just stopping it. Your brain goes haywire and the nausea is worse than anything imaginable.

So use the switching method. Just go to the local doc, don't tell them you're on Effexor (to cover their arse they always say to just keep taking it), and just ask for a SSRI script.

  • Ive been on Effexor for 7 years. My doctor told me it wasn't addictive, and that after 5 years they would take me off of it. I was 19 then, and they put me on 300mg and i only recently have tapered down to 37.5m. Its hell to go lower that 37.5 and i truly believe the people who put me on this poison should lose their licensed.

  • ...luckily my former psych (who's still an idiot) finally realized I should taper slowly off it. Well the dildo decided to try half at first. I became on a scale of 1 to 10 an 11 being depressed AND had a panic attack simultaneously. So I tapered off 1/16 of the amount each day it did well until I was done. But still, this drug is too extreme and I would not wish it on my worst enemy. I'm glad you're doing ok now. Hang in there buddy! :)

  • I took Effexor before. It's a really dangerous drug. I really do think they should take it off the market. Somehow, I had managed one day of not taking it in the morning which I'm supposed to take everyday, and the next day I went into a total psychotic episode. I was also taking another SSRI perscribed by my former idiot psychiatrist and I basically was overdosing on seratonin and I'd have extreme agitation and rage. It drove me to attempt suicide. (to be continued)

  • Hate this feeling of coming off of effexor..even though I was only on the 75 mg a day then now I'm down to 37.5..I tried to stop after a week on the 37.5's and went almost two and half days..then just had to take one..I cant stand that dizzi..upset stomach..idk ..I guess I will need to try and somehow go slower..

  • I take it for my Narcolepsy..It does help but I would like to live without it..learn to deal with it...

  • I hate Effexor... that stuff is horrible. I WANNA SUE THESE COMPANYS

  • @Nassifutz Absolutely! I hate Effexor. It's the worst pill in the world. And the withdrawals... OI VEY!!!!

  • @Nassifutz I have recently stopped effexor, my sex life is back.

  • @jfellow007 How long where you on it,,,how have you been off,,,sex life back to normal,, I have no sex drive @ all and it's kinda freaking me out!!! been on it about six week's any info would be great Thank's Peace!!

  • Why didn't my quack doctor tell me it was addictive? I asked about it. It IS addictive. It will greatly increase your risk of suicide. Effexor ruins many people's sex drives. Effexor is a rotten drug that should be illegal. Can I sue my "doctor" in small claims court for $5000, so I can go to a treatment center to quit Effexor?

  • what exactly are you going to sue for?

  • @RustyDK my brain!

  • s/b 'bottom line', not lie!

  • so bottom lie for me is, it may be killing me, but without it, i'd be killing myself. i'd rather have 10 years left with taking it, than to be given 20 years to try and live without it. i cannot imagine your situation, ghiardellichic, and wonder which is worse for your baby, the drug (decreased slooowly) or the withdrawals. sending many good thoughts to you, hope you are feeling better soon, and that your baby will be fine and healthy. hang in there.

  • i started zoloft in '92, and it was like a miracle. in 2 days i went from not bathing and living in my robe for weeks on end, to taking a meeting and landing a job. after awhile, zoloft stopped working as well, and i was put on effexor and then effexor xr. it works well for me, i don't know what it's done to my body inside, but i know i cannot be without it. several years ago, i slowly got off of it, but withing weeks after being off of it, i plummeted to the depths of my depression again.

  • fuck the efexor!

  • I stopped taking Effexor XR 150mg cold turkey on 9/7 and I have truly been through hell. I quit because I found out I am pregnant. My Doctor did prescribe for me to take 1/2 the dose for 4 days and 1/4 dose for 4 days. I have had shakes, shivers, brain shivers, depression, fatigue, heavy eyelids, headaches, stomaches, emotional chaos, crying, yelling, argumentive, hot spells, and the list goes on and on. I still have the brain shivers, but getting better.

  • I'm finally off of it, took 7 mo's.

I'm on my 2nd day and feel like HELL.

  • To the poster of this video: Thank you, you are absolutely right in my experience. Best wishes to you!

  • Effexor is viewed by many as an aweful drug(abeit, not the displayed opinion in the video). I've been taking it in varied doses for six months, I went 75-150-225. I came down 225-187.5-150 and am currently on 112.5. I decreased my dose every two weeks and had a little Anxiety/Nervous feelings for a couple of days but it wasn't hell! Decrease slowly and always consult with your G.P. Effexor has many benefits and for me they outweighed any expected (but non forthcoming!) withdrawal effects.

  • I just started taking this stuff about 2 weeks ago 37.5mg for my anxiety. why do people wanna get off it so bad? does it like do bad things to u over time or somthing? all ive noticed is it makes me sleepy.

  • There is better med's out there for Anxiety.

    I've been on Effexor for 9'rs, 300mg.

Being weened off now, sence Feb.

I take Valium for Anxiety, works great for me.

  • Do you not get the 'dopey' feeling from valium?

  • No problem with the Valium, Lucky I guess.

  • different people have different reactions to effexor. Some people love it. Others hate it.

many people tell me that over time, it loses it's effectiveness.

also, once you get hooked on it, that creates a lot of concern for many people. withdrawal can be severe for many patients.

  • It worked great at first, Didn't realise

what is was doing to me until now. I'm

a lot more clear headed. Also take Lamictal

for my Biploar, Helps a lot. Effexor just

made me feel dead inside but I didn't realise

that until now. I'm afraid of that Drug.

  • dont take it man. get up exercise fucking get off youtube and facebook. hang out with people that accept you for who you are.

it hasnt helped me that much ive been on it for like three years. im nineteen. life gets stressful but anti-depressants complicated it for me. i think the only time i needed it was in the winter.

  • It is a bitch to withdraw from. I've withdrawn from morphine, I took morphine for 18 months, and Effexor is much worse and it takes longer to get it out of your system. Anger, twitchiness, cramps, dizzyness, brain "zaps" are a few of the side-effects of withdrawing.

You will learn to hate it

  • @veryangrybob911 i've been on it for a year now. taking about 101mg/day. my experiences have been good and bad. it has worked for me. i am much happier and my social anxiety is almost gone now. this is good because it improve social relationships and that kind os thing.

  • @veryangrybob911BUT the thing is that it can numb out your emotions. before taking it, i would listen to music and really feeel the music and understand it. i would get goosebumps so easily. i find it hard to reach that level of feeling now. so this is the downside... also it can give you night sweats and give you 'super dreams.' super dreams are pretty cool though. i'm glad i get them though, theyre cool.
