  • Some quick info for those who are keen of the details:

This skyscraper cluster is in Yoyogi district in Shibuya just few miles south of Shinjuku.

The building that was most shaking heavily is Shinjuku Maynds Tower, 165 Meters/34 Floors. The skyscraper on its right is JR east Japan building, 150 Meters/28 Floors and the skyscraper on its left is Odakyu Southern Tower, 151 Meters/35 Floors.

    Hope that was informative.

  • If I were IN one there would be a puddle of urine all around me. I'm just sayin'.

  • IT WAS SCARY!!!!!!!

  • It lopks like a model on bamboo reeds and seaweed.

  • Looks scary

  • Japanese has very strict earthquake building code

  • Scary.

  • Wow.

  • scary good thing they dont fall

  • awesome!

  • I wonder what the people in those buildings were feeling...must've been crazy up there on the top floors...

  • 0:38... LOL

  • This is why I buy Sony products

  • Japanese construction probably saved me from getting squished in my office building that day. <3

  • that's fucking wicked structure you got there!

  • I heard the structure was studied from Horyu-ji stupa of 7th century. Japanese have knew mankind can't make stuff stronger than nature from ancient. So make it flexible.

Dear rich men in the world. Please order your building to Japanese constructor! The money will help reconstruction of Japan and save your property.

  • The buildings were constructed that way. I read years ago that the foundations of many skyscrapers in japan, have mechenisms that accomodate swaying so the structure won't "crack" and collaspe

  • Is this in Osaka?

  • The buildings anywhere else in the world would have collapsed. i would hate to see what happens in California...when it happens i should say. It will be terrible. !!

  • Oh My God! That is something.

  • Japanese technology is just fucking amazing, oh God. If this kinda earthquake and tsunami was hit the cities in China and South East Asia countries, all their skyscrapers would be swallowed.

  • and this is in an 8.9 quake?? Those engineers obviously did the math right lol

  • Yeah ofcourse they have designed these buildings to do that, in japan an earthquake isnt very new thing anyway....

  • Fine engineering.

  • The building is still standing so it must have worked!! One question though, why are the other buildings not swaying? Are they older, built with older construction techniques?

  • @softwareofexcellence because your looking at the mid point of the other buildings, while looking at the top section fo the building in the distance. The sway is the most visible at the top of the building, and least visible at the bottom.

  • This is really impressive!!! and just plane crazy

  • Everyone around the world should take note of how amazing the engineering of the buildings in Japan are. My prayers to the people of Japan, in this tragic event. Hugs from the United States.

  • can you say shit in my pants...lol

  • wich city is this? Tokyo?

  • Someone told me these buildings have huge suspended counterweights in their interiors, along with horizontally sliding foundations.

  • Thanks for this vid, expert design, they are build exactly for this...

  • Godzilla

  • This is not ingenuity or industrialism. This is engineering at its finest! This will be one of those iconic images that will remain with me for the rest of my life.

  • hayesy316 is right

  • Japanese skyscrapers are designed to do this. The rocking dissipates the energy in a safe way. If the foundations were perfectly rigid, they'd be more likely to structurally fail and collapse.

  • @hayesy316 I know you are totally right, but it looks kinda weird if you actually see a building this big, moving around that much... I know every skycraper wiggles a little, but this is fucking sick :D

  • how scary

  • Wow that is unreal - just shows how powerful mother nature really is.

  • i saw this video on the news and had to see the whole thing!

  • Absolutely amazing!
