  • Was in high school in the 60's and boy this song does bring

back great memories. Whatever happened to music like this.

Kids today get to listen to absolute CRAP!!

  • I remember being a teenager moving away and crying to this song. And she is right, Everybody does say they will keep in touch but never do.

  • AWESOME SONG ,, CANT BELIEVE IT HASNT BEEN REDONE .. shout out from Pensacola , fl FB

  • I love "The Old Crowd" the most of all her songs. This carefree melody sounds pretty

    good to me.

  • so much passion and fire in her voice..lesley was the sixties..she still can carry a mean tune today shes always been my ole girl..love u Lesley...forever

  • Sometimes I play this on my (yep...still have one) stereo over and over. The song is terrific and gives a lot back.

  • BRINGS BACK MEMORIES OF BEING A LITTLE BOY, FRIENDS ARE MOVING AWAY AND CANNT VISIT THEM

  • Isn't it true...thanks for posting.

  • WOW ! she is sooo beautiful. thanks for the great tunes from one of the best. jg

  • I love this song. It reminds me of the teenagehood I didn't have. I was born in Australia and I wanted the American teenage experience. I didn't know then how tough it was. I don't miss the old crowd except for one or two who were post-high school years. But it's a beautiful song that captures a moment in time. I didn't know it was by Carole King. Thank you who told me. Did Carole ever write a dud song?

  • Plenty, I'm sure. They worked her (as well as other staff writers) like a dog in those days, and they'd turn out hundreds of tunes in a year. However, I'm pretty sure Carole and Gerry have the most impressive hits-to-flops ratio of any American composer except maybe the Gershwins and Cole Porter.

  • @shout102 I'm sure being a teenager in Australia had its fun moments. What was it like for you?

  • This song brings me to tears; where have the years gone? '63, '64, South High, Denver. Gayle Dickerson was my very 1st real crush, & I've always wondered about her. The memories are Forever, & Ever. Wolfsky9

  • She's a Fool backed with The Old Crowd was EASILY one of the best combo 45s ever released! Rick Rock Roeder

  • it's true you try to keep in touch with high school friends but it's hard, i've only kept in touch with a few not the old crowd, i wish too

  • this reminds me of high school and college..and when i was in the military after making friends you been through everything with. this song tugs at the strings of my hearth.everybody says they will keep in touch..but you dont see them again..thats true not only in high school..but life. this indeed i one of my favorites next to Thats the way boys are..her best two in my opinion..I love you Lesley.

  • I don't miss 'the old crowd', but I do miss hearing this great song. Thank you whoever you are who posted it.

  • Another great song from Carol King and Gerry Goffin.

  • This was the b-side to She's A Fool. Fantastic.

  • I love this song, but I only knew it from an LP. I don't remember it being played as a single. Was it a hit on it's own?

  • Great song from Lesley's second album titled, Lesley Gore Sings of Mixed-Up Hearts!

  • When I was a 7 year old back in 1965 I used to spin this single on the record player in our living room. I'd play this song over and over again, I love it - she's awesome. This is the first time I've heard this in I don't know how many decades, it takes me back to my youth. I love this song!!!!

  • My fav Lesley Gore song - Have you ever wished you were back in your youth once again and remember all the fun you had with your friends then, so care free! This song says it all.

  • What a great song, great (and nostalgic) memories ... high school graduate in 1964

  • Ditto!! The nostalgia is so sweet it almost brings tears! Part of a beautiful time long gone!

  • this is one of my favorites, but it sure sounds a wee bit like 'it might as well rain until september'

  • Love this song, remember my dad taking me to McDonalds and the station played this flip side of She's a fool. A great walk down memorylane.

  • It's actually, "our hearts were on a cloud", not "our thoughts".

  • Carol Hall's new cd features Lesley Gore singing a new song, Hungry For You

  • The Cookies also released a single of this Goffin & King tune. Their version was an A side, but it still didn't chart.

  • Lesley really takes me back to those good old days! I love her wonderful singing! She was such a great inspiration to me!

  • Lesley always was and always will be the best. I hope to hear music from "Someplace Else Now" and "Love Me By Name" I lost those albums years ago and miss them ! Her 70's music was just as great as the 60's.

  • You can go to Pat Swayne's website to see his Tribute to Lesley. You'll find what you're looking for there.

  • Wow, one of my favorite Lesley Gore songs. If you were in high school in the 60's it is very mel melancholy.

    Frankie - Class of 64

  • Lyrics correction:

Well now it is funny when high school days are through

  • Thank You for you input it has been corrected...

  • Great song from Lesley from her 1963 album, Lesley Gore Sings of Mixed-Up Hearts. Also featured as the B side of She's A Fool. A lot of gems on that album. The line is, I believe, we so carefree and our hearts were on a cloud.

  • Thank you all for your input....The corrections have been made...

  • ...and I think she says that "we were so carefree that our hearts were on a cloud".

  • Thanks for posting this Brent. Always my favorite Gore song (great, great singer) I had no idea that Carol King wrote it though. She has quite the catalogue.

    Lyrics correction:

Eddie was the wise guy, there's always one of those

Johnny used to sing off-key, but boy he was loud

  • Yaa you can hear the Carole King influence- the Brill Sound.

    Fun song. 60's rock on

  • This is a classic Carole King melody, kind of along the lines of "Take Good Care Of My Baby" and a wonderful interpretation by Lesley. This Goffin-King composition should have been an "A" side and a hit for Lesley. Thanks for posting.
