all you people who think to be a good drifter you need the right tuning, NOOBS! its SKILL and that takes PRACTICE! youre NEVER gonna get good if you dont practice not even if you have a fucking pro tuned drift car you wont do shit with it, so grab yourself a stock ass silvia, pump up the hp to about, 300 and PRACTICE!
@SicknTwistedx Agreed! from personal experience i grabbed a stock ///M3, for me its the best drifitng car. great control! I worked it up to a fully tuned M3 and that tears the road :) Tip: practise more the tuning has nothing to do with the drifting
@silkus69 It depends on your style. When you use the handbrake (my style), you just press the accelerator after you turn in. Not too much though, or you'll crash into a wall. :) Use the rake and accelerator method, and you have to feather the throttle, like calumROBLOX's explanation.
@xXSNIPERXGODZXx Weight transfer. He's basically manipulating the weight of the car (by gassing, braking or turning) to cause the rear of the car to lose traction and slide outward. After that he uses the gas and countersteer to control the slide. It takes quick reflexes with the gas and the steering...and very much practice. You might check out the Drift Bible video if ur trying to learn the techniques
Could you show what kind of settings do you have in your car? Of course it's personal how do you like to keep those and depends your style, but that would make a good base for those.
mmmmm u have a different line to what i use...... i had this game for quite some time now and i still play with it today... i cant get the second to last part of the track.
I got a G25 this year for £100 brand new! Its the nuts!!! G27 doesnt do anything better its just got a few more buttons and a different type of gear for force feed back that is slightly smoother ive used the G27 and im happy. £200 + extra for that? errrr no thanks!
I struggle drifting on this track, the straights tempt me to get up too much speed for the tight early bends. I'm tempted to get a steering wheel when GT5 comes out.
what is the damn trick to drifting someone please tell me cos im losing my mind over it. in this vid like the first corner if i try and do a weight transfer the car spins wildly out of control and its ticking me off. i've practiced and practiced but its just not going smoothly for me.
I wouldn't be feinting if I were a guy who just learned how to drift... you need to get the feel of the car first try gripping the car for a whole lap after you get comfy then start sliding the rear a bit on the exit to learn how to control the counter steering then learn feinting. I would suggest you watch the video drift bible by keiichi tsuchiya :).
@geezezy okay breif lesson come into the corner fat or too fast turn in as you slide balance the throttle with your angle of attack to much power youi spin out too little you stop just pracrice
@geezezy Yeah take it easy and do tons of laps in time trial mode, gradually push the car harder and get more aggressive, it's frustrating but you'll get it
@geezezy -just as a reminder: are you holding the handbrake when you drift? you arent really supposed to use it and when you do, all you need is a quick tap
What they are basicly doing now is creating the vehicles and tracks. This is what you will see in the final GT5. And it's crap. Listen to the engine of that M3! Sounds like a 4-banger!
you do realize that youtube made the video and audio quality lower yes? Forza 2 is on par with GT4 but it's nowhere near good as GT5 prologue physics wise
I've played both and forza's physics are better. GT games, at least 4 and 5 feel as if the car is not properly on the road. In forza not only does left feet braking work like in real life, but you can actually feel it, nothing like that in gt.
Why can't you do donuts and burnouts in GT4? Because the physics arn't right.
Also I cannot stand gt's sounds they just suck, period.
Forza just feels right, the way the car is connected to the road, in gt it just doesn't have that sensitive feel.
If left foot braking doesn't work in GT5 doesn't work then you're doing it wrong, I've done left foot braking on most of my mid engine rwd car to make the car more stable on mid corners. GT4 physics flaw was only the lsd simulating, they don't really work that's why you can't do donuts
GT 4 engine note might be weak but GT5:Prologue engine note have been improved greatly, thus it's better than forza 2.
Forza 2 physics flaw was on braking, weight shifting and somewhat too easy to cntrl a drift. It's almost impossible to lose traction on awd car in forza 2, even if you're trying to do a scandanavian flick. braking is quite funny as well, because in FF car you can do full brking while taking a very tight turn, try doing that irl and you will definitely understeer into a wall. drifting in forza 2 is somewhat too easy as well, all you need to do is brake, hand brake, then full throttle all the way.
You can definitly lose it in an awd car if you flick it. Also if you brake and use hand brake you'll lock the rears and it just won't work.
In any car you will not have understeer if you brake early enough, so no understeer in a FF is not true, brake to late and you will have it, that happens in arcade games nevermind simulation. Also if you have a wheel and forza 2 and you go full lock right away while braking at a speed that pretty high for the particular corner you'll understeer anything.
no, you just can't lose traction in AWD car in forza 2, it's nearly impossible unless you use the handbrake.
have you tried driving any FF car in forza 2? try a golf for example, take it around tsukuba and do a full braking while taking a corner, after that try using any car but FF car then the car and you will see that the FF car physics in forza 2 is funny.
I've completed Forza 2, and I just do not have this problem. In Gt4, my friend has the game, and he has a turbo civic. If hes crusing in 4th gear, and steps on it, it just starts spinning tires forever.
What tyre is he using? if it's a road tyre than it's a no brainer. also if you don't find forza titles and gt titles have flaws in their physics then you've never pushed your car irl before.
No kidding. The cars act like lead tanks in Gran Turismo, they barely bounce nor does the steering try to jolt or sway in corners.
Also, it is much easier to tip over over cars than Gran Turismo lets on. Not to mention the driver never has to correct vehicle error in Gran Turismo, the car always does what the driver MADE it do but not what the car wants to do. That is not the case in RL (real live).
Random Quote: "But I heard there's no respawn in RL! What if I get lagg out there!? Im dead!"
I admit that the collision physics is much better in forza 2 but everything else you say is pretty much bs. usualy people who made those comments either never played gt5p or they just forgot to turn the driving aids off or using the standard physics rather than the pro physics in gt5p.
If you do have gt5p try driving the stock Z06 with the factory recommended tyre (S2) on pro physics with all driving aids off except for the abs. I've tried it and it's a killer, too much throttle on the exit of the corner you're pretty much spin the car around, in forza 2 you can pretty much get away with it.
The actual handling of the cars is pretty darn accurate.
It's just that the car does not react to the road as well as it should. The car seems to drift over bumps, go over huge jumps (like in the track seen here), and go off road with little to no major impact on the car's steering.
I've only played the demo of GT5p, so I'm not sure, but it would also be really nice if they incorporated damage and random wear/tear into the physics. That would deff add to the realism.
I'd have harder time naming other (semi-)sim game that simulates gravity in a worse way...
flying cars after weirdo crashes etc. are understandable and it happens in many games, but something like that, in competely controlled situation is just unexplainable. even the cars that create downforce do that.
it is a good proof that Mr. Yamauchi spends too much time making (amazing) car models but never concentrates on these few fundamental problems.
Exactly! that's why Gran Turismo is the only semi sim game that's decent in any console games with a real licensed car in the world. If you want to play a proper sim you'd have to buy pc racing games, which I really hated because I never figured out how to use the logitech software for the G25. plug n' play is my best friend :)
hey man love the scandinavian flicks they were awsome!!!! i drift but not with the flicks because when i use my sti it just spins me off and when i use my evo well i cant unless i turn vigoreslly into a turn and then i spin
Very nice indeed. What kind of speed are you carrying when you go into the long bend (1:04)? I can never keep the drift going until to the end of the sector. Plus the bend after the tunnel is so tough to keep control of, so it's amazing u could connect 2 drifts together there! I can manage 12K with my E92 n1/n1 on six-axis....Got the G25 as well, but I can only manage 7K with it :S
I don't really look at my speedometer when I'm drifting but I guess I went at around 80 km/h if I'm not mistaken. as for the score it doesn't really matter if you get only 7k, as long as your drift looked cooler than the 20k scores it doesn't really matter, seriously... it's just a score generated by computer not by 3 judges :D
Don't worry the first time I used my DFP in GT3 I couldn't even grip race LOL :D. just keep on practicing with your G25, it'll reward you if you keep on practicing. oh by the way the GT5P points for drifting is kind of flawed... so I don't judge drift by the points, I judge your drift by the clipping point, angle, speed and smoke, and it was very decent because you used sixaxis, kind of hard to get the car turn the way you like with sixaxis in GT5, so good job.
no i'm good with time trials, infact i improved my times on the first day but the main reason for me getting the g25 was to do drifts but that hasnt gone as expected..mostly due to 900degrees i s'pose. but i'll keep practicing
wow that's amazing of you... cause most people, including me they have a hard time getting the car into the right direction using the wheel for the first time. well congrats on the time improvement!
awesome man i also got this wheel about a week ago n i gotta say its really hard even tho i thought its gonna be easy.. seriously how much time did it take for u to learn?
It took me a week to get used to the GT5 physics. I've been drifiting since Gran Turismo 3 so it's quite a fast transition for me. GT 3-4 I used Driving Force pro wheel.
If you people who prefers sound and smoke rather than realism go watch people drift M3 in NFS pro street OK? I'm sick of people telling me where is the smoke, and engine note sound shit. For one I care more about simulation rather than fancy smoke.
if you want a these steering wheels but cant afford the price tags buy a driving force pro for under 60$CAN on ebay, its 900 degrees of rotations a aswell, sequential like the DFGT, but its a tiny bit smaller and the force feedback is a little weaker/slower so it is harder at first
I wonder how long it took people to realize that this is a video game, for a little bit I thought this was real.

Tips on drifting:
Take a middle line- not too wide or too narrow.
Use a FR based car- less than 1,300 KG recommended.
250BHP-350BHP should be enough.
If you find it hard to control the behind, try moving a little slower.
Complete the track multiple times to get used to the car's feel.
Try feathering the throttle (on and off the throttle repeatedly)
Try entering the corner slightly slower than the recommended speed, and then attempting to drift.

@geezezy there is not "trick" you gotta follow these steps
1. follow the meter next to your gears to make sure you hit the drift at the right spd.
2. tune your car so its got a lotta hp, very light, and can counter steer
3. RWD
4. floor it while counter steering
5. never shift on the redline while in a drift. that maintains control
6. practice.
*to tune your car you must beat class A and then go to "quick tune" before a race.

sheharyarirfan 2 years ago
I used logitech G25 wheel
nasisotoayam 2 years ago
awesome man i also got this wheel about a week ago n i gotta say its really hard even tho i thought its gonna be easy.. seriously how much time did it take for u to learn?
sheharyarirfan 2 years ago
It took me a week to get used to the GT5 physics. I've been drifiting since Gran Turismo 3 so it's quite a fast transition for me. GT 3-4 I used Driving Force pro wheel.

If you people who prefers sound and smoke rather than realism go watch people drift M3 in NFS pro street OK? I'm sick of people telling me where is the smoke, and engine note sound shit. For one I care more about simulation rather than fancy smoke.

nice drift.
BUT.....
WHERE IS THE SMOKE?
christosV8 2 years ago
Man the sounds in GT5 are fucking shit

Thats a steering wheel for the game?
Tirane28 3 years ago
if you want the official one buy the logitech DFGT if you want a more realistic feel buy the g25
nasisotoayam 3 years ago
if you want a these steering wheels but cant afford the price tags buy a driving force pro for under 60$CAN on ebay, its 900 degrees of rotations a aswell, sequential like the DFGT, but its a tiny bit smaller and the force feedback is a little weaker/slower so it is harder at first
