Oh yeah you know... so many people don't know the difference between a crossdresser and a transsexual and a drag queen... and I'm old enough to have grown up in the era of rampant homophobia and strictly enforced gender roles. So I've always cringed when I see drag queens because THAT'S NOT ME (!) and it's like I feel I have to defend myself against that image just to retain a sense of dignity. And I have always felt freakish enough... and flamboyant drag queens are like my worst nightmare.
ANYWAY... and HOWEVER... this is 2009, and I'm trying to embrace the full range of gender freedom. I sure wouldn't wish what I went thru on anyone! If drag queens help break down the gender barriers that's awesome. Shivering in a dark corner in a drug-stupor, layer after layer of coverings over every window and crack, TERRIFIED paranoia of crowds of mocking, dangerous strangers peering in thru cracks I didn't see.... you know, yeah for drag queens.
Oh I fully understand, however do keep in mind that at the time of Stonewall Drag Queens where there on the front lines, plus many queens back then in today's world would prob call themeselves transgender or transsexual. There is a difference for sure. That poem was written back in my old drag days actually, and deals with how I'm not what they think I am. Just really a snapshot of my life then.
Beat poetry meets rap meets social commentary.
I like this poem, keep up the good work.

It was good, and I got the theme of what you were saying but maybe the background music was a little too loud I couldn't hear the words very well
