I love playing Birdman mode for 3 reasons, the music, the atmosphere (i.e. weather, sea), and the easter eggs. Every now and then I find something in the easter eggs like sound effects (i.e. traffic noise, windmill creaking), exploring new areas, and just peaceful gaming.
Hey all, just wanted to let you know that I posted an early demo of the song that became the Rocketbelt theme and another demo track I did just before beginning Pilot Wings 64 on my channel. They weren't fully developed at that time, just sequences I created. Would love to know what you think of them. Thanks!
Amazing to read all the posts. I'm Dan Hess, the composer for Pilot Wings 64, and it is so cool to see that the target audience got the music, unlike the 40 year old reviewers at the time. I posted a couple of the Pilot Wings demos on my channel if you're interested. Thanks so much for posting this.
@SonicArtist313 I want to believe. If this is true, 1) thank you so much, this is one of the most nostalgic tunes out there for me. and 2) Any recent projects you've been working on?
@evangelism2 It's true, I'm the composer for Pilot Wings 64. It really is a surprise to me how much this sound track and Birdman in particular made such an impact on so many people. It really means a lot to me. I continue to write, record and produce in the Detroit area. You can check out a few of the projects on my channel. Let me know what you think!
Man... Pilot Wings 64. I remember once watching my bud play the SNES version of Pilot Wings and it didn't really hold my attention.
But oh man, years later and one of my best friends let me borrow his n64 (I guess he just wasn't a true gamer). Oh my, I was about 14 or so and how the n64 impacted my life. This song in particular would dance in my conscious for many years to come, and when I found it again it made me want to cry. This song is timeless and it'll never be far from my thoughts.
BORN IN 1993, THIS IS THE ONLY GAME ALONG WITH SPACE STATION SILICON VALLEY, SHADOW MAN, BUCK BUMBLE, DUKE NUKEM 64, GEX GAMES, MYSTICAL NINJA STARRING GOEMON, ETC. NINTENDO 64, I LOVE YOU, WILL YOU MARRY ME? I WANT TO HAVE YOUR BABIES AND BRING THESE GAMES TO THE KIDS BORN OF THE STUPID GAMES NOWADAYS!
Let's just turn those lights down. Can I offer you a drink? Coarse I got the good stuff. I set this up just for you. Ya know what time it is? Time to fly through some rings.
This song always reminds me of being eight years old, turning off the lights in the living room at 10pm when everyone is asleep in the house, putting in the game and choosing the bird mode, choosing the stage that looked very similar to the USA, on the clear setting and at evening. Flying past the Statue of Liberty, flying above the Twin Towers and attempting to fly under the Brooklyn Bridge.... ahhh, memories.
Hey Everyone...Good Mems huh?! Wish I could have wings... fly around the world, meet places , fly over the sea,fly over mountains :D And listen to this song while doing it. It would be amazing :O!!
@kissmeboi Nope, its a different experience, I dont know how to describe its just beyond Awesome. I rode one of the biggest roller-coasters in Canada in Toronto called the Behemoth and compared to the dive its totally different but in both u feel the adrenaline rush.
Yeah, woo, I'm gonna dim the lights out, put my stubborn sperm remains to bed, play this game, and pork my wife if I'm not too tired. Oh yeah man. Wooo, in fact, it was so enjoyable, I had to share w/ everyone because it wasn't worth keeping a secret.
When I hear this music, I have to say, "Ohhh Yeah." In an incredibly deep voice. You could play this, get some candles, a nice dinner at a very, intimate, restaurant and you are in. I mean IN!
@flarpjark4576 N64 has Pilotwings and Mario, but PS1 had Final Fantasy Tactics, Wild Arms, Tobal No. 1, weird cult hits like Rising Zan and a lot of faithful arcade ports. Most of the PS1 games were geared to an older player, though, so they never had the same light hearted, blue-sky feel as N64 games, except a few like Jumping Flash.
This song makes me think of flying towards the horizon fast, yet slow after going through many tragedies and now just going towards the orange horizon, unsure of what lies ahead...
Haha, this made my day. I used to LOVE flying around taking pictures of the scenery with the smooth jazz (which is damn catchy). I often wondered if I was the only one who liked to do that. Classic. Classic.
I love how you can't truly enjoy anything until you've been laid. When you try to define sex, it's like you have no matter on the issue. Does that mean I have to have been melted in the sun's corona to tell you it's a bad idea touching it? What is sex, for those of you who only know how to have it!
"girl"..........."you know i been think boutcha"........"its been...sooooo long baby"....."i ain't even tryna front girl.... you got it going on"... "lets say you and i get together tonight and"...."let it alllllll hang out"...."you... me...and the night".... "ya diggggg?"
the nostalgic madness of it all....oh thank you nintendo 3DS for bringing out pilot wings again, people are going to go to the stores and ask again..."do you guys have pilot wings?" oh that question just sounds great....

OMG. This game was the best. I keep trying to convince my dad to go hunting in the garage for our N64, just so I can play this game again. And go flying around, listening to this song. It brings back good memories listening to this. :)
This really takes me back! I was thinking about this game just the other day... I'll always remember first playing it and being like "Wow! Look at all the colors! And it's 3D!". We are so desensitized this day and age it is isn't even funny. Oh well, at least I'll get to remember my first reaction to such excellence.
I think this is probably my first memory of a videogame, I would chuck a tantrum in the car because my grandmas house was boring and I was a kid, so my dad would borrow the N64 overnight and almost always this game along with it. I remember having to setup the close-to-destroyed video store N64 and play this for hours on end. What a great game :). I loved my grandparents also though :P!
One day after I graduate college I'm going to buy a paramotor (It's been a dream of mine for years). It's a paragliding parachute ("wing") that hangs overhead and you're pushed along with just an engine (with a propeller) on your back. I'm going to take my MP3 player with noise-cancelling headphones and the FIRST song I'm going to listen to when I do it is this. I guarentee I'll cry, haha. This song makes me feel so young and it'll fit so perfectly. Look up "paramotor" on youtube.
@Stall0wnized DUDE! I've been thinking that for years! I was actually listening to Riviera Paradise when I searched for this song believe it or not.....
damn.. I hear this song, and I'm young again. 1996. Watching my dad flying around free roaming, landing and taking snap shots of the scenery. Its crazy how a song from the ninetys could have so much depth and meaning to me..... I was playing this when my parents got divorced, and 13 years later I'm getting divorced and studying to for my degree. Such quality doesn't exist nowadays, I love japan ( I want a t shirt that says that).
There is a band called Retro Remix Revue. They have already done some outstanding remixes of popular video game songs. (Check out Chemical Zone, Green Hill Zone, and Gnat Attack Level 2... all great renditions!) If enough people were somehow able to get this suggestion to the band, they may possibly play this on an upcoming CD.
The Wii has no soul.

Its crazy how a song from the ninetys could have so much depth and meaning to me..... I was playing this when my parents got divorced, and 13 years later I'm getting divorced and studying to for my degree. Such quality doesn't exist nowadays, I love japan ( I want a t shirt that says that).

Inspired by this game, my best friend and I as kids built cardboard wings and tried to fly. God damn those were some good ol' days.
