If I had been seeing this episode of "The Love Boat" at the time, I probably would have been saying to myself, "Hey! It's Patty Simcox (from 'Grease') and Skipper (from 'Gilligan's Island')."
Of course, I would usually watch "Gilligan's Island" on TV everyday after school (the show was in regular syndication on TV back during the late 1970s and early 1980s).
Would it be possible to upload some episodes of season 3 especially the Alaska cruise, episodes 1 and 2 of season 3.I'm longing to see these episodes!thanks.
I liked this show a lot as a teen.I loved Gofer,Isaac the barman and Julie mc Coy especially the kind and lovely cruise director. But i never met the Captain stubbing and Julie and isaac on board even if i went on board of boats twice. They didn't say "hello, welcome"to me,lol!!
Anybody know where I can find Love Boat season 3-and all anothers only find season 1 and 2. I try everywhere but not found. I living Finland so I don't can't watch those US or UK regions only watching places :(
This show always has bittersweet memories for me. It was on when my first boyfriend broke up with me (August 13, 1977). Before I dated him, I used to sing along with the theme in my happy little world of romantic idealism *rolls eyes*.
Stupid question: why is McLeod shot while on a real cruise, while the other cast members are shot in front of back projection (though Tewes looks like she's standing on a real boat)? Guess that why's he's the star. BTW, Milton Berle...that must have been a fun shoot.
Susan Buckner was a MAJOR and underrated 70's babe. She was a MIss America contestant and LOVED to party. Met her in Marina Del Ray a million years ago..or so it seemed..lol
This had a really nice scene where Alan Hale Jr and Milton Burle were goading each other at their dinner with Captin Stubing. "...what was you name...Flash? Flush? ... "It should have been you went down enough times"
God, do I miss this show. Seen every episode every Sat nite. Cheesy, but loved it. Always seemed as if Charo was on every other episode. Was a floating variety show.
I remember watching the Love Boat (and Fantasy Island) on a regular basis every Sat. night back in the early-mid 1980s when it still was originally on the air. There was and is something so SOOTHING about the opening theme as well as each and every episode. Entertaining too. Saturday nights are just not the same these days without The Love Boat (and Fantasy Island) airing on its usual channel (ABC) in its usual time slot (Love Boat: 9pm est, Fantasy Island: 10pm est). Its a crying shame, really.
Not only television, but the movies have in many ways run out of originality as well as simplicity. Television was based around semi simple characters, with usually uncomplicated plots that, in many cases, had real life implications. The only show on network television that I watch is House Md, being that Jericho got canceled a long time ago.
@NYCMESBRNX The Love Boat & Fantasy Island definitely served their purposes as escapist television at that particular moment in time.Society today is way too dark & cynical for it to have worked had it debuted today.
@landrykkb it's only dark and cynical on TV, in reality, textbook crimes are lower now than they were in the 70's, it's the crime of sensationalism that has dramatically risen over the years. Networks profit greatly from it.
@classicphile Yes,it sure is a crying shame that television has evolved to the point of absurdity with these God damn reality shows!Mind you, shows like The Love Boat and Fantasy Island eventually got old to me during the mid-80's,but they were both still 10 times the quality of today's crap.
Why is everyone associating this show with homosexuality? Everyone was on The Love Boat! That's where the old actors shined again and the young ones got even shinier!
Let's not overlook Jill Whelan. Some point to her character's appearance as a definite Jump the Shark moment, but she was a major childhood crush of mine. This would have been at about the same time she appeared in Airplane. And, what more can you say about an ep thats has both the Skipper and Uncle Miltie?
It's a shame that the only two cast members from Happy days that DID NOT appear on The Love Boat were Ron Howard and Henry Winkler, it would have been cool if both Ron and Henry could have been guests on The Love Boat at the same time as well.
This was that classic episode when Captain Stubing ran aground and killed 47. It was their best ever

I loved this show. You'd get to see entertainers you hadn't seen in a long time. It was so much better than those awful reality shows we have today.
And Gavin McLeod was sexy.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
this was clearly a program with an intended audience of men who enjoy being anally penetrated by likeminded sodomites intent on destroying America
somewhatlongdong 3 years ago
Although I don't agree with you demographic audience belief I was, however, quite supprised to see how sexist the characters were.
lowellriggsiam 3 years ago
And what is Miss Hathaway doing with her mouth at the end of her segment in this intro? Looks nasty.
gordonsolie1 3 years ago
Perhaps she's annoyed and disgusted to think that the audience is going to expect a rehash of her Hathaway character.

Either that, or she's checking to see if she's flossed.
