Economic growth has priority over what the natural world can sustain and when depleted we will look for pandoro and raze it to the ground.

Yes you can do something. Saying what a horrible thing it is to destroy rainforests isn't gonna help anything, but actually doing something about it is what's important. You can donate to organizations like Rainforest Action Network, or even the Sierra Club, both of which help protect millions of acres of rainforest and old growth forest in the U.S.

You can also make sure that when you buy wooden products, that they say from sustainably farmed trees or something like that.

Because companies are taking down large tracts of forests and are planted with African savanna grasses for cattle feeding. We need to stop this. If we eat less burgers then we are also helping the environment. When we kill trees, we're also killing ourselves.

Using wood for lumber is only one of the causes of the Amazon's deforestation. I did research for my project and it said that the MAIN cause of deforestation is cattle ranching. "Recent figures, released in Feb, 2009 by Greenpeace, confirm that beef continues to be the largest driver of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon". And who buys all that meat to make burgers? Yeah, the US and other countries around the world. Not only we're getting fat but we're also killing trees.

The standard Houses of americans and europeans is wood made houses, and Brazilians ( 'the ones who owns Amazon ' ) none of them lives on wood made houses so, stop building your country economy with our wood then amazon will survive.

if you search about brazilians politicians you will find that amazon lands were sold to lumber companies to cut wood, 90% of lumber companies in brazil are foreign companies most from USA and Europe

so dont buy it from here and Amazon will survive

@lateralcarancu That is 97% bull. Of all the deforestation that occurs, only 3% is for the timber. The rest of deforestation is done by slashing and burning, in order to produce fertile land.

@LFabiano09 Responsibility dictates that of the 3% for timber production that it should be replaced by the same trees. As for the 97% this is due to a large extent for food production while the EU has mountains of unused food getting spoiled and going to waste - although it continues to import cheaper food. The common agricultural policy is no small part bears a great deal of responsibility.
