It is quite sad to know that the Amazon was not protected from this problem of deforestation. I think it is the best time that we take action and stop the continuous deforestation of the Amazon rain forest as well as other forest's in the world.
From the looks of things the powers of the past and present had and still have a if God made it possible lets do it until indicators tell us not to do it mentality. We can see this mentality in products that were once very harmful to the environment but now have been made to do less damage to the environment. If we can't properly control ourselves how can we properly control anything eles?
Yes you can do something. Saying what a horrible thing it is to destroy rainforests isn't gonna help anything, but actually doing something about it is what's important. You can donate to organizations like Rainforest Action Network, or even the Sierra Club, both of which help protect millions of acres of rainforest and old growth forest in the U.S.
You can also make sure that when you buy wooden products, that they say from sustainably farmed trees or something like that.
I got the quote from mongabay.com, site which has a lot of information in the topic. Okay, so how's cattle ranching the main cause? Because companies are taking down large tracts of forests and are planted with African savanna grasses for cattle feeding. We need to stop this. If we eat less burgers then we are also helping the environment. When we kill trees, we're also killing ourselves.
Using wood for lumber is only one of the causes of the Amazon's deforestation. I did research for my project and it said that the MAIN cause of deforestation is cattle ranching. "Recent figures, released in Feb, 2009 by Greenpeace, confirm that beef continues to be the largest driver of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon". And who buys all that meat to make burgers? Yeah, the US and other countries around the world. Not only we're getting fat but we're also killing trees.
What are they going to take away the beautiful forest for? a sad plain with cows made for beef? A new movie about this? It's going to end up worse! People never think of the long term effects of things! or whats best!
@TheSmoothCriminal believe me, given the chance they will fuck it all up. The only things they haven't fucked up are the things they don't have control over.
Don't get me wrong, I love America, they make my life so much better, but some of their policies are messed up. The drug war for instance. You can bet if it wern't for America and all their political pressure most countries would have weed made legal.
@ontariobuds I'm sorry, how is this America's fault? Everyone is so quick to blame America, they forget to notice the real cause of the problem. In this case, Brazil's bullshit corrupt government
I didn't mean it that way, I meant it as one of those generic comments you see, always the same thing "americas fault". I was just reading an article last week in a magazine I stole from my dentist. I think it was maybe peru? they were getting land for cutting down forests. I could eb wrong on the location though.
@LFabiano09 The USA is an easy target. If Brazil did not have markets in north America and Europe then the financial desire to destroy the forest would not exist.
Hi, I was wondering if I could use this video on my website: amillionfootsteps.weebly.com to help raise awareness on deforestation. It is a great video and I think it would be great for my website. Thank you so much! -1998OJ
I think there should be faces of all the world's leaders up there...and please add some "horns" to each one? lol...I know it's not funny, but it's so ludicrous! Without doubt, many of man's actions have been well intended. But as is so often the case, we simply do not know enough about the environment to predict the consequences of our actions accurately. The results have been devastating!!!
Brazilian people have the right to do whatever we need to do it. The same way, the BP has the right to explore oil ...spilling all over Mexico Gulf.
Just rich Countries have the right to explore the available resources? REMEMBER: GLOBE WARMING IS A JOKE!!!!
Hey! Welcome to NEW WORLD ORDER, soon the Anti Christ will appear and all the resources will be availabe to him so he can control everything and everybody . NO PURCHASES WITHOUT THE MARK OF THE BEAST WILL BE ALLOWED!!.

Hi, I am showing your youtube video clip to a class lecture tonight as an introduction into the deforestation of the Amazon Forest. Great images and music. For a small clip I think it has a powerful effect. Students will love it. Thanks - Betty (Auckland, New Zealand)
@grantsrus Hello, thank you for doing this. I am glad that I could help educate people in this sad but unknown problem. Keep up the good work grantsrus
The standard Houses of americans and europeans is wood made houses, and Brazilians ( 'the ones who owns Amazon ' ) none of them lives on wood made houses so, stop building your country economy with our wood then amazon will survive.
if you search about brazilians politicians you will find that amazon lands were sold to lumber companies to cut wood, 90% of lumber companies in brazil are foreign companies most from USA and Europe
@lateralcarancu That is 97% bull. Of all the deforestation that occurs, only 3% is for the timber. The rest of deforestation is done by slashing and burning, in order to produce fertile land.
@LFabiano09 Responsibility dictates that of the 3% for timber production that it should be replaced by the same trees. As for the 97% this is due to a large extent for food production while the EU has mountains of unused food getting spoiled and going to waste - although it continues to import cheaper food. The common agricultural policy is no small part bears a great deal of responsibility.
A very lovely video in deed but the message behind the video is the key element here and we must force our governments to ban all deforestation and find other means of employment for these organizations and yes it is sad that they have strip our forest in Guyana and exploited our native rights and lands too
THE ANSWER according to the Cousteau Society is sustainable agriculture powered by the indigenous tribes. the best testament to that is the Amazon Herb Co. the largest importer of Rain Forest botanicals.
Thank you for such a lovely video, it`s so easy with our busy lives to forget the important foundations on which we exsist. The rain forest is such an important part of the world and needs to be protected.
if people aren't moved by species loss or the loss of planet varieties that are used in medicines........then maybe this might move them about the consequences of losing the rain forrests............and that is that 1 out of 5 oxygen atoms we breath throughout the whole planet come from them.......that's 20% of our air folks.......

The rainforests will eventually be gone and turned into farmland and then desert.
Will the worlds destructive human population be around then? Who knows?
Economic growth has priority over what the natural world can sustain and when depleted we will look for pandoro and raze it to the ground.
Don't you just love human nature!

É claro que o Brasil tem interesse em preservar a Amazônia. Muitos esforços são feitos para preservá-la e ainda temos a maior floresta do mundo.
Estamos conseguindo reduzir o desmatamento. Pesquisem "Brazil's major victory in reducing greenhouse gas emissions"
