A Cafe Racer is not just any old bike with clip-on's and a big tank. Cafe Racers are British bikes, not these Jap pieces of shit! The whole scene was born in Britain, and it was more than just following particular trends, adding or taking bits off your bike, it was an entire way of life.
In fact, you could go as far as to say; what makes a Cafe Racer is a combination of both the right bike and the right rider. You need both elements to have a true Cafe Racer, not just an imitation, as above!
Be creative, look at the bike and decide what you want. It'll cost money, but local metal smiths and fabricators can make whatever you want (sometimes for less than pre fab parts) Most important is to have fun and make what you think is cool!
Yeah coool bike.... but 30 bhp? Come on, is that enough?> I am looking for a second bike. My current is a KTM duke 2, which is 625cc, and 55 bhp. I am just not sure I can appreciate something with such low hp... my first bike was a vtr250 and had 35hp............. 30 hp? is it enough?
Did I say 30 hp? It's ported and flowed, over bore by 3mm, hi comp piston, Megacycle full race cam, titanium valve retainers, carillo rod and CR flatslide pumper carb.
It's pushing 50 Hp - and at under 300lbs, it's a damn fun bike to ride. If it's not for you, get a CBR or YZF and you'll have all of the BHP you need. Ride safe.
Cool bike man. I like the digital spedometer. I also like the one tach gauge. Keeps it European esque. Good video too man! Amazing what a lowering in brightness and a shaking effect can do to your level of badassery!
I have a small bicycle speedo tucked down by the left fork tube. It keeps me honest to about 80 MPH. After that, I'll let the cops tell me how fast I was going!
@troutthunter - It's been over a year since i've boght my GS400 as a base bike to become a Cafe Racer, and since then my girlfriend don't let mi forget I've spend 1500 PLN (about 500 dollars) for it.
Nice bike and nice video (also music!). I'm turning a TU250 into a little cafe racer and I've seen that seat from japan. Do you remember where you got it?? That's just the idea I have in my head! Thanks and well done mate!
Thanks for the Kudos! The vid was done on iMovie. Shot with our Olympus digital camera. Music Is by The Greenhornes, the Song is "High Time Baby" I loved the song so much, I made the video around it. I spent a few minutes making the bike too :-)
VERY GOOD VIDEO! Loved it. Certainly like the SR, but I'm all about videos. I make plenty myself, but none as good as this. Very well done. Looks like you put a lot of time into making this. Just Curious....what editing software are you using? I use iMovie and have pretty much hit the point of diminishing returns.
Masterpiece....

How hard was it to jet the CR Carb?
RumiandMie1961 1 year ago
@RumiandMie1961
FCR blows for jetting. I suggest a CR round slide and a dyno professional. a touch less power but a ton more reliability and enjoyment.
