  • "Suddenly It´s not like you have this... You only have this" ahahahah

  • thinking of getting his sig delay pedal next week, anyone recommend an alternative or something i should think about about before buying, any info appreciated

  • @racingandmusicmylife A delay is a delay, there are better ones than others but it's mostly digital or analog...analog seems to be the trend right now, like the MXR Carbon Copy wich gets good reviews. Sig. gear is often an existing product re-labeled like the MXR Zakk Wylde overdrive wich is a MXR GT-OD, but a little more expensive. Have fun shopping!

  • Normally i practice my legato on dorian it's easy and when you are new to dorian it makes you more retaining it !

  • i cannot trust that joe show is song so openly he have a good heart :O most of musician don't show how it's easy ! :P

  • i think i can handle figure 12.

  • no dr. evil looks like joe satchriani ....thumbs up

  • he looks like dr evil

  • I love how he's not like I'm better than you..but that you can play this if you practice and try.

  • orgasm tone.

  • 4:13 oh my god very sweet lick

  • grande

  • sounds like Kirk. i wish Joe cud teach me too

  • love his tone

  • Satch is Zeus among the rock gods

  • @bw213 hahah everyone is gonna be really sad when satch dies because they didnt realize he was actually jesus

  • 0:31 Sexy Little Thing!

  • part of it yeah haha

  • Joe rules

  • hes got the best rhythm tone in the world.

  • Its just two picks O.o and im like WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?

    you rock joe! you rock!

  • omg look at the heads behind him! xD

  • hes sounds tired..

  • Klummster88

A rake is a technique that can be use to add a little percussive spice to notes. This is done by adding one or more "click" sounds right before sounding a note

In other words, just before you hit a note u scrape the strings on the way up. alot of blues players use this technique, such as Stevie Ray Vaughan. kinda hard to explain in words. hope this helps

  • Erm, in answer to Klummster88, I'm not exactly sure what rakes are. I think it's those quick pull-off notes that goes down the strings(to lower notes) rather than going up, but I'm probably wrong.

Experiment with what sounds right, and feels good to play; they sound pretty good here whether I'm right or wrong about what they are.

  • A rake is where you drag the pick over muted strings.

  • Fig 11 remind's me of Albatross by Corrosion Of Conformity for some strange reason. Thank's for the upload man.

  • That note at 4:13 is full of WIN.

  • SUCH A TASTE, a master.

  • What are 'rakes'?

  • When you drag your pick across the the strings using a "sweeping" or motion. Usually added to emphasize certain notes.

  • so its just sweeping?

  • sweeping is too ways like back and forth but a rake is like a single sweep, just up or down!!

  • ok thanks, thats kinda what i meant by 'so its just sweeping'

but thanks for makin ur point =P

  • I love how his philosophy isn't "Can you play this?" but "Will this speak emotionally?"

  • Thats dead right dude most probably the best 2 sentence comment saying how joe's art of playing is

  • mentaloaf sayd SRV "couldn't play nearly half as fast..."?

I beg to differ, go watch Leave My Little Girl Alone from Austin City Limits...

And he did that on 13s without any sweep or economy picking.

  • I love the part at 4:12 it sounds like a cat ^^

  • :D :D :D Yup! hah

  • Petrucci is a pretty good teacher check out the rock discipline videos...helped me a lot, and for pinch harmonics, i think dimebag is the Shit...also he couldn't play nearly half as fast as any of these fuckers but Stevie Ray Vaughn could play the fucking socks off any of these speed guys live....

  • what magazine is this from? can we get the tabs for the figs?

  • GODLY tone.

  • the best guitarist is not measured by fuckin speed as what young other guitarist expected, the important is that how you play by emotions, technique, and skill got it !

  • EXACTLY!!! Why does the youth of today think that all you need to be a great guitarist is just freakin' speed.

  • Because much of the youth of today don't know what good music is.

I'm part of the youth of today but there are no good guitar players out there today that cater to the youth of today.

  • yep they all like rap and thoose disney channel actors that just got in because of there looks or there parents are famous.............

  • Paul Gilbert is a phenomenal player and musician, but Joe is ALSO an amazing player, and musician - and BOTH are really good teachers, in my opionion. They both have different things to share, but they are both really good at breaking down concepts, principles, and examples - and this is why I love youtube so damn much! I have the best guitar players/ teachers in the world educating me!

  • I'd kill for that guitar

  • I´d kill for that TONE!!!

  • @vanesola What tone??? Lol

  • @vanesola Simple, get an Ibanez (not the cheap Indonesia one, a high end japanese with good pick-ups) a bit of reverb and a JSX amp, of course it's mostly in the hands...joe could sound like himself on almost any gear.

  • @vanesola check out his rig in the back ground... all you need is that stuff :P

  • The "JS" eurosticker on Joe's amp is my work! How friggin cool!

  • where can i get tab for this...

  • you cant sorry

  • Why the fuck would you need tab's for? Use your fucken ear's and eyes you dummy..lol

  • that's exactly what I say =D

  • @92stone Rofl.

    Fail.

  • No hooly1000 Steve Vai is the master of harmonics... And pretty much anything else guitar related. However, Joe is one of the best teachers there is. Try to get Vai to show you any of his stuff... Might as well put the guitar away and try banjo.

  • i agree that vai is good but paul gilbert is the best great teacher and his lessons are far superior than satch. i dont think vai is the best at all just my two cents

  • no mate gilbert is not the best teacher does he explain alot of his stuff proerly he tries teaching you things fast when you dont even know what note he's playing he needs to do it slow satch describes things properly and actually shows you all the modes

  • i really don't see were satch teaches u slow he just mumbles over his own words. now if your defending him because he's your favorite then thats a different story but lets be clear he is not the best teacher great guitar player not a best.

  • Steve Vai is the master of harmonics?

    *cough*Dimbag*cough*

  • I listen to both. Dimebag rocks but Steve is the master of harmonics.

  • er no.. satch taught steve vai and many great guitarists out there like kirk hammet. so satch is the best guitar teacher out there. paul gilbert is a fast player but i think satch is better, everything song he plays, melody, rhythm is perfect.

  • I agree, Its not all about how fast you can play, thats a bullshit fantasy image of what a guitarist should be. Its like indoctrinated into young guitarists to become fast fucking fools. Some of joe's songs are so easy to play. Like if i could fly is pretty simple i would say at the start but fuck isnt that melody in the chorus just the best thing ever.

    anyway :)

  • is he in standard or half step?

  • standard

  • is this from a purchaseable video? It keeps giving references to figures, and I'd love to buy the book :)

  • no sorry its not purchaseable or tabbed out i got this lesson from guitar world

  • god

  • he"s the master of harmonics

  • Why can't freaking Zakk Wylde play anything with pinch harmonics like that? He just does one and it squeals and he goes back to what he was doing before.

  • joe satriani is a master ,

    steve vai was his pupil,

if i suscribe you suscribe back??i'll suscrib

  • kirk hammett too

  • ooooook that whammy bar / pinch harmonic bit was what id been looking for for months... finally gonna be able to make my guitar scream!

  • thats cuz he's giving a fucking lesson shithead u do my fucking heading google fucking boy go search some fucking gay porn on google and i think there's a sex tape of me and ur mther on there to

  • do you honestly think im in year 7 if you add 3 years on to that you will find im in yr10 o yes if you watch joe giving lessons on youtube you will find that he says a good guitar player just dosent play notes they play with feeling infact take nearly every single joe song its so beautiful that he says there is always a story behind the song and you have to evolve the song from that and always play with feeling!! yes my balls have dropped and i believe that yours never will

  • i love satriani and i think that he plays with a lot of feeling

and tenth graders having pussy fits is also pretty hilarious. im not sure your mother would approve of that kind of language young man

  • dude thanks for your comment if you liked the vid please subscribe and i will sub back!! im 15 im allowed t swear my mother alllows it lol

  • cool -------> J/K

  • try another song , flying in a blue dream for ex.

    this was just a lesson

  • Listen to ballads like "always with me always with you" for feeling and not lessons dumbass....

also u cant teach music, its upto the player to create it, all u can teach is scales and techniques, which he is doin pretty well..... His students like vai, hammet or timmons are already legends....

  • thats the most ridiculous thing that i have ever heard .. boy get yer head right

  • i meant the passion from the first comment i replied to

  • awesome lesson

  • cool, he rocks, nice guitar too

  • did u get ur epiphone les paul 2day

  • no, getting it friday

  • cool lesson!!
