  • Great video! I just bought an '86 B2000. I'm going through it area by area....fluids, tune-up, brakes, etc. My spring time project is a timing belt. Though I have the 2.0L, the engines look the same to me. Question...do you have to remove the radiator for this project? I would think just the fan. I know you were putting a new one in anyway, but mines seems in good condition with no need to replace. Can I get a way with just removing the fan? Thanks!

  • @firstmusic00 If you are only changing the timing belt you should be fine leaving the radiator installed.

  • @marksworld13 Thanks....and great DIY video!

  • Great vid, I've been thinking of putting a Weber on mine - how did you find the fuel consumption when you put the Weber on tho?

  • @pogly100 Sorry I've never checked the mileage difference after installing the weber. I now own 2 mazda B's and not long ago put a weber on the second truck. They are a great simple little carb.

  • @marksworld13 Yes, I used to have those carbs on my 2 litre Escorts (Australian/British) and really liked them but those little cars sure liked a drink!

Good that you didn't notice the difference in mileage when putting the Weber on tho!

The stock carb constantly gives me grief too, so I might try and find a Weber. Thanks for the reply. :)

  • wish i lived near you. maybe i can get some work done on my mazda

  • Thank you! This is super! My only question...How come you didn't change the water pump as well? My friends are telling me that if your in there, you should change it too?

  • @jslane47

Good question. The water pump in this motor had around 60,000 miles on it when doing this video, so it seemed premature to me to replace the pump at that point. I'll replace the water pump next time around on a new timing belt, that would put about 120,000 miles on the pump.

  • @marksworld13 Thanks! I just finished the timing belt project on my 1990 mazda b2200. I would never had the confidence to do this project without your video.

  • Conversion carb kits are available from Redline and Weber Carbs Direct. You can go directly to there websites or find them on Ebay and Amazon. I got mine from Weber Carbs Direct, a 32/36 DGEV which is the standard replacement size. They offer a 38/38 model for high performance engines. If you go electric choke make sure the wire to the choke always has current, if not the choke will fail to open fully. My weber is now 8 years old and runs like new.

  • Where did you get that carb from? Just wondering...

  • Thank you! for this video! it worked great and the truck runs great as well...

  • This will also work for the 86-87 B2000 some of the bolt on stuff is different but the belt change is pretty much the same
