ludwig once turned up to a performance of his new pieces shortly after losing all written testament to them. he played them all from memory! i think that shows his pedigree on the piano and in general, amazing!!!!!!!
@KatShaw162 soloists almost always play from memory. Sviatoslav Richter has a score in front of him because he once had a memory lapse, but nobody else does. Anyway, Beethoven was a phenomenal improviser, and if he deviated from the written score, (a) who would know?, and (b) it would be authentic anyway, however he played it. Beethoven's genius doesn't consist of being able to do parlour tricks.

I assume so, considering he wrote it. It seems logical that he would've played it at one point.
It's a very difficult piece, incredibly fast, it would require a highly skilled player.
