A Moscow region court has declared books and brochures by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard as extremist, the Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement Thursday.
The Shchyolkovo town court, at the request of local prosecutors, ruled that Hubbard’s book “What Is Scientology?” and “several other” brochures “call for extremist activities” and include “humiliating characteristics” of people depending on their social status, the statement said.

There are many studies showing that psychiatry and medicines created by psychiatrists, as well as those created for psychiatric purposes, work. Medicines are generally tested before their use is allowed. Actually there are objective tests for whether or not things work. There are a number of claims made by scientology with regards to abilities gained at various levels - none of which have ever been scientifically validated.

If it is not repeatable on demand, it is not science. If a result can not be reproduced in a controlled setting and/or was never observed by an unbiased observer or recorded for later observation and/or analysis - then it can not be considered factual.

Which is why you perform the study on a reasonably large population (say 20-50 in both test and control group) and do not inform the subjects in either test or control groups as to the purpose of the study. The bottom line is it is possible to structure an objective scientific study for this.

Given that none of the participants know the purpose of the study, none of them have a reason to be deceptive. However we have to allow for a small chance that someone would make up a phobia just for fun/attention/pathological lying. Increasing the size of the population will marginalize this "incidental" deception and will make statistically insignificant for the final results. All of these are basic principles of conducting studies.

You do not need objective subjects for the study. That is the whole point of the double blind study - the subject do not know if they are receiving a treatment or the placebo and the testers do not know if they are treating someone with a problem or a healthy individual. Besides, how could a person pretending to have a phobia get one on a trained scientology auditor. Wouldn't that be automatically detected?

Is there any perfect organisation today? However the stuff on the net is distorted also introducing discredited info. I've read skeptic tank/xenu since 1986. It is not a perfect organisation, but its goals are specific and it does help others? If you met scientologists informally you would be shocked how nice they are, really. My wife was.

Feeling good about helping others is priceless would you not agree? I'm an ex-member and was dissatisfied with the last services and discontinued in 1986. I read the hostile sites for years but found nothing of any worth. My stepdaughter did some low cost Scientology courses and changed from dropout to college student. Is that bad?

Hubbard was convicted in France in absentia which is unconstitutional in common law. In fact they didn't know whether he was dead or alive. The war with the IRS is over. Scientology won. This is 2008. Again, a frivolous law suit by a lawyer does not make a lawyer or its client a criminal. It's been 3 yrs and a lot has happened since. My question to you is, are you still a scientologist? I reached the *level* of "clear" & did a lot of courses, incl. the KTL and LOC, among others. I was at the "Portland Religious Crusade" & helped open up the Dominican Republic to Scientology by running purifs & establishing a mission. I gave Scientology up in 2005 after 27 yrs.

You are copying verbatum old cut and pastes found in xenu and skeptic tank and are identical on other posts. I've seen these a lot. This is why Cabereta came unstuck when she called for a ban on Scientology 2008, The German goverment stated no evidence existed to support such. The reason I asked about helping others is most people against Scn have an adverse fear of helping others.

So you would not help in sucha situation. I knew so. When you save a life that is help. Not one single anti-scientologist lifted a finger during 9/11 Instead A.R.S mobilised the press to avoid mentioning Scientology or filming them. As an ex-member I began to realize how insane A.R.S. really are and don't understand why some scientologists in their own time (taking time off work) would do this.
What were David Msicavige's words. Did he shoot himself?? I don't think so.

Whichphilosphy. I live in China Beijing as a Troubleshooter for a Chinese state company. Bathing was a problem because of water shortatges and poverty. Things are improving even in the poor farm areas. So you wouldn't help in a Tsunami, bomb attack either I take it. Is that correct?

Taznc. Re Chenobyl. Actually I agree in part. When I did courses we were not encouraged enough to go out and help others on such a big scale. I'm at fault too. Nowadays the C of S is more organised and encourages its members to apply the tech outside. Would you also assist in such a disaster again?

whichphilosophy, actually thwere is a video on youtube which shows david M telling an audience that lrh took his own life. he describved it as "moving to the highest level".

Hubbard died from a Stroke, no one in the C of S said otherwise. Hubbard did not dictate to the Board of Directors. Choosing presidents and Chairpersons is like any other organization.
Traces of the drug were found. It is used to treat the effects of Horse Fleas. Hubbard lived on a ranch for the later part of his life. This is common for dealing with allergies. This was conveniently missed in the 'anti' reports.

taznc25 Such claims lack merit and are nonfactual. Since payments are voluntary, how can these be demands? The propaganda campaign against Scientology and Scientologists is a mass brainwashing campaign according the text book. For instance non factual information disseminated for (even when discredited 60 years ago) is just one sample of controlling populations with lies. It worked in Nazi Germany.
