@Rovahead Yes the street is Clara St in 1955 with Scotswood Rd running across the bottom of the street. That is Dunston 'B' Power Station across the river. If you google Dunston Power Station you should find a photo of the street with Michael Caine standing in it.I hope you enjoyed my slideshow.
Visiting my grandparents, who lived in Whitley Bay. I would frequently accompany my grandfather into Newcastle in mid-fifties. We would visit the docks at North Shields. The bus used to terminus at the bottom of a steep hill. Which freaked me out since it seemed we would drive right into the briny.
Really love looking at old photos of cities, especially cities I know, live in or have visited. I live and work in Newcastle and these photos are absolutely top rate. Thanks for posting the collection.
