Hi Peter! Just had a QSO with you on 40 meters. Most enjoyable!! Thanks! It ends up Ive seen quite a few of your videos allready mate! Both Matty and I are very impressed with your work! We Will keep an ear out for you mate!! Best 73's!! VK1MAD. (Shane).
Peter, really keen to build one of these. I take it beehive caps are rare as I can't locate them in AU. Ebay has some at 30pf which I guess would reduce the available bands. Where is the best place to source electronic parts (hamfests)? Jaycar aren't really good. Could try rockby I guess.
@melbourneradio I'd be buying a couple of those eBay caps. 2 in parallel will give you up to 60pF which will be fine. It might be hard to get low enough minimum capacitance for 10m but you could always make the loop slightly smaller to compensate (I'm thinking of doing this for mine so I can cover 29 MHz FM on mine).
Look for old VHF radios for beehive trimmers - preferably lowband - moorabbin hamfest in a week or so is your best bet.
At the risk of repeating myself Peter... Another fantastic video...amazing results from an old length of extension cord and 5 watts. I'll have to catch up with you one day for one of your now-famous beach radio sessions! Regards, Craig VK3VCM
What a great video! I'm looking to build a loop for the patio. I'm thinking walking around with one is good for picking up the ladies now ;)

I think you should consider a kite antenna. Awesome.

@vk2tpm I've wondered about that - but might run out of hands - and I'd hate it to tangle with a parasailors!
