You know, I always wondered why someone just doesn't say "Your "Ls" sound like "Rs". That's what makes Japanese folks sound odd when they speak in English. You would just think someone would really drive that home to them. Then they would sound so much better. Maybe they don't realize it?

I understand that the Japanese are native to an entirely different language, and I do struggle to pronounce foreign words sometimes, but sooner or later I get it right. So I haven't been able to understand why phonics so simple as "th" and "L" are so hard to grasp.

How do you think I found this video? I'm a huge fan of his games, and I'm eagerly awaiting ZOE3. But I certainly don't worship him as a god. He's an outstanding developer, one of the best and most innovative yet.

If you think about it, the Chinese and Japanese have no words that have the tongue motion like "th" or "L". So the way they would have to say it, is "R". I took a Chinese class in high school, I've been through a lot of weird words, but none had the muscle movement of "L" in it. There are probably some words we wouldn't be able to pronounce in Japanese, but meh.

Also, English is the hardest language to learn because there are a lot of random rules to remember. So give it a rest.

Yeah, it was fun. I'm sure there have been some Chinese or Japanese that have practiced that tongue motion, but I'm not sure. To us, English is easy because we were born with it, unless you haven't then you'd know what I'd mean about it being the hardest language to learn. It has a lot of stupid rules to follow that seem to make little sense to others at first. (Some barely make sense to me.)

English is HARDLY a hard language to learn. This comes from someone that speaks 3 different languages, and I wasn't taught English until I was 10 years old. I'll admit it isn't exactly EASY, or that it's easy to MASTER, no language is easy to master, but English is definitely not what I'd consider hard to learn, and it most definitely isn't THE hardest.

I'd say Japanese is easier, and Spanish/French and all the other Romance languages pretty rank high up there in the easy scale.

If English weren't hard, it wouldn't be a major in college.

There is a major on pretty much every relevant language in the world.

Japanese makes you deal with memorizing tons of characters, French makes you deal with annoying spelling. Spanish was my first language, so, I can't comment on how hard or easy it is.

Of the languages I'm learning and the ones I've attempted to learn, English was by far the easiest.

Honestly you're probably right. Frankly I think those old dead languages that no one ever speaks is probably the hardest. But you probably understand that as you get older it becomes increasingly more difficult to learn new languages. I'm also relatively certain that I heard this from my English teacher. I'm not too sure on the difficulty, but with all the dumb rules to remember I would find it annoying. (Thankfully I learned it a long time ago.) I have to commend you, your english is good!
