@moonskip Hello last remaining caveman, shrimp, like many water dwelling animals, draw their oxygen directly from the water. If there is sufficient water, there is sufficient oxygen. Plus pebbles aren't a food source for shrimp in any way, they're pebbles, that's all. There is algae in the microcosm that grows independently at varying speeds depending on the light source and that is what the shrimp eat, not pebbles, it also produces oxygen. The only sad story here is that of your education.
I once bought one of those Ecospheres for $150. Three of the shrimp died within the first 4 months, and the last one died about 2 years later. It was pretty cool, but I wouldn't pay that much for it again. I've taken pondwater and put it into an old soda bottle, and it still has things swimming around in it after 4 years,
It's basically one step above a pet rock. You don't have to feed it or clean up after it, but at least it moves around. And you do have to interact with it to a slight extent. You need to make sure these ecospheres get a moderate amount of light every day for the algae to feed on, or the shrimp will starve.
300 dollars!!!!!!! shrimp at the pet store are 1 dollar and a plant is 3 dollars plus sand is 3 dollars plus a few snails is 3 dollars plus the tank 5 dollars plus a few fish 3 dollars total 20 bucks. biggest rip off ever
I always found those things to be interesting with kind of a cool, austere look. But I'm starting to realize that you can start up a good shrimp tank on your own for maybe a fifth of the price.
im planning on making one but im broke right now so itll be a little while til i can afford the jar, sand, plant, shrimps, and snails(i tink i may make alot then start selling them since hey go for like 300 dollars on the internet i can make a nice profit =D)
have one of these, that my brother got me for my birthday one year when i was 9 now im fourteen, and there is still one shrimp living in it, and has been for ever

Chris i have one question for you:
i´ve seen ecospheres with two or three shrimps
if one shrimp dies water turn poissonus?
MarcoTUV 1 year ago
@MarcoTUV Nope, the shrimp is decomposed and the ecosystem becomes more nutritional.

@ChrisGabz How is your sphere 1 year later?
RazorWar360 1 year ago
@ChrisGabz
What are those animals going to feed on? You need some kind of algae or plants in there to provide a food source.

How is this the perfect pet? You are supposed to interact with pets, even fish.

so what happens when the shrimp die?
RippersToll 3 years ago
Just what I was thinking lol. You can't exactly get re-fills :)
Arvenohx 3 years ago 3
you send it to the company and they put new shrimp in the container.
AnnagoneBANNANAS 3 years ago
So, then its not a totally self-sustainiing mini ecosystem.
RippersToll 3 years ago 3
Well, it's like if we were on mars. Then people would reproduce, but sometimes the shrimp don't do that all the time. haha. i have one, LOVE IT!
