*smile* - no, it is not at all because I got the same feelings all the time since my jouth whenever I heard the song from the animals.
I mean it is simply a great song with great chords. You can find this very often within folk music and the roots of this song are somewhat "folk"-like.
Thank you - and nice greetings back to Bulgaria, a country with a long and good accordion tradition, just like Hungary, Greece, Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania... (I should have said better all the rest of Balkan)...
I am glad that you like my version. Hungary is one of those countries with a great history concerning folk music and dance - and especially in conjunction with accordion too. But I must say at the same time that the whole balkan range has produced lots of nice and different styles. Thanks for your comment !
This is one of my fav songs and the way you played this song on the accordion is amazing! I don't know if anyone asked you this, but how long did it take you to master the accordion? Hopefully I can be as good as you someday. Do you also take requests? I really want to hear some songs on the accordion. Keep up the great job! :)
Thanks. It took many years. Please read my vita by clicking on LibertangoVieenrose. I take requests as I did in the past. I don't know when I will be able to process them because I am pretty busy with training for a local church group and future concerts at the moment. This (and the fact that I try to learn new instruments) is the reason why I had to put my "list of future projects" far behind me. Feel free to put your request online - I'll do my very best, as quick as I can.
It's like a bluesy sailing song. YOU ARE AMAZING!!!! Have you ever thought of recording and puting your stuff on iTunes. This is definitely worth recognition.

I didn't have the time and energy to do a full cover on this original version. This version wasn't supposed to be "complete" - but you are right, I should do that. The keyboard fill-in / solo is a marvellous thing, a "must play". Yes, I will do it. Currently I am working on 4 different projects and got my first songs on trumpet (Lili Marleen, La Montanara) started, what caused a delay. My accordion... well... that's the reason why I bought this old bbbb (body builder black box) ;-) - oldie but unique goldie. I've heard many accordions (the real ones, don't like electronics surplus). Most of them got their unique, very specific sound, not "better" or "worse" - this doesn't hit the point - but in a totally different way and mood. Very nicely played! I love the sound of your instrument as well. With the strength of its low end, it's almost as if you are playing with a full scale pipe organ.
Yes, I agree to what you wrote. It is somewhat close to pipe organ within special registers...
because some registers (pipes) of organs do use the same principle of sound creation (so called FREE REED) - like harmonicas, accordions, bandonions - and this makes the sound quite similar. Nevertheless pipe organs do have much more registers and a much wider range on scale.
So, one can say it is like a kind of "mini organ"... ;-)
Yes, I am german. Does it matter ? Call me european if you like... works too. But german sounds as bad as american, russian, chinese or whatever. It's the same story everywhere - country, skin, religion, profession - this is what people look at and ask for... most often ignoring the person behind. A pity... you know what I mean ? It's how one looks at it, what glasses you wear. Actually I hate this question: Are you... ??????
Never mind. I hope you can (are able) to understand. Peace !
thx for your answer. I understand your point and basicly I agree with you. My question was more or less out of curiosty, because like everyone we have favored places in the world. I really like germany and interessded in german culture too. It´s not a question of nationalty/origin, but of real interesst in forgein country. Hope you´ll understand this aswell.
German culture - yes, there is really a lot - not just music. I am interested in foreign countries as well but I saw here on YT so many crazy postings when it comes to "country" (yes, we all have our favorite places and homelands). The more we look around on globe, the more likely we change our point of view and will see things different.
So, you think it is curious a "german" plays this on accordion ? Why is it ? (this is a worldwide known song)
well, usually one should always see it as a unit - lyrics/text and melody. But I know for sure what you talk about ! I do feel the same way with many other songs... beautyful melodies don't always mean great lyrics at the same time (and vice versa). Most of the songs I play just because of the melody (and rhythm, sometimes).
Yeah... you hit the point. I did that - for sure I did - and believe me: I would have done already distribution if there were not things like copyrights of composers and others...
as soon as you start distributing songs (download, CD) you'll have to take care of that - no matter if you sell or not. At the moment I am not in the mood to take care of all that additional administrational work. I simply don't want to get in conflict with copyrights. That's it. No MP3 download (at the moment).
at 1:46, I hit the "master"-register key" (sometimes refered too as "tutti" - what means all chorus activated). Most bigger (larger) instruments do have such a key either at the descant (right) side or as a "chin"-button (pushed by chin). It allows a very quick selection without hitting (searching for) the register button on the main corpus, what takes more time. I didn't push it well, used too much power - so you hear that loud clicking noise... one can do that much smoother (now I can).
...another advantage of such a switch (either chin or a kind of "bar switch" at the outer area of the keyboard) is the possibility to keep on playing and not removing hand off the keyboard. As a hobby-/amateur or even a standard player you mostlikely won't need such an option... but as a professional or concertplayer it will give to you nice performance-advantage or convenience.
You really don't need such an option for playing - but it is good to have it (sometimes).
The recorder is a "pure" instrument, to be compared (partially) to the accordion if you consider accordion played without bass and register like "oboe/violin/flute".
The sound of an accordion is richer in total. That means to me you will need at least a second or even a third voice (or multiple instruments played at the same time, chorus-effect) in a recorder group or orchestra to get close to it.
Nevertheless I love the sound of recorder too. One of those superb instruments, you know...
this is absolutely amazing! you are so talented, i wouldn't change a thing - completely flawless.
i have only been playing accordion for 1 year, and i get frustrated sometimes - but seeing players like you is very motivational. a true inspiration. thank you!
thank you... and you can believe to my honest words that I passed your "frustration" too - many years ago - and I can feel what you feel exactly.
Don't be confused by your feelings/emotions (bad moods) - you will bypass it. All musicians will have to pass these times earlier or later and sometimes over and over again. Just enjoy the music - think: it's fun. That's what it is ! FUN !
Playing - any - song is just a matter of time that you invest into your training. My question to you is: how do like this song played on the accordion ? Does it sound good ? What would you improve, what needs to be added, removed or changed according to your opinion ?
That was beautiful. I love good accordian playing and you do a fantastic job. I also have always liked this song. Everything I have heard you play so far is awesome!
To answer your question (assuming it was a joke ?)... Yes.
- do you play the accordion already and for how long ?
- do you play any other instrument already ?
- do you have the will, time, energy, money and the fun inside (!) to learn playing such an "oldfashioned" instrument (in fact it is not, but a high precisioned handcrafted and therefore expensive toy ... toy.. yeah toy - i like to play that toy more and more... the child inside.... children got their own view.
I thoroughly enjoyed your rendition of "House of the Rising Sun". You are quite skilled with the accordion and I really look forward to listening to more of your videos when time permits. This makes me want to get an accordion and give it a shot myself. FIVE STARS Mike from Missouri
Sometimes you will have to keep your mouth shut to stay alive. When things get too worse take a break... before starting again, but starting again is most important.
Yes, I have messed with the piano for years, even have a couple audios of me playing on my channel. I know the keys on the accordion, but those buttons will be a challenge. Oh well, maybe one of these days I'll get brave and take a stab at it. Your playing is AWESOME and I'll be back to listen to more. You are an incredible musician! Mike
Ohrwurm ?
great version i love your playing i am just starting again...could you simplify it for me? i would like to play it , but it is too complicated and you are too advanced...i am in awe of your technique....
Well, I don't have sheets. But I tell you no secret: I started playing this song short after beginning to play the accordion. It was in the charts (about 1964/65 I guess) - and at that time and some years later too - it was quite often played here in germany on the radio/TV.
This (my) playing on the accordion was a very, very basic one... single notes (no chords) and first without left hand (base). Step by step speed, chords and left hand were added. Just try !
You put me into trouble. I am so busy right now with other tings, that I hardly can find the time for my running projects and not even the creation of sheets... but thank you very much for your comment.
The arrangement is not available - i simply don't have one. The only choice you'll have will be to play the same way... from heart, by yourself, comeing up - bringing up everything in your own mind. I never found the time and the spirit to put it on sheets, honestly...
Thanks, I will get the piano sheets and see how it goes. I think you should definitely make a CD. Your covers are honest and from the heart which is what people really love. I can't wait to hear a blugrass tune. Keep posting and let us know when your CD will be out! Here's to keeping it real!!
I just wanna say that this video is very much an Inspiration, i have see this instrument rarely and never bieng played within a lightyear of the way it is in this vid, i love the song.
can you explain what are those black circular keys on the side of the accordion, seems like a million of them, and you are always pressing a diffrent one O.o must take years to learn, watever they are.
Well, actually the "millions" of black circular keys are only 120 in total. They are called "basskeys" and are positioned in special order (called stradella-system, or stradella-bass). This accordion has five tone-shifts (registers, big keys you hardly can see) on the left side as well - but I usually use only 2 or 3 of them.
Basic learning takes some month.... but one can try for a whole life... ;-)
There exist 3 systems. Stradella is the common, most used one. By pushing one button, you can get complete chords in major, minor, diminished... but just in one octave range (without any registers).
The other system is called "freebase". It does not have the octave-restriction, playing single notes instead but no chords.
The third one is "Converter" and a mix of both. Usually you can change keylayout/behavior via a switch between "Stradella" or "Freebase". (expensive, rare, complicated).
This is very much an Inspiration ? ... great, it's supposed to be. One of the reasons why I play my songs here is to inspire joung (nevertheless older) people to start learning this great sounding squeezebox (again). It can give big fun to you (after some years... and if you do it right, just from the beginning of your exercises). :-0
wow i really thoroughly enjoyed your e=rendition of the house of the rising sun. i am new with the accordion, and would love to learn this piece the way you put it to life. is there perhaps a chance you could re-record it where you show the bass keys of the left hand? i am very curious, and this is my all time favorite song. and by the way, the TURKISH MARCH IS AMAZING!!!
it's summertime - even here in Europe. Gardening and other work take much more time than in automn, winter and spring... but I guess honestly that I will have to disappoint you. This song grew up over many years in my mind since i was much, much younger... beside the fact, that my camera is giving me more and more problems, and i will publish from now on mainly my music.
Listen to it over and over, try to copy on your own, experiment on it... step by step you'll succeed.
by the way, is anybody out there, who has got some sheets on american (canadian, south-american) folk or dances written for accordion ? I'd be very pleased about Square-/Line-dance or Country (!).
Please let me know (boardmail) - at least the source where i can buy or order it.
You should show us here how you perform on that singing.... and don't worry about some failures - nobody is perfect. We are musicians and have got the chance to improve all our life through...
Oh, I forgot about this lovely song from the sixties almost completely... you are right... something i should cover. I'll do that - for sure. I took it in my projects-list already.
I really like this rendition. I don't know anything about registers - I don't play the accordian. I play flute, clarinet and trombone. :) For about 20 years.
But I like it. I think you got the sound down perfect; it's a treat to listen to!
Well done but the register is not right. Perhaps it is the Hohner sound but it doesn't sound appropriate for this song. You play it well, with feeling and style, and the dark sound is good but the Hohner treble timbre bleeds through too much. Thanks for the video.
Brilliant! Bravo :)

I mean, where did you get the notes and stuff?
Did you acctually play it off guitar chords?
Please answer me...
5arp1k 2 years ago 3
Thanks !
But how did you know how to play it?
- how do you sing a song that you heard on the radio ?
- how do children play songs on instruments without knowing a single note ?
- You don't need konwledge about notes to play any instrument, YOU JUST DO IT !
I mean, where did you get the notes and stuff?
- It's in my head, always was.
Did you actually play it off guitar chords?
- Not on this song but on others. It's another way (solution), it will work too at least with the basic chords.

Awesome,i never liked what the spoke of but i like the melody
corporalkills 2 years ago 2
well, usually one should always see it as a unit - lyrics/text and melody. But I know for sure what you talk about ! I do feel the same way with many other songs... beautyful melodies don't always mean great lyrics at the same time (and vice versa). Most of the songs I play just because of the melody (and rhythm, sometimes).
LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
good point sir,Im glad you post these, they are great! ever thought of an mp3 download?
corporalkills 2 years ago 2
Yeah... you hit the point.

Oh yeah, that can be a bother. Too much to mess with.

Excellent performance!
What are you striking with you had at 1:46?
I have a small Fisarte with just 24 base buttons and I have no idea what you are toggling!
hokodo 2 years ago
ok, youtube plays like a second after the time I wrote more like 1:44?
hokodo 2 years ago
at 1:46, I hit the "master"-register key" (sometimes refered too as "tutti" - what means all chorus activated).
LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
...another advantage of such a switch (either chin or a kind of "bar switch" at the outer area of the keyboard) is the possibility to keep on playing and not removing hand off the keyboard. As a hobby-/amateur or even a standard player you mostlikely won't need such an option... but as a professional or concertplayer it will give to you nice performance-advantage or convenience.
You really don't need such an option for playing - but it is good to have it (sometimes).

i'm trying to play this on recorder, but isn't beautiful as in the accordion.
thank ya for this video!

M4EMHC 2 years ago
The recorder is a "pure" instrument, to be compared (partially) to the accordion if you consider accordion played without bass and register like "oboe/violin/flute".
The sound of an accordion is richer in total. That means to me you will need at least a second or even a third voice (or multiple instruments played at the same time, chorus-effect) in a recorder group or orchestra to get close to it.
Nevertheless I love the sound of recorder too. One of those superb instruments, you know...
LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
Not to be mistaken:
The accordion is considered to be a "modern" instrument, in opposite to those "classics" like
- panflute
- recorder
- violin
- bass/cello
- cembalo/piano
- oboe
- harp
....

i have only been playing accordion for 1 year, and i get frustrated sometimes - but seeing players like you is very motivational. a true inspiration. thank you!
kxvt 2 years ago
thank you... and you can believe to my honest words that I passed your "frustration" too - many years ago - and I can feel what you feel exactly.
Don't be confused by your feelings/emotions (bad moods) - you will bypass it. All musicians will have to pass these times earlier or later and sometimes over and over again. Just enjoy the music - think: it's fun. That's what it is ! FUN !

Thank you for your compliment.
Playing - any - song is just a matter of time that you invest into your training. My question to you is: how do like this song played on the accordion ? Does it sound good ? What would you improve, what needs to be added, removed or changed according to your opinion ?
LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
That was beautiful. I love good accordian playing and you do a fantastic job. I also have always liked this song. Everything I have heard you play so far is awesome!

paolo11499 2 years ago
So you like it - i guess.

Thank for your nice comment, Mike.
Did you play any instrument before ?
If not, expect it to be like a marriage:
- a great day when you receive the squeezebox
- lots of work, time and money to build the house
- fun at the weekend or at the "happy hour"
- fuzzing and fighting to learn from
Do you know how a marriage is ?
Sometimes you will have to keep your mouth shut to stay alive. When things get too worse take a break... before starting again, but starting again is most important.
LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
LOL! A pretty good analysis I would say!
Mike

nintendofreak476 2 years ago 2
Ohrwurm ?
LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
nintendofreak476 2 years ago
LibertangoVieenrose 2 years ago
insa07 2 years ago

Thanks a lot for your comment.
Just try !

Gruss Akm
Akkordissimo 3 years ago

musicalpariah 3 years ago 2
Thank you so much for your comment.
The arrangement is not available - i simply don't have one. The only choice you'll have will be to play the same way... from heart, by yourself, comeing up - bringing up everything in your own mind. I never found the time and the spirit to put it on sheets, honestly...
LibertangoVieenrose 3 years ago

Airforce2142 3 years ago 2
;-)... (*laud laughing*)
thanks for your comment first !
Basic learning takes some month.... but one can try for a whole life... ;-)
LibertangoVieenrose 3 years ago
There exist 3 systems. Stradella is the common, most used one. By pushing one button, you can get complete chords in major, minor, diminished... but just in one octave range (without any registers).
The other system is called "freebase". It does not have the octave-restriction, playing single notes instead but no chords.
The third one is "Converter" and a mix of both. Usually you can change keylayout/behavior via a switch between "Stradella" or "Freebase". (expensive, rare, complicated).
LibertangoVieenrose 3 years ago
This is very much an Inspiration ? ... great, it's supposed to be. One of the reasons why I play my songs here is to inspire joung (nevertheless older) people to start learning this great sounding squeezebox (again). It can give big fun to you (after some years... and if you do it right, just from the beginning of your exercises). :-0

Well my friend...
it's summertime - even here in Europe.

I really like this rendition. I don't know anything about registers - I don't play the accordian. I play flute, clarinet and trombone. :) For about 20 years.
But I like it. I think you got the sound down perfect; it's a treat to listen to!
SilverDragoness 3 years ago
Well done but the register is not right. Perhaps it is the Hohner sound but it doesn't sound appropriate for this song. You play it well, with feeling and style, and the dark sound is good but the Hohner treble timbre bleeds through too much. Thanks for the video.
SCHULTZZKOPF 4 years ago
I honestly doubt about the fact, that it is a "HOHNER-Sound"-problem. Maybe it is (my) problem of not selecting the right (appropriet) register...
if you say, it is not appropriate for this song, you must have an idea about what exactly is appropriate for it !
so, which one would you suggest (there are so many available on this instrument) ?
- single chorus,
- narrow tremolo,
- wide tremolo,
- musette,
- single/high octave...
