Removing a feeding tube isn't euthanasia. It's withdrawing treatment, whereas euthanasia is basically assisted suicide or mercy killing. Complete hypocrisy anyway from these far-right politicians who are doing all they can to stop the public administration of health care to then talk about a society's responsibility to sick people. Their funding cuts will end up killing many more people than Terry Schiavo and effectively constitute withdrawing treatment from much less uncontroversially alive ppl
We live in a Country where we have people who want the government to demand that a PVS patient be kept alive against their will yet those same people likely want the government to let people die of potentially easily curable problems just because they have no health insurance. The Pro-Life movement ladies and gentlemen, always consistent.
is anyone surprised by his comments? No one should be, on every conceivable issue Lieberman leans as far to the right as he possibly can without falling over. Brain Death is DEATH! we already know this! you can't murder someone who is already dead!
I've always respected Joe Lieberman, but on this topipc he shows himself to be a total moron devoid of any knowledge about Terri or her wishes or of any of the logic involved in the court decisions regarding the removal of her PEG tube.
The great shame is that Terry Schiavo..regardless of if you think she was brain dead or not..we do not know FOR SURE if she suffered. And with that..the shame..is that she died worse than a dog! Where is Kevorkian when you need him?? At least his patients dies with no known suffering. Why does the church and pro-lifers get to determine how long YOU get to suffer. Fuck em!
She didn't act too much like a veggie from the video I've seen. Her mustache feather backed husband probably didn't want her being able to talk one day about what really happened in 1990.
I would want my family to call the shots.I wouldnt want my husband to....You never know if they get married or how they would feel differently about you
What the Bush administration and Jeb did to Terri Schiavo is unAmerican! Also, her parents had no right to fight such an inglorious battle with law. carolloving
no offense 2 terry and her fam but this is rlly an insult 2 our country million of people die in Darfur but this 1 woman can make headline news 4 about a year and a half that say a lot about our country's priorities
yea she made headline news for over a year or so but apparently people still didn't give a shit if she died or not, right? what if a loved one of yours was in terri's situation? wouldnt you want people to know how saddening it is and have them face reality?oh wait, who cares about your loved one because that's only one person out of 64 billion in the world that's getting headlines about them. thats an insult to our country. get a brain dude, this is a priority..we are just completely heartless
1st off i didnt say no one give a shit bout her deres nothin wrong wit caring bout her i didnt say anything like dat. wut im sayin is our country can talk about 1 woman in a bad situation for over a year but millions of people in a bad situation dey dnt giv a fuck about unless it involves us fighting a war against them
i get what you're saying, but it shouldn't take millions of people dying or millions of people in terri's situation for people to stand up and say 'hey we need to stop this' I shouldnt have directed my last comment at you, i'm just pissed at how unthoughtful and heartless america is about these things..
and also the only reason why she was always on the news was cuz her husband tried to get money out of her by taking out her feeding tube. the media just thought it was a good headline :(
There were already laws against killing anyone in Terri Schiavo's situation. How many new laws does it take before one of them is respected by the out of control judiciary?
Ironic the GOP is concerned about staying out of peoples lives and states business, but has time for this? Ironic how they can start Iraq war, unilaterally with little reason (which turned out to be NO or ZERO reason), costing +4,000 USA soldiers lives and may be 100,000 innocent civilian lives from direct and indirect consequences. That is OK! Hypocrites.
You don't read the news paper or watch the news much do you? Most of Gov is in an orgy with business and lobbyist representing them, the highest profile areas being: defense, energy, financial, medical & health and trade, just to name a few areas. The fact is the type and level of intrusion. Let me guess your gay? Sorry the people voted it down.
The HUSBAND is the next of kin. If you get married and want your spouce to call the shots, write it down. Bottom line she was severely brain damaged (FACT) and could not live off of life and feeding tubes. To keep her alive like that.........would you want that? Bill Frisk (R-TN) said she was fine, Bush turned a Air Force 1 around to sign in emergency legislation. Should the GOV be doing that? I thought GOP was for less GOV not more. May be they should have been watching Iraq, Econ and Energy?
Yeh living as a vegetable sure is living up the american dream. Talk about quality of life. the worst part of this entire scenario was that everybody exploited it to push their own arguements against each other and we completely forgot that we are dealing with real people and their families here.
Republicans want big government out of your life. What a fucking joke, they wanna interfere with a husbands decision to allow his wife to die with dignity. DESPICABLE, no other word for it.
Probably the only time I will agree with Lieberman - Terri's life was not for the Judge to or not. I think when Terri's Parents took the hardline with her 'husband' the pawn in the battle became terri. So very sad that we starve humans in the US -per order of the court. SICK.
By the time the feeding tube was removed, Terri Schiavo was already dead. Her mind was gone. All that was left was a shell, a lump of matter. They were feeding a corpse.
This may be true - I dont know. What I do know is that when in doubt - lean toward the benefit of the doubt. I find it particularly cruel to have removed a feeding tube from a questionable circumstance ( my opinion)- especially when our military is force-feeding an alleged "enemy combatant" in an attempt to stop him from taking his own life in order to inflict control and ultimately more torture.
That's an ugly way to talk about people with brain injuries. I suppose it's easier for you to advocate killing them if you insult them first and pretend they're subhuman. Mrs. Schiavo's humanity was intact. Yours is in question. But don't worry, I wouldn't advocate killing you for your thoughts.
Again, her mind was gone. There was massive damage to her brain. Her brain weighed only half as much as it should for a female with her weight, height, and age. This was due to loss of neurons.
When logic, reason, and facts can't persuade others as to your line of argument, throw in Hitler, the Nazis, & the Third Reich. The 'reducto ad Hitleram' argument- or Godwin's Law.
I hereby nominate this stupid "hoggdawn" bitch for the YouTube Idiot of the Year Award.
Im not too familiar with the case, but wasnt she a vegetable or something like that?
Give me a fucking break, stop wasting food and water on what is basically a dead person. Those parents were just greedy and kept clinging on to a lost cause. If I were ever put in a similar situation, I'd want to be killed immediately so they could put my organs to fair use. Selfish, self absorbed people living in a fairy tale world looking to put a stop to nature's course. Let them die with a bit of dignity.
Yeah, it is a pretty right comment. I certainly wouldnt support these beliefs via voting for him but you cant just call him all right if he makes a comment twoards one side. Gray area is a necessity in our society; answers arent always black or white and neither are government representatives.
My counterargument about life is what Terri Schiavo wants.. May be she wants to die in peace and without pain, versus a life forever in PVS... have you thought about that? How can Libelman professed to tell us what she wants? HE DOESN'T KNOW!
@Loxandra1312 so your saying you are also pro murder bitch. Terry cried out to her doctors and nurses bitch, dont be so damn prodeath dont u know your own life could be taken from you?
agreed, no hes right, would you want to go on like that, the brain scans showed there was no hope, it was not possible to come back from that, her brain was destroyed!
I am a 62 year old survivor of a severe stroke. I did not know anything as I was in a coma for about three weeks. Through my mother and fathers prayers, all of my friends and family's prayers, God granted me another 31 years of life. He loves me! And I believe that He loves every man woman and child. God alone has the say in who and when a person dies. If it is time, a person dies. If it is not time it is not time. We should be more like human beings and not death seekers.
...all you can hear is a chilling groan that almost sounds as if she was crying out. That to me, doesn't sound like a happy life. I believe in God, I know he's there. In heaven, Terri is not living with what she suffered with on Earth. She is the woman her husband married, she is the daughter her parents bought into this world, she is perfect and without a doubt in my mind, she is happy.
Real love is learning to let go when the moment calls for it and sadly, that's something her parents could not do. They could not let her go (which is perfectly understandable, but was it the best for Terri?). If she were alive today, would there be any difference, would she have improved? What would the world have gained? Nothing. Her husband let her go because he couldn't stand to watch her suffer any longer. If you listen to audio files of her father trying to speak with her...
Of course there would have been a valid reason of hope & a possible chance that she'd pull through but after the first few years, that's all her parents and family were wishing on; hope.
And her husband, did not want her dead. He trained to become a nurse and therapist for her. If your partner had been in such a state for such a long time, finding in hard, you would move on and I believe that that's something Terri and any partner would want for their significant other...
Sadly & realistically there was no hope for this poor woman. If you read the article on Wikipedia, it suggests that the cause of her cardiac arrest may have been due to her trying to keep her weight down and not eating or drinking the right foods (not suggesting this was her fault).
She spent 15 years in a vegetive state which only worsened as time passed.
It's hard to accept but she wasn't going to recover...
P-Moron? Are you there? Have you abandoned your quest to make the world safe for the murdering the disabled? And was your sleep filled with the beforementioned vision of dehydrated corpses and anguished mothers? Did that make you feel empowered? Have you thought more about how to rid the world of the earth-threatening phenomena of maternal love and devotion? Have you been wracking your brain over how to give more legal power to husbands who want to kill their wives? Sleep well.
I was here crazy lady. I already responded but you decided to go completely batshit insane and show the world how crazy you were. No one is trying to "murder the disabled" as you claim. Her rights were upheld more than they ever would have been if you were involved in the case. Maternal love isn't overriding the wishes of your own daughter for your own personal desire or gain. This had nothing to do with a husband who wanted to kill his wife he could have done it long ago without the court
Your persistance in answering me makes me think you had a personal interest in her death. What was it? As for me? I had an interest in her life. Why? I'm human, P-Moron. Does it make me holier-than-thou to be concerned about the sick and disabled? You have disparaged my motives at every turn. Why? Your commitment to death belies your sad, sad moral state. And I don't wish to always compare you to nasty men like Hitler, but the similarity is stunning, don't you think?
P-Moron, you ask the question of what I would want for myself? If I thought my "meaningless" life would bring joy to my mother she could keep my on that food tube until hell froze over. That is important, P-Moron. Giving and recieving love. If I can do it fully aware and cognizant? Wonderful. If I can do the same thing with limited functioning? Then sobeit. But what is it in you, a self-attesting "normal person", who would want it any other way? Are you the spawn of Dr. Kevorkian?
Ah, the ever-lovely P-Moron and his inane ramblings. Again, I ask: why would it have been any skin off you ass if Terri hadn't been killed? Why was her life such a burden to you? There was money for her care. There was a vibrant, loving community around her. There was a mother who cared, who loved. And then there was you---representing the politics of hate and death. Her very life-breath was an offense to you. And I ask you why? But you cannot answer.
The Pinelas Park police ENFORCED the STATE DECREED killing of Terri Schiavo. This should chill every citizen in this country. The police were "only doing their jobs". Just like the guards in the Nazi prison camps. Just doing their jobs. Save some people, kill others---hell, its all in a days work, huh boys?
This was not a state decreed killing. Medical treatment was withheld in accordance with her wishes. This kind of shit happens everyday in America I don't see you spending every waking moment going into hospitals and stopping people from making their own choices. Apparently you're all talk and don't have the courage to stand up for your convictions. Another weak simpleton.
For the umpteenth time: Why was Terri's life such an affront to you? You say it has something to do with what you did to a loved one of yours. I don't connect the two. What did you do? And why does Terri's death make it better?
It wasn't an affront to me Hogg apparently it was to you because you're still talking about it. Terri's wishes were carried out according to what she told people. Why is her having a choice such an affront to you? Why do you feel that you have to act totalitarian and control other people? This shit happens all the time in this country and you don't hear about it because families don't usually fight over it and act selfishly and try to drag the media into it.
Her death was and still is an affront to me and any person who has a shred of decency in his/her soul. Tell me of "these people" who Terri talked to. Who were they? And don't bring up the husband, who we realize had a vested interest in her death (the girlfriend, the kids, etc.). And you say I act totalitarian? Oh my gosh---you demented idiot. I act "totalitarian" and people live. You have your way and people die agonizing deaths. Yeah. Yeah. Real smart, pal.
Hmmm. Terri's husband wanted her dead. He had gone on to a de-facto second wife w/kids. Some thought he may have had something to do with Terri's injury. The Mom, interestingly enough, wanted her alive. Terri herself left no written indication of what she would have wanted. Her life gave her mom and many others MEANING. The facist state enforced her killing. And our lovely "PogueMoron" is ecstatic. All so interested. So very interesting.
Terri's husband didn't want her dead. Do you not understand that as legal guardian he could have had the plug pulled on her 15 years ago and there was nothing the schindlers or you could have done to stop him. He was well within his rights to do that. Instead he let the court decide. He stuck with her and took care of her and made sure her wishes were followed. The schindlers encouraged him to date and they had met his girlfriends and got along with him before money was involved.
Oh! Terri's husband wanted her to live! Then why did he demand the presence of Pinelas Park police to enforce the death edict? Why? Why? Where do you pull this stuff from? Demented, death-loving fool. But good news! The world is getting more pro-death and pro-war everyday! You are winning, pal! Does that excite you?
Terri told several people she didn't want to live like that. If she had a written will the family still would have ignored it they didn't care what her wishes were. They would have claimed that she wasn't in the right capacity or frame of mind to write that will, etc. Your ilk are against written directives because it makes you lose control of the situation. There was nothing facist about it. Get ahold of yourself
And who would these people be? Do you know them? And why would their claims be superior to her mother's? Again, fool, why would her life be any skin off your demented ass? And could you explain your charge of hyprocrisy? Do you find it interesting that I get agitated over the brutal, state-sponsered killing of innocent people? Guilty as charged, and proud of it!
Again I ask: What is your interest in this case? Why was it any skin off your ass if Terri lived? Terri's live had in incredible amount of meaning---true meaning, to many people, most importantly, her mother. That is a very lofty goal that somebody like you should aspire to. Why was her profound disability so threatening to you? What are you afraid of? Why the acute paranoia? Why the morbid obsession with death?
I already answered your questions several times. If you had ever had a loved one in a similar situation you would understand. It wasn't Terri's mother's choice what happened to her no more would it be if your adult children made a choice. You have no say in it and neither did she. What terri's mother wanted was selfish and was a betrayal to Terri. It was always about what Terri wanted. You seem to not care what Terri would have wanted if she told you herself you would not have respectedher
And how do you know, oh-wise-one, that I haven't had a loved one in a similer situation? Again I ask: why was Terri's life any skin off your ass? Feeling a little guilty for "offing" a loved one, are you? Don't look for justification from me, pal.
Its all in the way you talk Hogg. People who have had to live through that choice dont talk as you do. Only people who don't understand the complexities of the situation talk as irrational as you do. I don't feel guilty for offing a loved one its what they said they had wanted. I can respect my loved ones wishes you on the other hand care nothing about yours.
Oh, yeah, and you understand all the complexities, don't you, oh-wise-one. Life is so damned complex and dirty. Rough edges. Not simple and clearly delineated. I know! A solution! Lets just kill the people that we think are making our vaunted lives complex! How novel! Terri's life reminded us of what could happen to us. Of our mortallity. Quick! Lets kill her! Ahhhh---doesn't it feel better, pal? Nothing like when an innocent person is killed.
Seek help Hogg apparently you can't handle the internet. God took Terri's life not man. Maybe you should be mad at him instead. I would think hypocrites like you would be happy that Terri was in heaven.
And why, oh-exalted-one, do you raise the evil spectre of hypocrisy over me? Do tell! Do you find my support of the maternal bond threatening? Did you have a Mommy who didn't love you like Terri's did her? Can't handle it? Think killing the innocent will assuage adolescent angst? Clarify your hypocrisy charge! I'm all ears, bro!
Maybe I should act as insane as you and say the following.
"Oh great one what pray tell do you have against Terri being in heaven. Do you think she hates people like you who tried to make decisions for her. Would you have forced her to stay in that condition for 30 years, 50, 100? You're so ignorant and selfish blah blah blah your mother didn't love you" Do you see how ridiculous you sound? Trying to control a person and ignoring their wishes isn't motherly love its selfish.
Do you think every mother that protects the life of her child is selfish? Like I said: lets pool our resources and fight against the monster that is maternal devotion! And, I suppose if we kill everybody, we'll all be in heaven! The only one in this discussion who is patently ridiculous is you, friend. You'd have an innocent child killed against her mother's wishes to placate some deficiency in your own soul. Go to your mosque, church, synagoge or non-theistic 12 step program, would you?
This has nothing to do with protecting her child. She wasn't some little kid she was an adult able to make her own decisions. Her family decided to ignore her wishes and do what they wanted not because it was the best for her or made her feel better but because it made them feel better. That's selfish. Terri wasn't some innocent child jackass she was an adult. Stop treating her like some little girl. Free choice is something taught in any bible which is something you'd readily deny her.
Just show me some evidence. Where are all these people who would claim Terri wanted to starve and dehydrate to death? Where are all these people who would claim that Terri wanted to deny her mother the pleasure of her very existance? Where? And once again: why was Terri's life any skin off your ass? Give me a real reason---not some, "well, my loved one needed to be killed, too, and, well, it was the right thing to do, so that means Terri should have died, too." Nonsense.
Check the court documents. Its obvious you don't know a damned thing about the court proceedings if you actually have to ask me. She told several people she wouldn't want to live like that. I've already given you an answer stupid. Enough with the holier than thou art attitude knowing you if your loved one was in a similar situation you would totally ignore their wishes and do whatever you wanted. Youre pretty demented.
Where did you go, P-Moron? We were having such a delightful little conversation. Now, I fear I must retire for the evening. Have sweet dreams of dehydrated corpses and anguished mothers, would you?
Thats what you dream about crazy lady. I'm a normal person I don't think everything in life has a connection to hitler like you do. Maybe youll grow a brain in the morning. The sad irony is what happens if you end up in the same situation would you want people to let you go or would you have them keep you alive indefinitely where you have no control over anything?
I've changed my mind. I now think it is a good thing to rid the world of all this human debris. Abortion, euthanasia, wars and the elimination of the parasite classes will be so wonderful. As you can see, I've matured. It feels so good to have left my childish notions that were so naive. In terms of Terri's mother? Why, her pain is something that was so cool, wasn't it? Don't we feel powerful knowing we caused another human being to feel the ultimate pain---the pain of a child's death?
Now you're just childish. Maybe its time to check yourself into a psychiatric facility for a long break. You seem to have this uncanny ability to compare apples to watermelons. Her mother had no rights to her that is something that happens when you get married. Terri was gone the night she collapsed but instead of doing the right thing the parents kept her alive for years upon years. They still haven't gotten through the grieving process because they're still in denial.
For 15 years though????? I'm sorry but she has no chance of coming back!!! It may sound selfish but I believe these people had no rational thought in this situation at all though, religion should never have been involved in this topic at all because of course its not relevant. Did feeding tubes exists in the time of Jesus? Of course not so end of story.
End of story for you. Not the end of the story for Terri's mother, who you have condemned to a life of misery. For there is no greater pain than that of seeing your child die. Are you proud that you, in part, were an elemment of causing Terri's mother so much grief? Does that make you feel powerful and Godlike? Does it give you the megalomaniac's high?
I haven't condemned her to a life of misery. She did it herself because she doesn't move on like normal people would. I had a loved one in a similar situation and eventually you learn to accept how things are. God took Terri away not man. Instead of doing something constructive like moving on the family has decided instead to milk Terri's name for money. I have no part in causing Terri's mother grief. It is all on herself. Instead of accepting how things are they stay in denial
You and those of your ilk are depraved beyond belief. Terri only needed nutrition. She was not on any life support mechanism. Still, I ask: why was it any skin off your ass if she lived? This is what infuriates me: her living caused nobody any pain. Her death did---and still does. What is your interest? Are you just on some kind of ego trip that likes to pick on the most vulnerable in our society?
Enough of your ridiculous ad-hominem attacks. Terri needed more than nourishment, she needed a new brain. Her body was deteriorating because anoxic brain damage is progressive and she would have only gotten worse and worse. You're being stupid over and over again. If you ever had a loved one in a similar situation you would understand as I do. It's not our choice its the person who is in that condition. If they didn't want to stay then there's nothing man could do to stop that.
Usually I am against attacking somebody personally. However, I find you to be obnoxious and selfish beyond belief. The life she was living made her mother happy. While her mental faculties didn't live up to your requirements, I think the point I'm trying to make is that I don't give a damn about your requirments. Your philosophy means less than nothing to me. You are sick, you are absurd. Her life, as it was, had meaning---possibly more than yours will ever have.
You're the only one being obnoxious and selfish here. This once again had nothing to do with her mother. Her mother stated in court she didn't care what her daughter wanted she would have amputated limbs and done open heart surgery just to keep her alive. Now thats whats sick. This wasn't her decision this was her daughter. She wasn't some pet to keep around and play with she was a human being.
Man---maybe you are right. I'm now thinking that the biggest problem in the world today is the irrational love mothers have for their children. What can we do to lessen this earth-threatening, non-productive maternal bond? I guess killing Terri was a good start!
I can only bow and pay homage to your incredible intellect. Have you ever wished you were God? Have you ever wanted to be worshipped? Do you have megalomaniacal visions of grandeur, power and glory?
You hypocrites should be happy that she's in heaven now and no longer stuck in that shell of a body she had. She's in a better place now isn't she? Or are you so afraid she might be somehwere else?
I like Lieberman but I disagree with him. She was not naturally living, she was kept alive by a machine for what, 15 YEARS!!!!!!!! Wow thats something I would never want, I'd want to live a natural life as God intended not be hooked up to some feeding tube. I think the religous right is retarded when they think that this murder and playing God when keeping the tube in was playing god you idiots!!!!!! Of course I would write a will saying that would be my wishes.
Oh, oh, lets go through the hospitals and kill all the sick people who don't live up to your standards of what a happy life could be! Then we'd all be happy! What a wonderful world it would be! Those nasty feeding tubes! Christopher Reeves had one---we should have killed him, too! What a good example he could have set!
My god you're getting more ridiculous and childish by the second. This isn't about what you want it is about what people in those situations want. Again Christopher Reeves had the ability to swallow, think, and was self-sentient. Her brain was almost completely gone she would never have been able to even swallow again much less actually communicate with people. You're the only one recommending we kill people here crazy person.
Please read my new comments. I've matured, and now have embraced the pro-death cult of America. In terms of Christopher Reeves? I'm sorry, but his life didn't meet my expectations of happiness; hence, he should have been starved to death.
wats all the arguing about?! SHE WAS A VEGITABLE!!! if she was concious in any way or aware, i'm sure it suked. would u wanna live for years that way. forget starvation for a sec, they coulda given an injection to put her out. wen something simple becomes ssooo complicated. gosh.
The hospitals are full of this human debris. Lets kill 'em all! Think of the money we could save! We can invest that money in extending the Arian race! Hitler would be so proud of people like you!
Once again you go from zero to godwin in half a second. Do you even realize how crazy you sound even with your other accounts? No one is advocating what you're advocating in your comments. What happened was medical treatment was withheld as in accordance with what she wanted. She told witnesses before her collapse she wouldn't want to live in that condition. The fact is medicare would only pay so much and wouldn't pay for futile rehab.
What is your interest in seeing that this woman died? You are sick, dude. And excuse me if I accidentally used someone else's account. Her life made her mother happy. I suspect that is more than you can say for yourself.
Hahaha excuse you for "accidentally" using someone else's account. You posed as someone else and was too stupid to sign out and into your name. I had no interest in seeing this woman died the fact remains she told people she didn't want to live like this. This was never about her mother, her husband, her siblings but about her and what she wanted. Are you saying that what a grown adult wants doesn't matter if their parents want to override it.
PogueMoran, what is your interest in this case? Why are you so adamantly pro-death? Why was it any skin off your ass to have Terri live? For me, it was all about her Mother. Do you have any kids? Anyone you love? Or perhaps, more appropriately, does anyone love you? Are you jealous because nobody would possibly come to your aid, since you are so obviously self centered and conceited?
You should do stand up Hogg. Seriously all you have to do is talk and people would laugh at you. You're the one making this about me I'm making it about Terri. In the end this had nothing to do with the mother, father, husband, or you for that matter. It had to do with her. She told people she didn't want to live like that and so the court determined in accordance with her wishes. Now are you so selfish that if one of your kids made a choice to have medical treatment withheld youd ignoreit
If your kids were in a similar situation and told you ahead of time that they wouldn't want to live like this and they were adults at the time, would you respect their wishes or totally ignore them?
The hospitals are full of this human debris. Lets kill 'em all! Think of the money we could save! We can invest that money in extending the Arian race! Hitler would be so proud of people like you!
If Terri's mother wanted her alive, that should have been the end of it. The government enforced her death. The fascist cops in Pinelas Park wouldn't let ANYONE in to give her so much as a drink of water. The arrogance of this country is off the scale. Millions of abortions. Wars around the globe. Polluting the envirnonment. Consumerism as the ultimate religion. America? Your best days are gone. Go away now.
she cant drink thats why she has a feeding tube her throat doesn't work and people all over die like this and its not made public. People don't really care they just want to make a big deal out of this to get rid of their guilt.
And what guilt would you be talking about? I can see that the people who killed Terri would feel guilty---why would the people who wanted to save her? Explain, please.
No one killed Terry but the almighty he let her die. Nature took its course as she had stated she never wanted to live in that condition. Are you really against people having free will? I'm sure Terri's parents should feel guilt for stringing along saps like you for many years when they knew in their hearts she was already gone. Sure doesn't stop them from still collecting money from saps like you while not having to work a real job.
They feel guilty cause they never cared about this before. Do you know how many people suffer from this same problem every year? They should feel guilty for just doing this cause everyone else is. They are treating her like a pet project. How many people even gave her a second thought after she had died? They think that if they make a big deal out her circumstance it will make for all the times they didn't care. That is their guilt
Who says they never cared about this kind of thing before? How would you know? The people I was protesting with there in Pinelas Park were involved in a wide array of social projects. Poverty, racial injustice, abortion---where were you? We have NOTHING to feel guilty about---the people who killed Terri have PLENTY to feel guilty about. You are so misinformed it is pathetic. Crawl back beneath your rock and pretend the world is perfect.
They didn't Robert Schindler removed his own parents off life support and didn't think twice about it. I don't see them lining hospitals or hospitals all over the US as feeding tubes are removed by legal guardians. The people you protested with were far outnumbered by the media. The media blew the protests out of proportion to make it look like this was some big thing when it wasn't. People like you and Gordon Wayne Watts are short on facts and only go so far with their "morals"
How many times does it take before you realize that TERRI'S MOM--HER MOTHER---WANTED HER ALIVE! And you would deny a mother her child? You are sick! If Karma exists you are in for a few really, really nasty lives, pal.
Her mother had no say in it Hogg. She lost her rights when Terri got married and chose her own name. You're the one who is sick. You think parents should own their children forever. Its more than obvious there's a reason Terri's immediate family didn't know too much about her personal life. Terri's family wanted to keep terri alive at all costs for their own selfishness. This is why they'll never get over the grieving process they're so in denial i pity them and people like you who enable.
Oh, you are so right. The criminal in this is Terri's mother who was so immature she just couldn't grow up and transcend those horrific maternal instincts. Thank God the state---and people like you---killed her. Maybe the ultimate good in this is that Terri's mom will mature, be less naive, and learn the hard but salutary lesson that the State is the ultimate God.
You should be careful before you tell people that they are misinformed. You haven't gotten a single fact about this case right. So tell me how many other hospitals have you gone to before the Schiavo case where you protested the removal of a feeding tube? This sort of thing happens all over the country everyday. It was an event sensationalized by the media and blown out of proportion by the Schindler family who at this point I truly pity. They will never get through the grieving process.
I don't understand your motivation. Terri's mother---HER MOTHER---wanted her to live. Yes, people might have their feeding tubes pulled. But when their MOTHERS are standing there wanting to spare their lives? And don't tell me I'm not involved. I volunteer at a hospital at least once a week where I help care for a beautiful young lady who is severly brain damaged. Don't dare tell me I'm not involved. You know nothing of me or what I do or how my heart goes out to those you'd kill.
Her parents had no right in the process. They lost that right when she got married. Obviously she didn't trust her parents enough to include them in her life. They didn't know she was non-practicing, they didn't know her wishes. You're not involved. If you were you would be going to hospitals stopping the removal of feeding tubes for everyone out there. Her mother once accepted the PVS diagnosis and went along with the idea of her having an eating disorder until the father took over.
Not to engage in ad hominum attacks, but you are patently inhuman. I hope and pray that people of your ilk are few and far between. Tell me: do you think it is a better world now that Terri has been killed? Does it make you personally happier? Do you wax sanguine at the thought of a devastated mother? It scares me that there could be heartless people like you in positions of authority. The world is growing colder every day. But not for long.
There's nothing ad hominen about it you used two different user accounts to try to back up your argument. There's nothing inhuman about where I stand as I know through the schindlers lost sympathy when they went into denial and will never go through the grieving process. Terri was not killed medical treatment was withheld in accordance with her wishes. There's nothing heartless about my position if you've ever had someone close to you in an end of life decision you'd understand.
Its so easier for you to sit on the sidelines and try to determine what you think is moral and decide for other people what they should do. The fact is God took terri 15 years ago and man kept her alive and God took her again 15 years later
You say "medical treatment was withheld"? What kind of disingenuous doublespeak is that? They wouldn't even let her Mom give her a sip of water! Now, I guess in your world that would be really advanced medical treatment, huh? Can't you differentiate between simple food and water and advanced life-support machines? ARe you medically ignorant? If not, you sure sound like it.
There's nothing disinegenuous about that. Medical Treatment was withheld. She couldn't given her a sip of water because she would have choked on it and died. Are you an idiot? She failed multiple swallow tests she couldn't swallow water. This would be the equivelent of if I poured water into your mouth while you were sleeping. You would choke on it or aspirate into your lungs and catch pnemonia. Would you rather they have done that? In reality a feeding tube is advanced treatment.
I would have rather anything be done rather than the slow dehydration and starvation that was imposed by the state. If she had died as her mother was trying to save her, so it was meant to be. But let us digress to what we agree upon: the need to lessen the earth-threatening, horrific nature of maternal love and care. That was at the bottom of all this---the irrational need for a mother to care for her child. Thats what really bugs you, isn't it? So anti-scientific. Horrors!
Oh so you're saying her mother possibly giving her pnemonia would be better than her having medical treatment withheld? Are you kidding? If she still had any capacity for pain pnemonia would have been long and drawn out and hurt more if she could actually feel it. You're assuming someone in the state of her mind would feel dehydration the same as those who are in perfect health. Cancer patients would often withhold their own nutrition and die peacefully.
Yeah, baby, you heard me correctly. Better to die at the hand of somebody trying to help than to die at the behest of a fascist state that only sees people in economic terms. Oh, don't you love the way the world has grown more and more wonderful since Terri died? When she died, I thought, "the hand of God's judgement will fall on this nation in a way that will not be misunderstood!". How wrong I was! Since Terri's death, everything is coming up roses! Aren't we happy? Huh? Huh?
There's nothing fascist about it you dumb bird. So you think its better to have someone actively kill you by a means slow and painful like pnemonia than to let nature take its course? See its crazy people like you who think 9/11 was our own damned fault and God's punishment. Come back when you get a brain transplant
If your god wanted her to live, she would have survived without medicine intervening. Funny how you call him moron, when you can't even see how moronic you come off.
Once again this had nothing to do with how her mother felt. Her mother had nothing to do with this, this was about Terri. Her mother didn't care what her wishes were and what she was doing was not realistic. Its the equivalent of people who get their dog's stuffed after they die. It does not help the grieving process. Everyone has to learn when to let go. What bugs me is your penchant for all things irrational
Oh, you play the irrational card again! Let me bow down in humble acquiesence to your wisdom! Lets see--other people had a problem with sentimental irrationality---oh, say, Hitler, Mao, Stalin, the Pathet Lao, etc. Then you have that irrational guy--what was his name---Jesus? Preached about love? Man, what a looser, huh? The things you could have taught him! But like I said: we need to pool our ideas against maternal love! Such an affront to your rationality!
You're the one being irrational here. Wow you just pulled out the Godwin card again. You know the first person to always bring up hitler is the one who loses the argument. Hitler thought he was actually doing God's work. So much for your philosophy. Yeah in Jesus' time when she wasn't breathing for 15 minutes she would have died. She wouldn't have had feeding tubes or had her heart shocked back into beating. Maternal love had nothing to do with this. It was more about making mom happy
You say "her mother had nothing to do with this"? Of course. I mean, what is a mother, right? Mothers of the world, be damned! Why would any mother want to have a say in the life of their offspring? This is the territory of the fascist State, and the all-powerful Husband, who has a de-facto second wife and family! Down with sentimental maternal bonds! Down with motherhood! Up with whoever you are and your wisdom and God-like pronouncements!
No her mother had nothing to do with this whatsoever. This was about Terri and Terri only. A mother has no right over her offspring when they get married. Terri made a choice to leave her family. This had nothing to do with maternal love or bonds. It had to do with the family saying they did not give a shit about her wishes and would have ignored her and did what they wanted to do anyway because it made them happy. They were selfish and they continue to show it.
All of your so-called arguments are just filled with sarcasm and holes. Usually I enjoy controversial discussions, but you're just annoying. You rely on straw man fallacies and the smoke screen of maternity. Open your eyes and try to see where other people are coming from for christ's sake.
You're the only one showing they're "medically ignorant" here as you can't tell the difference between "simple food and water" and a medical device. The feeding tube she had went through her stomach and only provided nutrients it did not stop hunger pains a normal person would have. In the state of Florida a feeding tube is considered life support. Its in Florida state law. So apparently you're the one showing themselves to be medically ignorant.
If the world were perfect, Terri wouldn't have felt the need to change her self image and become bulimic resulting in a potassium deficiency that cause her heart to fail, thus resulting in her vegetative state. She was already dead, no one killed her. She would never have been the same Terri that her parents knew. People try to insert idealism and are not rational. Besides her husband, by law was her next of kin. We should never change laws based on one person.
Terri's mother had no legal right to her. If the police did let someone in to give her water they would have killed her you. Where do you people get off thinking you know more than the doctors her examined her. She failed multiple swallow tests and during the autopsy they found proof she was aspirating into her lungs. You can't pour water into a person's mouth that can't swallow by themselves you would cause them to aspirate and catch pneumonia.
Hey here's an idea! Politicians can stay the fuck out of family tragedies! How's that sound?
Evenflowist314 5 months ago
Removing a feeding tube isn't euthanasia. It's withdrawing treatment, whereas euthanasia is basically assisted suicide or mercy killing. Complete hypocrisy anyway from these far-right politicians who are doing all they can to stop the public administration of health care to then talk about a society's responsibility to sick people. Their funding cuts will end up killing many more people than Terry Schiavo and effectively constitute withdrawing treatment from much less uncontroversially alive ppl

Fuck em!

That is OK! Hypocrites.

Bill Frisk (R-TN) said she was fine, Bush turned a Air Force 1 around to sign in emergency legislation. Should the GOV be doing that? I thought GOP was for less GOV not more. By the time the feeding tube was removed, Terri Schiavo was already dead. Her mind was gone. All that was left was a shell, a lump of matter. They were feeding a corpse.
Spartan9688 3 years ago
This may be true - I dont know. What I do know is that when in doubt - lean toward the benefit of the doubt. I find it particularly cruel to have removed a feeding tube from a questionable circumstance ( my opinion)- especially when our military is force-feeding an alleged "enemy combatant" in an attempt to stop him from taking his own life in order to inflict control and ultimately more torture.
peacesurpassingall 3 years ago
That's an ugly way to talk about people with brain injuries. I suppose it's easier for you to advocate killing them if you insult them first and pretend they're subhuman. Mrs. Schiavo's humanity was intact. Yours is in question. But don't worry, I wouldn't advocate killing you for your thoughts.
KiddVid 3 years ago
I never said she was subhuman. I said she was dead. What of her humanity was left alive?
Spartan9688 3 years ago
All of her humanity was left alive. It couldn't be killed as she was. It couldn't be eliminated by your own lack of humanity.
KiddVid 2 years ago
Again, her mind was gone. There was massive damage to her brain. Her brain weighed only half as much as it should for a female with her weight, height, and age. This was due to loss of neurons.

700pm1138am 3 years ago
Real love is learning to let go when the moment calls for it and sadly, that's something her parents could not do. They could not let her go (which is perfectly understandable, but was it the best for Terri?). If she were alive today, would there be any difference, would she have improved? What would the world have gained? Nothing. Her husband let her go because he couldn't stand to watch her suffer any longer. If you listen to audio files of her father trying to speak with her...
700pm1138am 3 years ago 2
Of course there would have been a valid reason of hope & a possible chance that she'd pull through but after the first few years, that's all her parents and family were wishing on; hope.
And her husband, did not want her dead. He trained to become a nurse and therapist for her. If your partner had been in such a state for such a long time, finding in hard, you would move on and I believe that that's something Terri and any partner would want for their significant other...
700pm1138am 3 years ago
Calling this murder is too harsh.

Sleep well.
hoggdawn 3 years ago
I was here crazy lady. I already responded but you decided to go completely batshit insane and show the world how crazy you were. No one is trying to "murder the disabled" as you claim. Her rights were upheld more than they ever would have been if you were involved in the case. Maternal love isn't overriding the wishes of your own daughter for your own personal desire or gain. This had nothing to do with a husband who wanted to kill his wife he could have done it long ago without the court
PogueMoran 3 years ago
Now, P-Moron, I really must take leave of your delightful company. Again, may I wish you sweet dreams of dehydrated corpes and anguished mothers?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Your persistance in answering me makes me think you had a personal interest in her death. What was it? As for me? I had an interest in her life. Why? I'm human, P-Moron. Does it make me holier-than-thou to be concerned about the sick and disabled? You have disparaged my motives at every turn. Why? Your commitment to death belies your sad, sad moral state. And I don't wish to always compare you to nasty men like Hitler, but the similarity is stunning, don't you think?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
P-Moron, you ask the question of what I would want for myself? If I thought my "meaningless" life would bring joy to my mother she could keep my on that food tube until hell froze over. That is important, P-Moron. Giving and recieving love. If I can do it fully aware and cognizant? Wonderful. If I can do the same thing with limited functioning? Then sobeit. But what is it in you, a self-attesting "normal person", who would want it any other way? Are you the spawn of Dr. Kevorkian?
hoggdawn 3 years ago

Save some people, kill others---hell, its all in a days work, huh boys?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
This was not a state decreed killing. Medical treatment was withheld in accordance with her wishes. This kind of shit happens everyday in America I don't see you spending every waking moment going into hospitals and stopping people from making their own choices. Apparently you're all talk and don't have the courage to stand up for your convictions. Another weak simpleton.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
For the umpteenth time: Why was Terri's life such an affront to you? You say it has something to do with what you did to a loved one of yours. I don't connect the two. What did you do? And why does Terri's death make it better?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
It wasn't an affront to me Hogg apparently it was to you because you're still talking about it. Terri's wishes were carried out according to what she told people. Why is her having a choice such an affront to you? Why do you feel that you have to act totalitarian and control other people? This shit happens all the time in this country and you don't hear about it because families don't usually fight over it and act selfishly and try to drag the media into it.
PogueMoran 3 years ago 2
Her death was and still is an affront to me and any person who has a shred of decency in his/her soul. Tell me of "these people" who Terri talked to. Who were they? And don't bring up the husband, who we realize had a vested interest in her death (the girlfriend, the kids, etc.). And you say I act totalitarian? Oh my gosh---you demented idiot. I act "totalitarian" and people live. You have your way and people die agonizing deaths. Yeah. Yeah. Real smart, pal.
hoggdawn 3 years ago
So very interesting.
hoggdawn 3 years ago

Does that excite you?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Terri told several people she didn't want to live like that. If she had a written will the family still would have ignored it they didn't care what her wishes were. They would have claimed that she wasn't in the right capacity or frame of mind to write that will, etc. Your ilk are against written directives because it makes you lose control of the situation. There was nothing facist about it. Get ahold of yourself
PogueMoran 3 years ago
And who would these people be? Do you know them? And why would their claims be superior to her mother's? Again, fool, why would her life be any skin off your demented ass? And could you explain your charge of hyprocrisy? Do you find it interesting that I get agitated over the brutal, state-sponsered killing of innocent people? Guilty as charged, and proud of it!
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Again I ask: What is your interest in this case? Why was it any skin off your ass if Terri lived? Terri's live had in incredible amount of meaning---true meaning, to many people, most importantly, her mother. That is a very lofty goal that somebody like you should aspire to. Why was her profound disability so threatening to you? What are you afraid of? Why the acute paranoia? Why the morbid obsession with death?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
I already answered your questions several times. If you had ever had a loved one in a similar situation you would understand. It wasn't Terri's mother's choice what happened to her no more would it be if your adult children made a choice. You have no say in it and neither did she. What terri's mother wanted was selfish and was a betrayal to Terri. It was always about what Terri wanted. You seem to not care what Terri would have wanted if she told you herself you would not have respectedher
PogueMoran 3 years ago
And how do you know, oh-wise-one, that I haven't had a loved one in a similer situation? Again I ask: why was Terri's life any skin off your ass? Feeling a little guilty for "offing" a loved one, are you? Don't look for justification from me, pal.
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Its all in the way you talk Hogg. People who have had to live through that choice dont talk as you do. Only people who don't understand the complexities of the situation talk as irrational as you do. I don't feel guilty for offing a loved one its what they said they had wanted. I can respect my loved ones wishes you on the other hand care nothing about yours.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
Oh, yeah, and you understand all the complexities, don't you, oh-wise-one. Life is so damned complex and dirty. Rough edges. Not simple and clearly delineated. I know! A solution! Lets just kill the people that we think are making our vaunted lives complex! How novel! Terri's life reminded us of what could happen to us. Of our mortallity. Quick! Lets kill her! Ahhhh---doesn't it feel better, pal? Nothing like when an innocent person is killed.
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Seek help Hogg apparently you can't handle the internet. God took Terri's life not man. Maybe you should be mad at him instead. I would think hypocrites like you would be happy that Terri was in heaven.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
And why, oh-exalted-one, do you raise the evil spectre of hypocrisy over me? Do tell! Do you find my support of the maternal bond threatening? Did you have a Mommy who didn't love you like Terri's did her? Can't handle it? Think killing the innocent will assuage adolescent angst? Clarify your hypocrisy charge! I'm all ears, bro!
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Maybe I should act as insane as you and say the following.
"Oh great one what pray tell do you have against Terri being in heaven. Do you think she hates people like you who tried to make decisions for her. Would you have forced her to stay in that condition for 30 years, 50, 100? You're so ignorant and selfish blah blah blah your mother didn't love you" Do you see how ridiculous you sound? Trying to control a person and ignoring their wishes isn't motherly love its selfish.
PogueMoran 3 years ago 2
Do you think every mother that protects the life of her child is selfish? Like I said: lets pool our resources and fight against the monster that is maternal devotion! And, I suppose if we kill everybody, we'll all be in heaven! The only one in this discussion who is patently ridiculous is you, friend. You'd have an innocent child killed against her mother's wishes to placate some deficiency in your own soul. Go to your mosque, church, synagoge or non-theistic 12 step program, would you?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
This has nothing to do with protecting her child. She wasn't some little kid she was an adult able to make her own decisions. Her family decided to ignore her wishes and do what they wanted not because it was the best for her or made her feel better but because it made them feel better. That's selfish. Terri wasn't some innocent child jackass she was an adult. Stop treating her like some little girl. Free choice is something taught in any bible which is something you'd readily deny her.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
Just show me some evidence. Where are all these people who would claim Terri wanted to starve and dehydrate to death? Where are all these people who would claim that Terri wanted to deny her mother the pleasure of her very existance? Where? And once again: why was Terri's life any skin off your ass? Give me a real reason---not some, "well, my loved one needed to be killed, too, and, well, it was the right thing to do, so that means Terri should have died, too." Nonsense.
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Check the court documents. Its obvious you don't know a damned thing about the court proceedings if you actually have to ask me. She told several people she wouldn't want to live like that. I've already given you an answer stupid. Enough with the holier than thou art attitude knowing you if your loved one was in a similar situation you would totally ignore their wishes and do whatever you wanted. Youre pretty demented.
PogueMoran 3 years ago 2
Where did you go, P-Moron? We were having such a delightful little conversation. Now, I fear I must retire for the evening. Have sweet dreams of dehydrated corpses and anguished mothers, would you?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Thats what you dream about crazy lady. I'm a normal person I don't think everything in life has a connection to hitler like you do. Maybe youll grow a brain in the morning. The sad irony is what happens if you end up in the same situation would you want people to let you go or would you have them keep you alive indefinitely where you have no control over anything?
PogueMoran 3 years ago 2
Pogue, I commend you for having so much patience with this- you're right in every respect. And no, that's not sarcasm.
fadedhorizon 3 years ago
I've changed my mind. I now think it is a good thing to rid the world of all this human debris. Abortion, euthanasia, wars and the elimination of the parasite classes will be so wonderful. As you can see, I've matured. It feels so good to have left my childish notions that were so naive. In terms of Terri's mother? Why, her pain is something that was so cool, wasn't it? Don't we feel powerful knowing we caused another human being to feel the ultimate pain---the pain of a child's death?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Now you're just childish. Maybe its time to check yourself into a psychiatric facility for a long break. You seem to have this uncanny ability to compare apples to watermelons. Her mother had no rights to her that is something that happens when you get married. Terri was gone the night she collapsed but instead of doing the right thing the parents kept her alive for years upon years. They still haven't gotten through the grieving process because they're still in denial.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
For 15 years though????? I'm sorry but she has no chance of coming back!!! It may sound selfish but I believe these people had no rational thought in this situation at all though, religion should never have been involved in this topic at all because of course its not relevant. Did feeding tubes exists in the time of Jesus? Of course not so end of story.
FSM2786 3 years ago
End of story for you. Not the end of the story for Terri's mother, who you have condemned to a life of misery. For there is no greater pain than that of seeing your child die. Are you proud that you, in part, were an elemment of causing Terri's mother so much grief? Does that make you feel powerful and Godlike? Does it give you the megalomaniac's high?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
I haven't condemned her to a life of misery. She did it herself because she doesn't move on like normal people would. I had a loved one in a similar situation and eventually you learn to accept how things are. God took Terri away not man. Instead of doing something constructive like moving on the family has decided instead to milk Terri's name for money. I have no part in causing Terri's mother grief. It is all on herself. Instead of accepting how things are they stay in denial
PogueMoran 3 years ago
You and those of your ilk are depraved beyond belief. Terri only needed nutrition. She was not on any life support mechanism. Still, I ask: why was it any skin off your ass if she lived? This is what infuriates me: her living caused nobody any pain. Her death did---and still does. What is your interest? Are you just on some kind of ego trip that likes to pick on the most vulnerable in our society?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Enough of your ridiculous ad-hominem attacks. Terri needed more than nourishment, she needed a new brain. Her body was deteriorating because anoxic brain damage is progressive and she would have only gotten worse and worse. You're being stupid over and over again. If you ever had a loved one in a similar situation you would understand as I do. It's not our choice its the person who is in that condition. If they didn't want to stay then there's nothing man could do to stop that.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
Usually I am against attacking somebody personally. However, I find you to be obnoxious and selfish beyond belief. The life she was living made her mother happy. While her mental faculties didn't live up to your requirements, I think the point I'm trying to make is that I don't give a damn about your requirments. Your philosophy means less than nothing to me. You are sick, you are absurd. Her life, as it was, had meaning---possibly more than yours will ever have.
hoggdawn 3 years ago
You're the only one being obnoxious and selfish here. This once again had nothing to do with her mother. Her mother stated in court she didn't care what her daughter wanted she would have amputated limbs and done open heart surgery just to keep her alive. Now thats whats sick. This wasn't her decision this was her daughter. She wasn't some pet to keep around and play with she was a human being.
PogueMoran 3 years ago

PogueMoran 3 years ago
I like Lieberman but I disagree with him. She was not naturally living, she was kept alive by a machine for what, 15 YEARS!!!!!!!! Wow thats something I would never want, I'd want to live a natural life as God intended not be hooked up to some feeding tube. I think the religous right is retarded when they think that this murder and playing God when keeping the tube in was playing god you idiots!!!!!! Of course I would write a will saying that would be my wishes.
FSM2786 3 years ago
Oh, oh, lets go through the hospitals and kill all the sick people who don't live up to your standards of what a happy life could be! Then we'd all be happy! What a wonderful world it would be! Those nasty feeding tubes! Christopher Reeves had one---we should have killed him, too! What a good example he could have set!
hoggdawn 3 years ago
My god you're getting more ridiculous and childish by the second. This isn't about what you want it is about what people in those situations want. Again Christopher Reeves had the ability to swallow, think, and was self-sentient. Her brain was almost completely gone she would never have been able to even swallow again much less actually communicate with people. You're the only one recommending we kill people here crazy person.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
Please read my new comments. I've matured, and now have embraced the pro-death cult of America. In terms of Christopher Reeves? I'm sorry, but his life didn't meet my expectations of happiness; hence, he should have been starved to death.

The hospitals are full of this human debris. Lets kill 'em all! Think of the money we could save! We can invest that money in extending the Arian race! Hitler would be so proud of people like you!
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Once again you go from zero to godwin in half a second. Do you even realize how crazy you sound even with your other accounts? No one is advocating what you're advocating in your comments. What happened was medical treatment was withheld as in accordance with what she wanted. She told witnesses before her collapse she wouldn't want to live in that condition. The fact is medicare would only pay so much and wouldn't pay for futile rehab.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
What is your interest in seeing that this woman died? You are sick, dude. And excuse me if I accidentally used someone else's account. Her life made her mother happy. I suspect that is more than you can say for yourself.
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Hahaha excuse you for "accidentally" using someone else's account. You posed as someone else and was too stupid to sign out and into your name. I had no interest in seeing this woman died the fact remains she told people she didn't want to live like this. This was never about her mother, her husband, her siblings but about her and what she wanted. Are you saying that what a grown adult wants doesn't matter if their parents want to override it.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
PogueMoran, what is your interest in this case? Why are you so adamantly pro-death? Why was it any skin off your ass to have Terri live? For me, it was all about her Mother. Do you have any kids? Anyone you love? Or perhaps, more appropriately, does anyone love you? Are you jealous because nobody would possibly come to your aid, since you are so obviously self centered and conceited?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
You should do stand up Hogg. Seriously all you have to do is talk and people would laugh at you. You're the one making this about me I'm making it about Terri. In the end this had nothing to do with the mother, father, husband, or you for that matter. It had to do with her. She told people she didn't want to live like that and so the court determined in accordance with her wishes. Now are you so selfish that if one of your kids made a choice to have medical treatment withheld youd ignoreit
PogueMoran 3 years ago
If your kids were in a similar situation and told you ahead of time that they wouldn't want to live like this and they were adults at the time, would you respect their wishes or totally ignore them?

If Terri's mother wanted her alive, that should have been the end of it. The government enforced her death. The fascist cops in Pinelas Park wouldn't let ANYONE in to give her so much as a drink of water. The arrogance of this country is off the scale. Millions of abortions. Wars around the globe. Polluting the envirnonment. Consumerism as the ultimate religion. America? Your best days are gone. Go away now.
hoggdawn 4 years ago
she cant drink thats why she has a feeding tube her throat doesn't work and people all over die like this and its not made public. People don't really care they just want to make a big deal out of this to get rid of their guilt.
aspicymeatball 4 years ago
And what guilt would you be talking about? I can see that the people who killed Terri would feel guilty---why would the people who wanted to save her? Explain, please.
heartyfeast 4 years ago
No one killed Terry but the almighty he let her die. Nature took its course as she had stated she never wanted to live in that condition. Are you really against people having free will? I'm sure Terri's parents should feel guilt for stringing along saps like you for many years when they knew in their hearts she was already gone. Sure doesn't stop them from still collecting money from saps like you while not having to work a real job.
PogueMoran 4 years ago
They feel guilty cause they never cared about this before. Do you know how many people suffer from this same problem every year? They should feel guilty for just doing this cause everyone else is. They are treating her like a pet project. How many people even gave her a second thought after she had died? They think that if they make a big deal out her circumstance it will make for all the times they didn't care. That is their guilt
aspicymeatball 3 years ago
Who says they never cared about this kind of thing before? How would you know? The people I was protesting with there in Pinelas Park were involved in a wide array of social projects. Poverty, racial injustice, abortion---where were you? We have NOTHING to feel guilty about---the people who killed Terri have PLENTY to feel guilty about. You are so misinformed it is pathetic. Crawl back beneath your rock and pretend the world is perfect.
hoggdawn 3 years ago
They didn't Robert Schindler removed his own parents off life support and didn't think twice about it. I don't see them lining hospitals or hospitals all over the US as feeding tubes are removed by legal guardians. The people you protested with were far outnumbered by the media. The media blew the protests out of proportion to make it look like this was some big thing when it wasn't. People like you and Gordon Wayne Watts are short on facts and only go so far with their "morals"
PogueMoran 3 years ago
How many times does it take before you realize that TERRI'S MOM--HER MOTHER---WANTED HER ALIVE! And you would deny a mother her child? You are sick! If Karma exists you are in for a few really, really nasty lives, pal.
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Her mother had no say in it Hogg. She lost her rights when Terri got married and chose her own name. You're the one who is sick. You think parents should own their children forever. Its more than obvious there's a reason Terri's immediate family didn't know too much about her personal life. Terri's family wanted to keep terri alive at all costs for their own selfishness. This is why they'll never get over the grieving process they're so in denial i pity them and people like you who enable.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
Oh, you are so right. The criminal in this is Terri's mother who was so immature she just couldn't grow up and transcend those horrific maternal instincts. Thank God the state---and people like you---killed her. Maybe the ultimate good in this is that Terri's mom will mature, be less naive, and learn the hard but salutary lesson that the State is the ultimate God.
hoggdawn 3 years ago

You should be careful before you tell people that they are misinformed. You haven't gotten a single fact about this case right. So tell me how many other hospitals have you gone to before the Schiavo case where you protested the removal of a feeding tube? This sort of thing happens all over the country everyday. It was an event sensationalized by the media and blown out of proportion by the Schindler family who at this point I truly pity. They will never get through the grieving process.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
I don't understand your motivation. Terri's mother---HER MOTHER---wanted her to live. Yes, people might have their feeding tubes pulled. But when their MOTHERS are standing there wanting to spare their lives? And don't tell me I'm not involved. I volunteer at a hospital at least once a week where I help care for a beautiful young lady who is severly brain damaged. Don't dare tell me I'm not involved. You know nothing of me or what I do or how my heart goes out to those you'd kill.
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Her parents had no right in the process. They lost that right when she got married. Obviously she didn't trust her parents enough to include them in her life. They didn't know she was non-practicing, they didn't know her wishes. You're not involved. If you were you would be going to hospitals stopping the removal of feeding tubes for everyone out there. Her mother once accepted the PVS diagnosis and went along with the idea of her having an eating disorder until the father took over.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
Not to engage in ad hominum attacks, but you are patently inhuman. I hope and pray that people of your ilk are few and far between. Tell me: do you think it is a better world now that Terri has been killed? Does it make you personally happier? Do you wax sanguine at the thought of a devastated mother? It scares me that there could be heartless people like you in positions of authority. The world is growing colder every day. But not for long.
hoggdawn 3 years ago
There's nothing ad hominen about it you used two different user accounts to try to back up your argument. There's nothing inhuman about where I stand as I know through the schindlers lost sympathy when they went into denial and will never go through the grieving process. Terri was not killed medical treatment was withheld in accordance with her wishes. There's nothing heartless about my position if you've ever had someone close to you in an end of life decision you'd understand.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
Its so easier for you to sit on the sidelines and try to determine what you think is moral and decide for other people what they should do. The fact is God took terri 15 years ago and man kept her alive and God took her again 15 years later
PogueMoran 3 years ago
You say "medical treatment was withheld"? What kind of disingenuous doublespeak is that? They wouldn't even let her Mom give her a sip of water! Now, I guess in your world that would be really advanced medical treatment, huh? Can't you differentiate between simple food and water and advanced life-support machines? ARe you medically ignorant? If not, you sure sound like it.
hoggdawn 3 years ago
There's nothing disinegenuous about that. Medical Treatment was withheld. She couldn't given her a sip of water because she would have choked on it and died. Are you an idiot? She failed multiple swallow tests she couldn't swallow water. This would be the equivelent of if I poured water into your mouth while you were sleeping. You would choke on it or aspirate into your lungs and catch pnemonia. Would you rather they have done that? In reality a feeding tube is advanced treatment.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
I would have rather anything be done rather than the slow dehydration and starvation that was imposed by the state. If she had died as her mother was trying to save her, so it was meant to be. But let us digress to what we agree upon: the need to lessen the earth-threatening, horrific nature of maternal love and care. That was at the bottom of all this---the irrational need for a mother to care for her child. Thats what really bugs you, isn't it? So anti-scientific. Horrors!
hoggdawn 3 years ago
Oh so you're saying her mother possibly giving her pnemonia would be better than her having medical treatment withheld? Are you kidding? If she still had any capacity for pain pnemonia would have been long and drawn out and hurt more if she could actually feel it. You're assuming someone in the state of her mind would feel dehydration the same as those who are in perfect health. Cancer patients would often withhold their own nutrition and die peacefully.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
Yeah, baby, you heard me correctly. Better to die at the hand of somebody trying to help than to die at the behest of a fascist state that only sees people in economic terms. Oh, don't you love the way the world has grown more and more wonderful since Terri died? When she died, I thought, "the hand of God's judgement will fall on this nation in a way that will not be misunderstood!". How wrong I was! Since Terri's death, everything is coming up roses! Aren't we happy? Huh? Huh?
hoggdawn 3 years ago
There's nothing fascist about it you dumb bird. So you think its better to have someone actively kill you by a means slow and painful like pnemonia than to let nature take its course? See its crazy people like you who think 9/11 was our own damned fault and God's punishment. Come back when you get a brain transplant
PogueMoran 3 years ago
If your god wanted her to live, she would have survived without medicine intervening. Funny how you call him moron, when you can't even see how moronic you come off.
fadedhorizon 3 years ago
Once again this had nothing to do with how her mother felt. Her mother had nothing to do with this, this was about Terri. Her mother didn't care what her wishes were and what she was doing was not realistic. Its the equivalent of people who get their dog's stuffed after they die. It does not help the grieving process. Everyone has to learn when to let go. What bugs me is your penchant for all things irrational
PogueMoran 3 years ago
Oh, you play the irrational card again! Let me bow down in humble acquiesence to your wisdom! Lets see--other people had a problem with sentimental irrationality---oh, say, Hitler, Mao, Stalin, the Pathet Lao, etc. Then you have that irrational guy--what was his name---Jesus? Preached about love? Man, what a looser, huh? The things you could have taught him! But like I said: we need to pool our ideas against maternal love! Such an affront to your rationality!
hoggdawn 3 years ago
You're the one being irrational here. Wow you just pulled out the Godwin card again. You know the first person to always bring up hitler is the one who loses the argument. Hitler thought he was actually doing God's work. So much for your philosophy. Yeah in Jesus' time when she wasn't breathing for 15 minutes she would have died. She wouldn't have had feeding tubes or had her heart shocked back into beating. Maternal love had nothing to do with this. It was more about making mom happy
PogueMoran 3 years ago
You say "her mother had nothing to do with this"? Of course. I mean, what is a mother, right? Mothers of the world, be damned! Why would any mother want to have a say in the life of their offspring? This is the territory of the fascist State, and the all-powerful Husband, who has a de-facto second wife and family! Down with sentimental maternal bonds! Down with motherhood! Up with whoever you are and your wisdom and God-like pronouncements!
hoggdawn 3 years ago
No her mother had nothing to do with this whatsoever. This was about Terri and Terri only. A mother has no right over her offspring when they get married. Terri made a choice to leave her family. This had nothing to do with maternal love or bonds. It had to do with the family saying they did not give a shit about her wishes and would have ignored her and did what they wanted to do anyway because it made them happy. They were selfish and they continue to show it.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
All of your so-called arguments are just filled with sarcasm and holes. Usually I enjoy controversial discussions, but you're just annoying. You rely on straw man fallacies and the smoke screen of maternity. Open your eyes and try to see where other people are coming from for christ's sake.
fadedhorizon 3 years ago
You're the only one showing they're "medically ignorant" here as you can't tell the difference between "simple food and water" and a medical device. The feeding tube she had went through her stomach and only provided nutrients it did not stop hunger pains a normal person would have. In the state of Florida a feeding tube is considered life support. Its in Florida state law. So apparently you're the one showing themselves to be medically ignorant.
PogueMoran 3 years ago
If the world were perfect, Terri wouldn't have felt the need to change her self image and become bulimic resulting in a potassium deficiency that cause her heart to fail, thus resulting in her vegetative state. She was already dead, no one killed her. She would never have been the same Terri that her parents knew. People try to insert idealism and are not rational. Besides her husband, by law was her next of kin. We should never change laws based on one person.
aspicymeatball 3 years ago
Terri's mother had no legal right to her. If the police did let someone in to give her water they would have killed her you. Where do you people get off thinking you know more than the doctors her examined her. She failed multiple swallow tests and during the autopsy they found proof she was aspirating into her lungs. You can't pour water into a person's mouth that can't swallow by themselves you would cause them to aspirate and catch pneumonia.
