  • While I love Barry Sanders, Dominique Wilkins nickname should be used for him alone. Why don't you name rename the video AIR Sanders, Barry "Sweetness" Sanders... or Barry "The Refrigerator" Sanders for that matter? Song blows too. But goddamn, Barry was awesome.

  • 2:32 The quarter back raised his hands because he knew what was coming

  • why does everyone with a barry sanders video have to add shit to it/? makes shit hard to watch? why not just let the artistry speak for itself in its raw form....this guy is the greatest to ever touch a football but the video maker makes hard to watch...sad sad to see!

  • You go into Barry's house... u dont see deer heads and bear heads on the walls. You see all the Ankles of his victims

  • In my opinion, a running back can't lack anything. Both Payton and Brown had speed, agility, and power. Barry only had speed and agility. So he never could really break a tackle once a defender grabbed him, he tended not to face them. Instead of just lowering the shoulder and taking 2 yards, he spun around and tried to make something amazing happen, hence the negative yards.

  • Not to take anything away from Barry, as he is (in my opinion, not saying it's a fact) the 3rd best running back of all-time, behind Walter Payton and Jim Brown. Many people forget Jim Brown didn't have a supporting cast, either. Yet he still won championships, even though he was the only good player on that team, offense or defense. Walter was incredible, too.

  • Name me any back in the history of the NFL that did what Barry did with

    1. No fullback

    2. No tight end

    3. Poor O line (they went through QBs like water)

    4. Terrible team

    5. Never had a full time QB like Aikman, Farve, Montana, Elway etc.

    Lets hear it?

There are plenty of backs that were made by a good O line but Barry is the opposite.

  • Sanders was great and EXTREMELY agile.

The only back I would take over him is Walter Peyton. Sanders would make you look like a fool trying to tackle him with his amazing moves BUT WALTER PEYTON WOULD MAKE YOU PAY FOR TRYING TO TACKLE HIM!

  • Barry was the perfect hback.

He got low when he needed to

    he hit the crease narrow

He reversed the field at an opportune time

    He outran DB's

He made the first guy miss

He ran hard all the time

  • @stainlesssteelrat100, I would agree with a lot you mention; but he did take a lot of risks. He's the kinda RB that could turn 1st and 10 into 2nd and 25. He does also hold a record for most carries for negative yardage (wikipedia). Most coaches wouldn't see that as 'perfection'. Consistent runners like Walter Peyton are a whole lot easier to form a game plan around. It is undeniable though that he's was probably one of the most, if not the most exciting player to watch.

  • @stainlesssteelrat100 U forgot him making the second third sometimes fourth guy miss while reversing field.

  • "When I..uh...when I..I grow up I wanna run just like him." Bo Jackson

  • the fact that he is top ten record rushing career combined with the most negative yrd rushes (oh yeah but still 5.0 ypc-sick) goes to show you that he is no doubt one the best ever----oh did i mention he was 5'10"?

  • @bigdolla69 5'8," not 5'10".

  • @bigdolla69 no fucking doubt.

  • can ya imagine the records sanders might of set if the lions had a decent offense!!

  • Rodney Pete would just hand the ball off, sit back and watch the show... best seat in the house...

    Barry Sanders is the man

  • The original incarnation of laheisman.

  • Barry Sanders hands down is THE best running back ever to grace an NFL field. undeniably, there are other greats such as OJ, Jim Brown, Walter Payton, and even the all time NFL rush leader, Emmit Smith. but i've never seen anyone with no line, no QB, 8 or 9 men in a box and STILL put up numbers like him. not just the numbers, but the moves, the strength, agility, vision, ability to cut on a dime, the Michael Jordan of running backs by far!

  • @jawn07 hands down

  • @jawn07 now im a die hard cowboys fan but i endorse this statement lol

  • @jawn07 Payton was better. Payton blocked, catched, throwed, returned, kicked fgs, punted. Barry sanders had 1114 negative yards you couldnt give him the ball on 3rd and 4th downs. Payton never missed one game his whole career( his trainner forced him to miss one his 2nd year of the nfl, payton wanted to play). Payton had better class then barry, Payton had more of a horrible o-line then barry. Payton was a backup fg,qb pr,kr,wr. Payton never played with a pro bowl qb te or wr his whole career

  • @itsmybunny1 Barry Sanders could pass block and catch with the best of them. They almost played in 2 different eras. Had Barry played in the late 70's and early to mid 80's he may have done more things as well, like returning kicks/punts. But I do believe Payton may have been the better, more versatile overall FOOTBALL PLAYER. Barry Sanders was a better running back though, the best that ever lived. Once Barry got a fullback, late in his career, he stopped having negative running yards.

  • did he really say barry sanders was overrated this guy is a complete fuken idiot fuken dunb ass tats like saying rocky marciano was wack...

  • Didn't want to change the video because of the awesome music :D

  • The only thing his offensive line did for him was get in his way......

  • barry sanders was so good, he retired in his prime becasue no one could keep up

  • Imagine ! . . . Making money off of other peoples misfortunes ! . . . . The FUCK outta here Sal ! . . .

  • He is black !!!

  • WTF!!! Sal Paolantonio I got two words for you, "Kill Yourself!!"

  • @leaveyomindbabblin - Search YouTube for Rod Woodson Barry Sanders. There's a video that shows Barry jukin Woodson and Woodson laying hurt holding his knee.

  • im a die-hard Steelers fan & I'm convinced Super Bowl XXX could have been different if we had a 100% healthy Rod Woodson. For those who don't know what happened to Hot Rod, Barry Sanders put such a juke move on him that he tore his ACL in the first game of the 95 season. Not many players can say they took out the best all around CB in NFL history(Deion couldn't tackle my mother) ... and without even making contact! Barry wuz Nasty!

  • @stepdaddy82 No way you're joking, where can I find that video. one time in basketball my friend Thomas rolled some kids ankles just by crossing him and the kid cried it was funny.

  • greatest RB ever

  • Has Sal watched football?

  • If he had the line that Emmit had he would have ran for 3000 yards....

  • Sal Paolantonio still has a job after saying Sanders is overrated? Why don't you ask Woodson's leg...I do believe it broke just because Barry's moves are that impressive just by the sight of them.

  • Stats record Barry's first encounter with the defense was 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage - Emmet Smiths first encounter was 5 yards past the line of scrimmage. I wonder if Barry had the line Emmet did would there be a difference or was the situation Barry was handed exactly what he needed to be so great??

  • @FLINTER47 great great point

  • Greatest of all time...

  • John Lynch got embarrassed

  • Sanders is still ONE of the greatest ever along with Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton, Marshall Faulk, and Jim Brown. I hope that people will be talking about Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson, and maybe even LT the same way someday, even though these new guys just don't do it like the greats. Just look at Reggie Bust! Oops...Bush.

  • comparing emmet smith to barry sanders? what? emmet wasnt even good he was in my opinion the most over rated back he played on a team with hall of fame receivers and qb's the pressure wasnt on him at all like it was for barry. and who the heck is sal paolantonio anyway? lol

  • @healthyandyoung Emmitt over rated? Name a back who was as affective as long as Emmitt? Who has more 1,000+ seasons? Who has more rushing TDs? What RB was a better passblocker than Smith? Who averaged more carries a season over their careers? Who averaged fewer fumbles per carries? How many RBs last 15 seasons, and start every game of that last season for 900+ yards and 9 rushing TDs? Barry simply lacked the power, strength, heart, sportsmanship, work ethic, & basic intelligence that Emmitt had!

  • @JoseATurner emmit was decent during his prime but the last 5 years with the cowboys he sucked so bad that they traded him to the cardinals then he sucked there for a few years and became a back up to some guy named ship... yeah thats pretty bad. yeah he was good while dallas was a force its easy to have a good running game when you have a dominant passing game because the defense is expecting a pass. but once the weapons went away he sucked

  • @healthyandyoung Don't talk about shit you don't have a clue about, dumbass! If you knew your history, you'd know that. Emmitt was never traded. He was released after 13 seasons (he was already the ALL-TIME leader by then). His last season in Dallas was still over 900+ yards. And Dallas was never known for their "dominant passing game" as you put it. Danny White passed for more yards a season than Aikman. Emmitt averaged more carries a game than passing attempts by the team.

  • @healthyandyoung And Emmitt's last season in Arizona, Ship was HIS back-up, even though he was 11 YEARS OLDER! Smith once again racked up 900+ yards, in his 15th season! And even if you weren't totaly wrong and embarrasing your self with your info, Aikman retired in 2000 (Smith's 10th year), and Emmitt broke 1,000 yards three more times, and 900+ plus. You just don't know how fucking stupid you sound! LOL

  • @JoseATurner dont get your panties all up in a bunch. emmitt was good i just dont think he was the best of all time 900 yards isnt really good and every team pretty much has more rushing attempts then passing attempts it doesnt mean they dont have a good passing game

  • @JoseATurner Barry never averaged less than 4.3 yards per carry in a season... Emmitt only averaged over 4.3 yards TWICE in a season... but emmitt is better? hmm, maybe if emmitt didn't have over 1300 more carries than barry, he wouldn't even be in the equation, even going by emmitt's paultry yds/carry 1300 carries = 5400+ yards... yet emmitt played 4 more seasons and only 3000 more yards (i'm not counting the season he got 200 yds in 5 games to give emmitt a chance though i did count the yards)

  • @JoseATurner also barry had fewer fumbles than emmitt, which i know you'll say well he carried the ball more... again, to make it competitive, I didn't count the fumbles in the non-1000yd seasons but did count the carries and the fumbles/carry ratio is still higher for emmitt... 22/4409 vs 13/3062, barry also had more receiving yds/ G... this is just statistics, not even comparing the difference in the teams... like having 2 fellow HOF, troy aikman and michael irvin; and barry having none

  • @JoseATurner or maybe barry just played for a team that showed no signs of being a winner... being in an organization thats not trying to win will drain your competitive spirit... Dallas had at least two, most of the time three, Pro Bowl offensive linemen EVERY yr smith went over 1000 yards. Barry had one, maybe two at one point, Barry also never had less than 1000 yards in a season, he averaged almost an entire yard per carry more than emmitt over their careers: 4.2 vs 5.0...

  • @gagnondp: barry was great, but there are other backs like walter payton who didn't have much to work with. watch some early bears films where walter got the ball on 45 out of 60 offensive play calls, game in and game out. walter and barry have different running styles but if you say barry is better than walter you will have an argument on your hands!

  • he's a genius Lion's got lucky with him! :P or did he pick them? ^^

  • my ankle just broke watching this, lol. Berry's the best!

  • HALL of FAME,overrated???? HELL nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

  • If the Packers had drafted him, wow, maybe 5 super bowls???

Imagine Brett Favre plus Barry Sanders...

  • Barry had more talent in his toenail than Sal Paolantonio could ever dream of having.

  • If Miami would have picked him up Dan's last two years, Super Bowls back to back.

  • If this guy played with Dallas' early 90's offensive line? omg

  • yeh 2500 maybee 3000 yards, emmit smith ran good, bit add moves and speed he could have set records that would have never been touched

  • This guy sucked, he was no Emmitt Smith. If he was, you would've won a championship.

  • @drjuancarlosvega2 You're an idiot.

  • @drjuancarlosvega2 this has to be one of the dumbest things I ever heard.

  • I say Barry is the 3rd greatest running back of all time. I actually made a video on my top 5. Check it out on my channel

  • He's the only thing Lions fans have had to cheer about in 50 years!

  • barry is best he played of lions comon guys think if he emmits line lol omg hes a freak fuckin lions froed greatest to quit and he the most humble player i ever seen no chad dances no dallas star no bs he led by example no back can do what he did with the team hes with peterson lmao get real he fast but barry wasnt the fastest or strongest he just knew how to mak u miss lions had one goo=d season and they had no d fence so they lost chap game barry greatest all time period

  • u ever tried to catch a chicken?

  • @tonymontana0426 haha, i saw a documentary on barry sanders and the defensive coaches they interviewed said they had there d-line and linebackers try to catch chickens as means of preparation for a game against the lions.

  • If barry wouldn't of lost so much yardage he would of broke walter payton's record his 8th year. with that said he's the best ever

  • @RDezicle 5.0 yards per carry says otherwise, even with those negative yards. You know who else got over 5.0 ypc? Jim Brown. In less years and against lesser defenses.

  • @Crusaderomni bo jackson. oakland raiders 6.8 yards a carry

  • number 1 no doubt

  • he's got to be the most explosive running back ever...his runs were true works of art...

  • barry was the best.

  • 5 yards a carry...my bad lol lol

  • barry is the best for all you guys that dont think so.....he averages over 5 years a carry even with the awful line he had blocking for him...he did the most with the fewest carries...if had carried the ball as much as emmitt or any other running back, no one would even be close to him stat wise....look it up...and Marshall Fault is the second best. he redefined the role of being a running back.

  • HALT! The truth is Barry average 4.9 yards per carry. Brown averaged 5.2. Nearly six a carry. In his best year on 291 carries he averaged 6.4! Don't forget 105 yards per game. I was thrilled by Barry because he made me forget Payton and Brown. But now coming back to earth I realize Walter and Jim Brown were better in thier primes.

  • Nearly 5 a carry*

  • Them 2 had far better teams...Keep that in mind.

  • I want to say Brown was not the best too. But then I look at his highlights and it is obvious no one was even close to him during his time. Two things stood out. He was 230 pounds. Huge even for todays runners. 2nd his vision. Look at his runs and you can see he was aware of everyone on the field. I believe if Brown actually worked out with weights and on the track he would have killed someone trying to tackle him. today with the OL and the training Brown would ave 10 yds a carry.

  • @newtcummer1 No chance at 10 yards per carry but i get the point. With proper training, he'd be much bigger and as fast as peterson just with better moves and everyone knows he's the toughest rb to ever live.

  • barry sanders was embarrassing defensive players that are starting in the league now and are still good players, look at lynchs ankles i dont know how he still plays, but he does and hes good... if u think barry sanders isnt the greatest u smoke crack, and NO ONE has a better highlight reel... and he also retired earlier because the lions refused to trade him and he was sick of the lions offensive line

  • who the fuck is sal? and y do u care what he says?... barry sanders is the greatest runningback of all time.. soon adrian peterson will be knocking at the door

  • barry sanders is a great player his the most elusive runningback of all time but not the greatest the greatest is Jim brown

  • @sickflowdojo1986

The only door "Fumbles All Day" is knocking at is the fumbles record.

  • Sanders is number 2 next to Brown.

  • come on man? really? how is that the case?

  • jim brown averaged over 100 yrds a game(only running back to do so & the only back to average over 5 yrds a carry) look at browns numbers for (12 game seasons they had)

  • barry also averaged 5 yds a carry, maybe not a 100 per game, but more than brown did, so? and the fact that he played more games per season and held great stats is testament to his durability, barry is the better back, its proven! after watching 5-6 games, you'd get bored of brown, barry never gave you a break, every game was exciting, he was also alot smaller than brown, and brown couldnt catch the ball, barry has the stats to prove he could do that also!

  • He was awsome to watch here at OSU where he played college. We had a good team with Barry Sanders, Hart Lee Dykes, and Mike Gundy. I was disappointed when Barry won the Heisman and said he would be back for his senior year, but instead went pro. I can't blame him though. Look what has happened to Sam Bradford who returned after winning the Heisman at OU. By Barry going pro, it also dashed any hope of Mike Gundy making good on his comment, "Before I leave OSU, we are going to beat OU." .

  • The most incredible game breaking phenomenon to ever step on the field. Did you see what he did to Lynch? Almost unbelievable if not for the video proof.

  • notice how at 2:39 the QB holds up his hands as a touchdown sign b4 it happens, BARR SANDERS WAS AWESEM. GO LIONS

  • The best ever. The only shining spot on a horrible team. His change of direction and acceleration were off the charts. I love that move on TB Lynch. That's an all pro safety with an open shot and he barely got a hand on Barry. Yowza.

  • if anything, he was underrated. Imagine if he had played on a team with a better line or a decent quarterback where the opposing defense actually would have had to worry about the passing game.

  • @jsnody317 Really? Check the stat books to see how many ProBowl, 4000+ yard seasons his QBs had. And while you're at it, check and see how many ProBowl offensive lineman he had. Look up how many catches Herman Moore had - especially 100+ catch seasons WITH another WR also with 1,000+ seasons. The Lions had LOADS of talent and had plenty of winning seasons with Barry. He was AMAZING, but his numbers wouldn't have been any better with Dallas, San Fran, Buffalo, etc.

  • @JoseATurner Why don't you name off some of the great lions that played with Barry?...

  • @jsnody317 Sanders was great because of his agility and speed. When those two were fadding, there was no reason for him to embarrase himself like LT, Eddie George, and so many others that play past their primes. Sanders was just smart enough to leave when he was done being good enough. His last season, his yardage dropped 600+ yards from the previous, as his average per carry was 1.6 lower. He wasn't a guy like Emmitt who could carry the load, block, break tackles, and hold on to the football.

  • @jsnody317 he would probably would of got the same amount of yardage, just less people to juke. lol

  • he is the best!!

  • Didn't Sal's book also have "Underrated" in the title as well? Why the immediate hate?

  • it sucks that Barry Sanders WAS the offense of the lions at the time, if he was in a different team who could actually block he would of done so much better...

  • The lions offense wasn't that bad.. especially in 95 I think Mitchell threw for 5k+ yards and Herman Moore led the NFL in receptions and set a record. It was just the O line never opened holes for Barry he had to do it himself lol

  • it was the defense in those years, at one point detroit had 3 recievers in the top ten, so,? they just couldnt stop the pass.

  • Did you even read what I was replying to? Somone said the Lions offense was terrible and Barry was the only weapon. I simply stated that he always had a decent offense around him while he still put up big numbers. So I don't know what you are replying about..

  • it was not anything negative man, i was backing ur statement!

  • Oh lol sorry sometimes youtubes comment section confuses me. Well anyway at least its nice to have these clips to relive some former glory we had... because now it is just shameful :/

  • @ethuja Only 2 players ever thrown for 5k yards. Drew Brees and Dan Marino. Mitchell had 4300. However the OL did still suck for Mitchell with over 30 sacks.

  • song

  • HAHA at 2:35 the qb puts signals for the touchdown & Barry is still in the backfield lol

  • You caught that too eh? Funny shit

  • Barry Sanders takes a shit on every other running back in the history of the game. You have to remember he put up those stats while playing for the worst team in the league...

  • the lions werent the worst back then they went to the playoffs 3 times

  • 1 playoff win in 53 years in bad

  • @gagnondp Not true, the Lions were not the worst team in the league when Barry was playing. They won 78 of his 160 regular season games and were above .500 five times. They even went to the NFC championship game in '91. The Bears were 71 and 71 in Payton's first ten years with only three winning seasons. Barry indeed may be the greatest of all time. Who knows? But he is not the only great player to have played on a weak team and certainly was not on anywhere near the worst team during his caree

  • @powerbychevy What's funny there's a shithead trolling one of the other youtube vids on Barry, claiming Barry is the worst RB in history and that is nowhere near the quality RB as Emmit. IMO its really hard to tell who was better since they were both on different teams and had different running styles. But you're statements are accurate.

  • @powerbychevy I do say the Lions were ever worse without him since the day he left the league.

  • and no full back leading the way

  • @gagnondp you are delusional, backs like payton and dickerson are right up there and arguably better than barry was. barry was the most "elusive and nimble," back ever but the best? hardly!

  • @gagnondp That was Gods way of having mercy on the rest of the NFL.

  • @gagnondp and he retired when he was 30

  • what linemen??

  • I love every single comment on this page....Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Earl Campbell (yet not as graceful) are my favorites of all time...Suck one Sal!! I had no idea he was a Meth Head.

  • Sal Paolantonio is the biggest idiot ever born. He had to say that stuff just to make a splash. If he believes it, he should never be trusted to write a birthday card let alone a sports column.

  • Fav. Part is when he had that dude spin in a complete circle 2:20

  • There ar only 3 great slash backs in NFL history and Sal sorry to say you are wrong as always they are Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, and Tony Dorsett

  • Dont forget O.J. Watch some of his highlights.

  • how in the feezzy is barry sanders overrated. Never had a real team. Rarely had to offensive linemen that could block. Undeniably the best running back and he had less to work with compared to every top Ten running back in nfl history.

  • omg

  • Sal Paolantonio is an idiot. Look at Barry's stats through 10 seasons in the NFL. No one even compares to him. He ran with such style and grace. The funny thing he was only 5'8'' but damn did he break a lot of ankles. He has and always will be my favorite player.

  • whoever sold ankle tape probably made a ton of money of Barry Sanders.

  • Yep, Barry Was the best and always will be.

  • how the hell is barry overrated i bet any one who calls him overrated is just jealous of how he was the best running back in NFL HISTORY! so suck on that u barry hatin bitchez!

  • there is no way in hell Barry Sanders is overated, he was simply the best running back ever and was tired of carrying a sucky team on his back,

  • what song is this?

  • Comment removed

  • Mud football by Jack Johnson

  • He was the best there ever was and everyone knows it.

  • Agreed.

  • get some real music for this video ..guitar music for the gridiron...nice...wtf..i think barry deserves better.

  • i love at 2:34 the quarterback is already calling sanders getting a touchdown even though hes at the 25 yard line still. barry is a demigod.

  • if you call barry overrated then you must be an idiot

  • Barry Sanders doesn't listen to Jack Johnson

  • Who said hes ovverated if anything that sorry fuck emmitt smith is overrated give him the lions offensive line when barry was playing and see how shitty he does you would have never heard of his ass, and give barry his line and i guarantee you see a repeat of barrys college years where he was unmatched and his records in college still stand.

  • I hate that he retired so early when I feel he had alot of greatness left but atleast I got to see him play

  • does anyone have the game where he causes HOF DB ROD WOODSON to break his leg?????

  • The MJ of Rbs..and da book said both underrated and overrated..

  • i swear watchin barry sanders highlights is like watchin someone play madden on rookie

  • that is hilarious. i love your quote.

  • Overrated? Try underrated. If he ran behind any other line in his career he'd be the all time leader.

  • if he woulda played one more year instead of retiring after 10 he'd be the leader. and he still had like 15000

  • He could've been the all time leader anyway if he wanted to. Seriously though, if you call Barry overrated, that destroys all your credibility.

  • Sal Paolantonio is cunt. Barry Sanders had to keep trying to get more yards and run around every single play, because the Lions were BAD. They had a few good years with him, but other than that, it was very bad. Nobody could do the things he did.

  • WTF IS UP W/ THE MUZIK!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Thats what I said.

  • Great video, the music was hilarious, Barry Baby, what else can you say.

  • hard to believe but out of the whole video he only broke 12 ankles i didnt count the breaking tackles i just counted the jukes it was only 12

  • yeah, well im sure there were several other players not in the camera view who were in run support that got juked out at the same time the other 12 got juked out....one move froze half the defense

  • yea but im actually counting the real ankle breakers where they fall and stuff there were only 12 of those the rest where just like he froze them and then beat them to the end zone

  • wats wit da comedy central azz music on for the best running back of all time

  • Sanders best runner ever however sweetness the best running back ever. Walter knocker line backers and line man alike on thier asses. Barry would be the first to tell you that blocking wasent a strong point of his,but damn could he run.

  • I like how half of those are against the Bucs. God I fucking hate the fucking Bucs and I live in Tampa Bay. LOL

  • If Barry and Emmit switched spots, right now we'd be saying "Emmit who?", and Sanders would be considered one of the greatest athletes to ever exist from any sport.

  • Barry Sanders is the greatest running back of all times. People who tend to disagree only do so for discussion purposes.

  • Comment removed

  • if barry wulda played as long as emmitt smith he wulda had at least 6000 more yards

  • but part of the game is stayin in in. Emmitt was tougher

  • are you stupid?im sure most running back's dont tell the other team to dive at their knees, ankle's. a running back's career can be ruined in 1 play, ONE PLAY,, trust me i play running backs and there is plenty of moment's when i barley avoid a helmet to the knee that could have pulled my acl, mcl, miniscuss etc... think before you talk

  • That's bs, Barry had a lot of juice left in the tank. He didn't take that many hits, so he could have possibly had the longest career of any RB with as little of hits he took from other teams.

  • Exactly! obviously this guy wasnt watching the video, most of the time Barry was cutting or running in front of defenders his whole career.
