  • The very god times of Rock Metal's...........

  • A true classic!

  • Dawn fuckin' good! I will note one small things..you should try to turn the sound lound to blow speakers off hwen uploading this video! !!!!! LOL!!! Thanks for the masterpiece!

  • This is metal.

  • Im 47. I stopped listening to hard rock/metal years ago. Ive been into rockabilly & roots music. These guys are fucking great!!! This is getting me listening again!!

  • Hey does anyone remember the Ruskin Arms????

  • Fuckin great song!

    I love the chourse

  • after kowin many an angle-whitch just gotta say i love this song. on another note I love youtube I get to see what i've missed over all the years (wasted years)and I can SEE and HEAR all thisstuff , remember, it still holds value to thos who can almost remember. or somthing like that. ya. metal up your ass!!

  • I think is one of AW worst tracks. I first saw this band in it's pre Aw days when they were known as Lucifer. I knew them then because my brother was on drums. When Aw were a 4 piece they were a lot better live. First saw AW in 1978 at the geen man pub.. Then at a gig at a church hall with the church white crucifix as a background. Last saw them in Dec 2008 at Camden Underworld as a 4 piece again and were good although Heybournes vocals aint what they used to be.

  • Is Steve Jones your brother?

FWIW, this is an amazing track & one of the greatest metal anthems of all time although I prefer 'Sorcerers' and 'Angel of Death' off the debut.

  • SabuPtolemy. Yes, Steve is my brother.

  • You're an angel witch, you're an angel witch. You're an angel witch, you're an angel witch.

  • True heavy metal

  • one of the grate lost metal bands of all time ! I bought this album back in 84' . it holds the test of time !

  • Not bad.....not bad at all.

  • Its fun to go into one of those indie record shops and then ask for a band that they have never heard of.

  • what a great band! my kingdom for a time machine!!!

  • how the fuck can he sing while playing a kick-ass guitar solo?!!

  • I have NO idea.

  • He did all the hard parts while he wasn''t singing, so it was a lot easier when he was singing.

  • i remember buying this album when it came out in 1980 i was 14 at the time damn memories i was all into the nwobhm scene i bought mostly all of the nwobhm bands albums i remember going to see these bands i saw iron maiden with paul dianno damn good times too bad my mom threw away all of my albums i had grrr!!!!

  • Now why did she do that!

  • because when i moved out of my parents house i forgot all of it and left them there and she didnt know what to do with them so she sold them and threw all of my concert tickets and all my shirts damn was i pissed at her well atleast i bought some on cd but not all of them there to hard to find!!!!

  • Metal for Muthas?

  • i assume that you can only get used copies on amazon?

  • Does anyone own the full album? Is it worth picking up?

  • yea i have it but what sucks is that when i got the cd the case was all fucked up and broken good thing the cd was ok

  • Yes. I do. Get it. Make sure you get the one with the b-sides bonus tracks. I had no idea they ever made a video. lol. Love this band.

  • YES! I loved them back then and I have done without them for a loooooong time, but NEVER forgot them. (My stinkin' brother bought the only copy I ever saw.) I like Sorcerors, Gorgon, Free Man, Devils Tower-Oh heck it's great...Angel of Death, This one, Atlantis, IT'S GREAT!

  • Dave Mustaine surely is right for this being one of the best metal bands also the most underratd tough

  • My mum went to school with KEVIN RIDDLES

  • amazing band, so underrated

  • what's with the length of them drumsticks??

  • FUCK YES

  • Pitty that such a great band didn't get what they deserved. In their beginning of NWOBHM era they were far more the best than any other musicians at that time, even better that Maiden (which are my favourite band!)

  • Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Angel Witch rules!

  • CLASSIC BAND-CLASSIC SONG

  • this is one of my favourite albums ever!

  • Hell yeah!

  • Angel witch!!

    yeah! ;)

  • man this is spinal tap..class! it dont get better than this as far as 70´s metal is concerned..fantastic

  • I was expecting David St. Hubbins and Nigel Tufnel to show up.

  • heres an example..you can have a great les paul guitar, but if its pink, people are still gonna point that out..so thats what im saying-

    great song WITH CORNY LYRICS

  • This band were voted worst metal band ever after 1 week in the charts at 75.

  • w/e Angel Witch rocks harder than those scremo bands today

  • I like most all kinds of music. I always found Angel Witch had ideas above their station and had assumed "rock-star" status from day 1. I think they squabbled and fell out.

  • As I understand it, the problems arose from Kevin's Dad who was their Manager. They were offered a contract by EMI and he turned it down. Kevin also had the attitude that this was his band and wanted all the limelight which is why I think they ended up as a three piece.

  • Angel Witch didn't turn down the EMI deal - they signed it. But the 'Sweet Danger' 7" (on EMI) performed poorly and they were dropped again and Bronze picked them up for the debut. And AW were Kevin's band, just like Maiden are Steve Harris' band, too.

  • SabuPtolemy. Angel Witch did turn an EMI deal down. It was down to Ken Heybourne, the then AW manager and Kevin's Dad. The single was a one off and a deal was turned down because of too many restrictions. If you're in any doubt ask Dave Hogg.

  • Sounds like they turned it down for good reasons then. Nobody needs a restrictive record deal. And it's not like EMI were gonna treat AW as a priority act when Maiden were taking off like mad. Look at how little they did for Wild Horses whose EMI debut came out only 1 month after Maiden's.

  • SabuPtolemy . Wild Horses. Now there's a blast from the past .I saw them a few times and Michel Shencker and Phil Lynott were guesting onstage with them at a gig at The Electric Ballroom.

It always puzzles me as to why these giant corporations sign bands up then fail to give them the support they need. Then they're dumped for no other reason than lack of support from the very people that should be giving it to them.

  • Dec. 1, '79 @ the EBallroom? There is actually a bootleg of that show and bits are on YouTube. Wish I could've seen that show.

Signing a new band to a label is like a kid getting a shiny new toy. At first they're all excited and then it loses its luster and it's on to the next thing. In the case of Wild Horses, Robbo and Jimmy being notorious boozers and druggies probably didn't help. Not to mention that the band were probably not heavy metal enough at the time. Great music though.

  • For sure, Regardless of their lyrics, their riffage has got some serious attitude.

  • their lyrics are deep man, not all death metal emo scremo cut yourself music lyrics.

  • That was the first time listening the to the first song by this band that I have heard... that being said.. I was not saying their lyrics are'nt deep, i was merely saying regardless, meaning without considering the value of the lyrics(cause i dont know it), The riffage is Jam Packed with sweetness and atitude. I say that in case you think I was saying the lyrics are not good.

  • Furthermore I think its very ignorant of you to say such things about death metal. Not every death metal act writes their lyrics about the same stuff as for example cannibal corpse does.. Listen to Death, or Athiest, along with MANY others, and find the proof in my statement.

  • This brings back some great memories. I remember buying this album from the local pawn shop, the same year it was released, for about $2.00. The Music store went out of business, and sold everything to the pawnshop, and I purchased 1/2 the enventory from them. I was about 13yrs old... Awesome memories. LOVE IT THANK YOU

  • I have this song for a ringtone on my phone!

God bless The new wave of british heavy metal!

Thank you for giving birth to Metallica and Megadeth!

  • I have a 'Jennifer Aniston' wig similar to Kev's.

I was there - 81. I think Mr Riddles had a disco shop in Hither Green, South London, but I could be wrong.

    Best,

    Baphomet

  • Can't see Kevin Riddles in a disco shop!!!.Nice bloke talked to him many times on Girls/angel/tank tour he seemed to think we were only there to see Tank...maybe so !!!!

  • Saw Angelwitch many times in 81 on Girlschool/Angelwitch/tank British tour and Angelwitch/Tank tour....great bloke Mr Riddles

  • the singer sing not goes good with the song.good song and will be better with anothe singer.

  • the writer of the above note write does not write good.good point and will be better with anothe writer.

HAHA....sorry you have to laugh at some peoples grammer!

  • lmao, yes indeed, needs new writer!

  • Ha Ha, or indeed spelling GRAMMAR!

  • good old new wave!

  • MWOBHM!!!!

    Kick ASS!!!

  • great song

    great band

the bassist looks like jack black xD

  • Is cutted in the initial and final part :(

the song is great, and also the album is amazing!

  • Hey Tatty: how ya doin' I don't come through here much, Hope you are all OK..........Dave.

  • This is great!! Does anyone jnows where i can found this tab??

  • Wish I made promo song videos as I have a wicked idea 4 a video! Dya fink theyed reform, re-release the song & let me direct the video for them?

  • ANGEL WITCH is GOD!

  • what riff man... what happenned to rocknroll nowdays ??? every stupid is a genius just because put together some pieces of old songs with some electronic bullshit... ANGEL WITCH rules! There is nothing like british heavy metal.

  • Great band :D

All the tracks on the Angel Witch album are awesome. Dr Phibes is an excellent instrumental.

  • By the way,Dave Hogg, one time drummer of Angel Witch who is in this video, has a myspace account.

    dayvog after myspace.

  • Did he write one of the reviews on Amazon?

  • Haven't a clue

  • Someone called Hogsfoot wrote one of the reviews on Amazon and seemed to know what he was talking about. Maybe a coincidence.

  • Unfortunately this was one of their worse tracks. Flight 19 and Bhaphomet were brilliant but the album lacked a decent production. Saw them quite a few times in the late seventies and were great live as a four piece band but as with Sabbath, didn't quite hack it live as a three piece. Iron Maiden were support band on a few occasions.

  • Totally agree with you there grumpy, I had an old tape of them in Romford or somewhere that I secretly recorded and played to death in my youth. Got the T-shirt too. I'm sure I saw the guitarist strummin' to himself around a tent at Stonehenge festival in the early 80's. I could've been mistaken. Any idea where I can get MP3's of the songs you mention?

  • Errrrr rugshort, why don't you just buy the CD?

  • The only Cd I'd contemplate getting after some research is SINISTER HISTORY which apparently sounds more like "Black Sabbath played through a cement mixer". The trouble was that they never recreated this "live" sound in the studio. Subsequently this, and all their other albums - with the exception of the Sinister History's live tracks - sound far too dumbed down.

  • Kevin said at the time of the debut album that this is the sound they wanted to create which was bollox as Dave(drums) did his nut when heard the final version. As for live, like Sabbath, they were in dire need of a rhythm guitarist which they did have in Rob Downing. But Rob took too much limelight me thinks and Kevin got rid.

  • Live they blew my nuts off. Did you ever see them?

  • I saw them quite a few times as my brother played drums in Lucifer, the band that eventually became Angel Witch. If you look on AW offical myspace site, all the photos with Rob in are mine.I did start to lose interest when Rob left as I didn't think they could hack it live without a rhythm guitarist.

  • Wow, fantastic, where'd they hail from then, if it's not too stupid a question? My local was The Hermit in Brentwood, but would sometimes travel to Chelmsford, Romford and London to see gigs. Do you know much about the Sinister History album and do you have it?

  • The band were from south east London area of Lewisham. Rob and Dave still live in Lee Green. Don't have Sinister History. I didn't buy any albums apart from the debut.

  • Just downloaded some stuff. Blimey I've just connected HADES PARADISE is pure RUSH!

  • i always knew of aw now that i heard em holy fuck

  • fucking love this! I want more

  • WOW This makes me feel Even Older. Your an Angel Witch.

  • The NWOBHM was great. I used to crank this song up a lot. Still sounds amazing today. What a great song.

  • This is THE Angel Witch song!

    History... :D

    Definitely worth buying the LP!

  • I just bougth the Angel Witch LP... awesome band!

  • Great Video

  • WOW! This brings back memories!!Remember them 80's!!!

  • Thanks mate. Looking for some Angel Witch stuff never found any (yer talking about years here lol).

  • kickass lyrics . we'll all feel like dedicating this song to someone eventually ....

  • kevin"skids"riddles bassist, had a classic tshirt , he wore it all the time , something along the lines of blowjobs from alligators,ah the memories of warm beer out of plastic glasses comes to mind with this band

  • The words were 'I like oral sex with alligators'

  • Glam lyrics? What an idiot... This band used to be godly and their debut is one of the greatest metal albums ever released.

  • lol hes not insulting the song its just really corny lyrics

  • I think you missed the point, whether or not the lyrics are corny, they have nothing to do with glam.

  • i know, im saying he ment to say they were corney lyrics even though if you didnt watch the videos you'd expect them to look like chicks

  • I wouldn't expect them to look like chicks.

  • Good Lord I love this era of metal, I wish I was around during this time, me and my friends would love this stuff! Great song.

  • Thats what I wish too every day of every year :(

I should have been born in the 60's at least, and not in the late 80's because I hate nearly everything that I have grown up with. It seems things are becoming shitter, like music, tv and fashion (I would like to buy myself some flares, but I would probably get the shit kicked out of me if I was caught wearing them). There are only a couple of things I like, such as the Internet (well broadband Internet) and errr.....

  • i feel the same way :/

  • Classic Band, yeah their lyrics are a bit pants but it was the 80's!

  • I bought this album as a joke, they are histerical, Spinal Tap would be proud.

  • THEIR DEBUT IS POWER.

  • 1 week in the British chats at no.75. This takes me back to when I was in my late teens. Not a bad song, deserved to go higher in the charts.

  • hate the lyrics.

  • gets stuck in my head love it

  • shitty glam lyrics

  • dave mustaine was really into angel witch. you can definitely hear the influence this had on megadeth.

  • Angel witch are fuckin awesome

  • Come on! I can fart louder than that!

  • Great band that never made it big! Too bad!

  • never heard of them... they sound cool.

  • I always thought their other songs better than this. Inspired me to form my own band, we couldn't get any gigs as we were all too young at the time. These were the first gigs I ever went to though, my band's name was (I'm embarrased now... GOLEM) Angelwitch completely inspired me along with Rush. Unfortunately became follically challenged so had to give up headbanging, although have been known to air guitar when the feeling takes me.

  • Great besides the sound!

  • good song ...the sound sucks :|

  • Fantastic - typed Angel Witch into the search not expecting anything as good as this.

  • Cheers and thanks.keep rockin" from DAY VOG Angel Witch(DRUMS)

  • you mean YOU are Mr Hogg? Sweet Jesus, you and your buddies got me into metal.

  • are you still into it???

  • Hell yeah. I ran a Yahoo fan club for the Witch a few years back.

  • Nice-one Thanks.I'd like to talk to you more, but if i leave e-mail address, it gets deleted. I'm a bit of a novice on PC,and don't know a way round it,Do you???

  • Hi Dave, I think one way would be to put the word DOT where there's a dot in the address when you go to the users profile and send them a message. Incidentally can you tell us ow about SINISTER HISTORY? Also runs your MySpace?

    Thanks

  • Hi davey boy. Hope you are ok. Miss your company. Your old mate and vocalist Tatty

  • Sucks that the album is so expensive to purchase. EVERYWHERE is at least $17. Even the reissue.

  • somebody up there just said "the first real black metal"..maybe they had black metal imagery, but these lyrics are straight up like dokken or winger. good music though.

  • The problem is...Angel witch or lucifer as they were previosly called, were around longer than dokken or winger.

  • Angel witch kicked ass doom metal rules sabbath candelmass , witchfinder general , hanz krypt trouble saint vitus

  • Great, saw them 3 times in '79 I think, The Hermit Brentwood, Romford and Chelmsford. Goit Kevin's plectrum in Brentwood and made a tape recording in Romford which I listened to a lot and wish I still had. he was a great guitarist and I always thought the bassist was a big fucker.

  • I never got any albums by them, but really liked Baphomet, Sorceress(?), Shit, time to google me some Angelwitch.

  • Jesus! that's so cool!!

why dont people make music like that any more??

  • Wow I can't believe that even exist, that band not only a NWOBHM classic, but the first real 'black metal' band influencing Venom and Merciful Fate before the fllodgates opened with Slayer and the rest. Awesome.

  • bad ass song

  • TREASURE!!!

  • I agree, fantastic! Angel Witch are a fantastic band along with Withcfinder General.

  • I can't fuckin believe this exists. Awesome.

  • greatest band ever?

  • that is what I call music angel witch with angel witch from the album angel witch hehe :d

Listen when I say rock n' roll will live for ever but disco dies today :d

  • One of the greats, no doubt.

  • I love Angel Witch. Great Stuff.

  • Thanks Coo1, never seen this rare video before, my fave band of all time along with Sabbath. Heybourne is the unluckiest guy around, should've made it bigger in the metal world, he's still a legend.

  • NWOBHM!

  • Angel Witch, Angel Witch is undoubtedly one of the greatest and most underrated albums ever. What a gem. Get it on vinyl.

  • cool music,i just cant get into the lyrics its kinda like dokken or something.

  • Wow, cool, nice, thanks, ANGEL WITCH!!!!

  • Five stars just for being here. Looks as though this was shot well after 1980. Either that or Ozzy stole his shoulder pads and sequins idea from Kevin Riddles. Regardless, thanks!
