  • I was fortunate enough to see Sting on this tour in Birmingham, AL. Vinnie C. blew me away! There was a light rain the whole time which made songs like Fragile & King of Pain especially cool. This concert was released on vhs & I had it but it eventually fell apart. Was it ever released on dvd? Of all the concerts he's released on dvd, he somehow skipped this one.

  • this drummer is my fave of all time, and i am a metal freak, but vinnie is just phenominal

  • Needs a better drummer.....;)

  • All great musicians in that band.

  • Vinnie`s the man!

  • @spatiaalisuus the whole band is fantastic together!!! but my ears r always on dominic cuz i no him & sting r like one unit.

  • GREAT playing Vinnie! I've always found this song so interesting - it highlights more than any other the differences between Manu & Vinnie. Manu's album version is beautiful: more sparse, w/ all of his signatures: that majestic FEEL, his splashes, phrasing... Yet here, we see so many of Vinnie's signatures: the "wild" side, his unique approach, the fireworks no one else has. I admit, I do prefer Manu's feel on this song, and others. But Vinnie... wow, only HE can play Seven Days as it should be!

  • i love dis m.f :O))

  • Love Sting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(=

  • As a drummer, of course I love to watch Vinnie, but oh my goodness, what a smoking guitar player Dominic Miller is. I'm surprised that he isn't more well-known. This is just a fantastic lineup. I was fortunate enough to catch this tour in Concord, CA (near San Francisco).

  • it`s certainly some of his best bass playing - excellent stuff - I used to cover this one.

  • Soul Cages is maybe the best Sting Alboum.Manu plays on the alboum but Vinnie did an amazing job live!!!

  • Vinnie says this is perhaps his favorite track ever (the studio version).

  • gene921 is right! I have this on VHS but it's in terrible shape. I don't know why he never released this on DVD 'cause it's a great show. I got to see Sting on this tour in Birmingham, AL, in a light rain. Awesome concert! Vinnie is THE man.

  • The year is 1991, Hollywood Bowl LA, Sting's 40th birthday. Soul cages tour, Vinnie on fire like there is no tomorrow!

  • It's not the Hollywood Bowl. Sting didn't have a black t-shirt on for that - just a vest. It was broadcast on The Disney Channel in 1991. I have it on VHS and DVD somewhere.

  • The old good Jazz Bass period...

  • oh yeah! what a sweet sounding bass!!!!

  • I have it on VHS, but I'd also love to have it on DVD. I don't think it's available in that format, unfortunately.

  • is there a dvd of this?

    where can i get it??

  • IMHO, this is Sting's finest solo work. Soul Cages is impassioned, great lyrics, melodies that haunt you.

  • This and Ten summoner's tales... I think both are incredibly amazing...

  • yeah, best sting time!

  • @steelydad I agree; I own all of his solo studio albums with the exception of Songs from the Labyrinth, and The Soul Cages is by far his creative peak. Not only my favorite album by him, but probably one of my 25 favorite albums ever, if I were to create a list of them.

  • @b7160 Couldn't agree more

  • This video has to be, what, 10 years old? Sting had hair

  • its like 15 years old lol

  • i'm totally fan the music of Sting

  • Geez, Vinnie is ridiculous here...I like Manu's version a lot, but this is really different - in a good way.

  • vinnie is the best in that jazz fusion feel greap style i love them all manue stewart and omar hakim

  • whats the drummers full name?

  • Vinnie Colaiuta

  • on the keyboard...the excellent kenny kirkland..R"I"P...

  • Definately RIP Kenny Kirkland, however the keyboard player on here is David Sancious.

  • oupss...

  • listen you all stewart is god but i tottally agree

  • Fucking perfect.

  • exactly

  • This song needs Manu on drums. Seven Days needs Vinnie. I love Vinnie, but prefer Manu's approach to Jeremiah's Blues, as Manu's more loose in general, plays more relaxed during the parts where the song needs it, and Manu grooves better than just about anyone. Vinnie is just SO precise and so relentless, and, IMO, this song is better with a few helpings of loose and one of relaxed. (A *fiery* relaxed, yes... but a musician will know what is meant.)

  • Vinnie is a drummer from another planet, he's FREAKIN' AMAZING.

  • "This is Vinnie. A band is only as good as his drummer, right? Vinnie Colaiuta is one of the greatest drummers in the world or the greatest." quote from Sting himself...

  • excelente

  • Bar none the greatest Sting-solo performance.

  • the master at his finest! great band

  • Vinnie Colaiuta is one of the greatest drummers of all time!!!!!!!!!!

  • not one of the. the.

  • I think Sting himself does his best live performances with this line-up. He doesn't have to worry about anything but himself, thats for damn sure, lol

  • Seriously STING, put this concert on DVD already!! I think Sting has an aversion to releasing material where the other musicians upstage him. Vinnie kills it! That break at 3:00 makes me laugh out loud everytime..

  • how can a Drummer outstage a singer? Doesn't follow? oO if that were the case he'd outstage Sting every concert.. and so would David and Dominic coz they're awesome on their own instruments.. :S

  • Actually... Sting prides himself in hiring muscians who are way better than him. He like to say that he features artist. He wants them to shine and show them off. Thats what sets him apart from other artist. He can share the stage and show off someone elses talent.

  • Freaking awesome. One of my favorite Sting songs played by one of his greatest lineups!

  • This entire concert is unbelievable! Just about everything gets reissued these days...why not this concert on DVD in 5.1 w/bonus audio CD?!? This band was a force to be reckoned with - Sting has yet to assemble a better lineup. No longer in print (I have a VHS copy), you might still be able find it online. For all drummers out there, trust me, Vinnie OWNS it here. Enjoy.

  • Wow.. I love it. Vinnie has so much confidence in his playing, it's unreal.

  • I love when sting gets Vinnie to play drums!!

  • I WISH Sting would go back to his simple 4 piece band when it comes to live concerts. I never went to the Soul Cages concerts, but I went to see the Ten Summoners Tales tour, where it was the same line up. Stings got two legends on stage with him Dominic Miller and big Vinnie Colaiuta. They cream over any other live band. David Sancious was alright too LOL. Why oh why cant Sting go back to this. I blame Kipper and his synths.

  • You bet!!!

  • hell fukkin' yea! The only song where Sting actually slaps his bass with no mercy!

  • great solo by Dom!!

  • Wow , what a post!!! Great music (one of His best songs btw), great musicians. Great pleasure. Thanks.

  • One of my fav Vinnie performances!
