Who remmembers a sci-fi action adventure cartoon about a planet that is inhabited by canabilistical cyborg machines that love to eat metal. All machines need human flash to cover up their metallic bodies,so they would not get eaten by other cyborg machines.A blonde hero must save the planet ,kill the Machine King and resque the people underground.I saw this cartoon in 1998-1999 about twice. Can somebody help me find this catoon and other movies on YouTube?
My only gripe with this game is the final puzzle that wants you to remember a conversation from the middle of the game and even the reference itself is so cryptic. Otherwise, this was one of the greatest games I have ever played. The Sang-Drax voice used to be a mainstay in my nightmares, heh. :) Great game.
The DosBOX Adlib sound is majestic, too bad the real one is not actually all that great...
I really enjoy your reviews, but with this one I'm left wondering "what is the Death Gate and what is this game really about?" I know you probably want people to play the game, but I know I'll never have the time plus I'm more of a console bloke.
@precioumoment The game is VERY different from the books. Haplo is still cool and likable (possibly with a better sense of humor based on the dialogue choices the game gives you) but not the ultimate ass-kicker of all time that he was in the books. Samah is actually a good guy in the game (sigh, so no epic showdown with this jerk). And, as much as I hate to say it, the dog plays a very minor role in the game (weep). All the same, I didn't even hear about Deathgate until I played the game.
The voice acting is also refreshingly good. A welcome change from the often abysmal drivel that passes for voice acting on many newer games. (Neverwinter Nights 2 and Oblivion come to mind)
I wonder about one thing though... is it even possible to complete the game and get less than 1500 points?
I agree. Until recently I had almost completely forgotten about this game, despite having completed it several times when I was younger. It simply hadn't entered my mind for years.
So I decided to play through it again. Although I remembered some of the puzzles I was surprised at how exceptionally logical the puzzles were. They are simply brilliant, even compared to most of the more well-known and popular adventure games.
When I did this play though, I never even opened the options window. Guess that is why I am a amateur reviewer and not a professional. Anyway it turns out you can disable Haplo's voice independent of the rest of the audio options..
Thanks to AFGNCAAP from adventuregamers for pointing this out.
This is a repost as I made a HUGE mistake and said INFOGRAM instead of INFOCOM.... No idea how I missed this during the editing process.... Thanks go to "mxjgr" for pointing this out...
I wish they'd release a newer version of the game and have it follow the book story more closely. Or even a move series of Harry Potter length.

There is no Alfred at all in this game, beyond crazy. Still a great game.

I never played this game but I did read all 7 books in the Deathgate Cycle and recommend them highly if you like adventure fantasy novels.

Very interesting review.
A pity I never came across this when it was released.
I couldn't enjoy this as much now as I would have back then.

Excellent game all around.
The sign of a truly great adventure game is that one doesn't like to cheat but becomes determined to finish it honestly. This was one such game.
Thanks for posting!
