Just think about it, what happens when most of today's information is made electronic? No need to burn, no need to write, no need to store/put away. But it jsut seems like "hey, doesn't this seem familliar?" It may be my personal lack of knowledge, but cultures older than our own already accept this as fact, and if they don't, they're dead.
@zzaacc44 Basically he's saying we're hitting a sort of transition point where when we look back, history will be nothing more then what he says "an episode in the life of a species"...that's all it is. History is the Cocoon of civilization. A span of time where the human species grows and matures to a point where we change dramatically or at least begin to change into something more capable and closer to what mother nature envisioned for us to begin with.
This presentation has been brought to you by... The letter H! now smoke some weed and enjoy! :) I want to have sex with Mckenna's words. What an orgasm that'd be.
yes, time seems to be speeding up, and speeding up, becoming more and more frantic and exiting....according to the Time-Line Zero concept....until it feels like things are moving soooo fast and furiously...that you almost feel a kind of orgasmic experience coming on...yes..thats a good analogy...so..there won't be an 'end of the world'...but there will be a post orgasm feeling of calm and spirtual enlightenment..it could just be the ultimate..."Aaaaahhhhhh...Yesssss..." (chuckle)
does anyone know what the title of this recording is? I would like to buy it, but I have not been able to identify what recording this is from since he had so many lectures available.
apples with oranges. he was on to something intuitively that i believe we all have information now that it's not just accidental or based on natural selection/evolution the acceleration is not history, notice he doesn't put a time frame on history it's being directed. i.e. predermination. perhaps we're all protazoa in a biology class of a super extraterrestrial power.they may control our fate, but we control the nuances. power of the dimension. like the atom.
Wow. Terence McKenna is absolutely one of the greatest and most understanding minds of modern man. He has such a clear vision of consciousness...every single time I listen to his words my mind explodes into 'impossibility'. I feel a worldwide shift in consciousness around the bend. Push it!
His message is so simple but so deep, simply turn your back on your culture, and go fourth direct experience, don't be marginalized into another cultural subscription member, "make your own damn boat" - T.Mckenna.
forced to drop the past and think new- think for themselvs. You could learn more information in a day on your own than what was taugh in a year long ago (exageration) RAPID SPEED=TIME EXCELLERATION+ GROWTH OF CONSCIOUSNESS
Using our imagination we give life to it. Look at us using telepathy right now through the computer... There's a vid somehwere on here of a guy sending a tweet directly through his mind.
usually I dont comment on these things but this is kind of silly. time doenst go faster thats like saying miles are shorter. these ideas and facts have always existed in potential. just because one small part of the cosmos seems to have "sped up" mkennas very smart stuff but this is short sided and egotistical in conclusion i like boobies
Time can infact go faster (or slower), as relativity has proven. Annnywho this has nothing to do with time going faster or slower it's about how much change is happening in certain periods. The reason you find this short sided and egotistical is because you believe our existence is accidental or of no great importance. Terrence on the other hand believes we are of upmost importance and on the cutting edge of the progression of this reality.
doesnt relativity prove that time is subjective (I could be wrong) just because you see something as "a" subjectively that doesnt mean it's not "b" objectively. also i guess im not sayig we are of no greeat importance i just believe in the interconnectedness of all things (see buddha) one grain no mattter how peculiar is not the beach. please reply
well one thing relativity did prove is that time is not fixed but rather fluid. i would agree a grain of sand does have some intrinsic value but the reason i think we are of more important than a grain of sand is because we are clearly 1,000,000 times more complex than a grain of sand. would you rather throw a grain of sand on a fire or a human? most logical people would agree a human is definitely of more importance. reason being is we are the most conscious beings on this planet.
@BallinTrollin LOL, thats exactly what i have been doing for the past few months (no joke!), its just that im in Costa Rica, dont really care who believes me, u just made me laugh so hard, i wasnt gonna smoke tonight, but for YOU my friend im starting to roll one right now! jamaican ftw
Therefore our environment and history are at the whelm of our decisions. we dictate what direction history moves in, what animals live and die, if we research artificial intellegence or smoke pot all day. and we are responsible for any mishaps that happen.
this is getting good. I guess my point is that i believe we are not the only force that influences even our influence. Other peoples decisions affect my own. I that when people believe they are fully responsible for their actions the miss the fact that there are literally infinite other factors in even the smallest decision. in other words life is a democracy not a dictatorship.
I would disagree. When you say "I am responsible for my actions" then you must first know what "i" is. if you believe in interconnectedness then you have to take back your argument that "other peoples decisions affect my own" because it is contradictory to your beliefs. You are the other person and so it is just you effecting yourself.
a dictatorship with the illusion of being democracy would be more accurate. so, when you look at the universe as one and not individual parts you will begin to see that it is complexifying at an accelerated rate as a whole towards some limit as terrence suggested.
LoL haha funghi? the bible? what does a bible have to do with any of this? did you even watch the video? at no point of your during your incoherent attempt to criticize me did i understand what you were talking about. anyway, have a good day my friend.

I love how everyone on here talks about these drugs made then expand and etc. ok..........? How and what contributions have you made to civilization. Please quit rambling it is highly annoying.
Well to be fair, you can't judge which Contributions they have made. Like Mckenna said, everyone, by doing it, contibutes a part but these parts are relatively small compared to the whole, if on can define whole. But even those things can have effects.
do some research into the question and perhaps you'll be surprised, especially in the realm of high tech computing and silicon valley related ventures. lots and lots of psychedelic use in the roots and flowering of the digital tech world. also, search for things related to 'dna structure discovered under lsd'. not to mention all the scientific and related contributions that wouldn't be recognized as their forgers obviously would not admit to academia they had 'aid'. and obviously art/music.
this man is brilliant and its no wonder his spirit was taken from this earth, probably to serve some higher purpose in our universe an he did all he could for us
DMT may open up parts of the mind that relieve you of anxiety and depression but I have to say just listening and thinking about what Terence Mckenna has to say has relieved me a bit of both. So me he is a legit guy.
its all a matter of where your imagination takes you. you could quite possibly enter a future of hell on earth or heaven on earth it begins with your mind set. just think positive and positive things will come your way.
I've been really angry lately though, I don't know why, but since 2008 and I've turned into an angry person! Maybe I should have a DMT trip it might show me some stuff
ive never had DMT before but ive heard from sources that it does some waht unlock certian parts of your brain gets rid of anxiety and depression. i thnk ayhuasca also has the same effect.
Hmmm, it is a really crazy substance. Like when we die it's pumped in large amounts in our brain? But maybe angriness et cetera would make me have a bad trip, just like LSD but like exponentially stronger?
If you wish to understand more about this...a really good place to start is to track down a lecture by Ian Zel Lundgold on Mayan Evolution of Consciousness Calender on YT or watch the... 2012 Online Movie on YT and then follow up on speakers information ...Terence McKenna also has information as Ian does but I am unsure of a specific lecture that he has posted.....
McKenna is a true shaman, i humbly LOVE his messages of enlightenment, of peace, of going for direct experience, and take responsibility for what you think and believe, Remove the wall's that keep enlightenment out friends. Peace
I don't see anything wrong with it, on top of that I even made an album of terence mckenna audio combined with music I found on jewtube. Now I listen to it at work from time to time.
'Kermit-kicked-in-the-balls' was a crude metaphor to describe Mr. McKenna's voice.
As for your stance on drugs and personal choice, I wholeheartedly agree. The disagreement stems from the perception that certain psychadelics somehow open a 'portal' or 'rift' to another dimension and allow some type of contact with aliens, etc. That's all.
psychadelics certainly do something wierd...ive had a several valid experiences and reelations while "high" that sirvived scrutiny in the morning and even to this day with as much comparison to scientific theories and principles as i could muster..with the help of a plant, so theres definitly something useful to the psychadelic experience
your marginalizing yourself into thinking you know a hell of a lot more than you do. spare everyone the headache of this "its JUST all in your head" stuff. you mind giving a truly rational argument to back up such an idea that doesn't have this arrogant sniff to it based upon unchecked assumptions. how much certainty do really think you have here? spare everyone the unbending ultra-rationalism and accept there is more to picture here than material reality, that no one knows whats going on..
so are you a McKenna supporter, sympathizer, or follower? Do you beleive in his theories and ideas?
I am not an unbending ultra-rationalist. McKenna's interperetations of his psychadelic experiences are entirely subjective. He postulated that psilocybin was somehow responsible for a 'phase change' in human evolution. Highly unlikely? Undoubtedly. Entertaining? For sure. Correct? Probably not.
i think your are just kind of writing off what he talks about. he has a complicated message that is of course completely tentative and its based on his perception and thus is subjective.
is really so unreasonable to believe that it was psilocybin that was responsible for the 'phase change?
its not like we will ever know of course but i think a bit more worthy than just highly unlikely.
im open minded, and don't have 'beliefs' in the sense i KNOW something to be absolute, i mean its all opinion
If you leave the tunnel wide open for too long, however, you can get lost, and lose track of what to focus your clean senses on in order to better yourself and the people around you.
Psychedelics put me in a state of mind where I can more easily contemplate a wider array of perspectives on reality and imaginary concepts. Those perspectives, and their ideas, were already there, but were blocked by day to day stress and anxieties. And so,LSD,for instance, opened up this tunnel vision so I could take a look at a bigger picture.
Reality is based on your perception and you people who are going out of your way to slag it off clearly have a lack of understanding of the crisis that our world is in.
Drugs are here to be used. Drug use doesn't necessarily mean ABuse.
People function best, mentally and physically when they are happy. Enlightenment happens when people are happy. Drugs can (in intelligent people who know how to use them productively) make thinking more clear and altering your perception of reality doesn't necessarily make things ridiculously unreal.
whaddaya mean 'leaves out' this whole shtick is evolutionary. hey, take it easy, he was a self admitted schizo and apologetic of his own clowny nature, but he is thoroughly entertaining, and capable of many narrative tricks. i was thoroughly put off by him when i first heard of his 2012 thing, but years later i found out that this guy is so paradoxical that it hurts, that he is entirely sane in many many respects, yet.. it's a wonderful feature, check out his entire lectures, they are fuckinfun!
Of course there's been more change since 1960 than in the previous six thousand years! Hello! With technology comes accessibility, with accessibility comes mass-communication, and with mass-communication comes CHANGE! Jesus Christ on the cross, this guy sounds like Kermit-kicked-in-the-balls.
He claims that we jumped down from the jungle canopy and began munching on psilocybin-containing mushrooms found growing near the poo-poo of certain wildlife..And furthermore nad no actual research to back up his claims; he's just a 'shaman'.
Boy oh boy, if modern science embraced his shamanistic views we'd really be in more trouble than we're in right now.
historical evidence stands pretty strong that both humans and animals use drugs from medicine to intoxicants, and in the human case, to invoke our metal machineries to many many purposes. the only real controversy is that mckenna suggests that the psilocybin(or a geographical analogue) created the physiological change itself that set us most quantitatively and qualitatively apart from our closet ancestors. i think it's irrelevant; drugs has created religions+art+culture all over the world.
uh huh. you keep dropping that acid and firing back those great retorts. drugs have fucked your brain over badly. you've wasted your chance to do something productive on some silly chemical, fuck-wit.
science and mckenna are perfect bed mates, they are both HIGH on ILLUSION within NON-ORDINARY reality. I honor those who do the same thing, but completely with self respect, self love and balance. Being a drug addict is not balance, I don't care how much you defend it.
there's a difference between a drug addict and a drug enthusiast. Psychedelic substances (what mckenna used) have long been known to not be addictive substances. I agree being a drug addict is not balance, mckenna was not an addict though.
Psychedelics do create literal illusions but its the experience overall and how it temporarily changes your perspective so radically that makes it a powerful tool.

you're just using 'ol terrence as an excuse to do all the drugs you want and not confront the truth. look at yourself objectively and name one positive thing that any of these hallucinogens and psychadelics have brought you..oh wait, you've seen the 'chrysanthemum', WOW. the only respect you're ever going to get is going to come from other drug-heads in your little circle, and if you're happy with that, then by all means. i've lived your side of things and i'd much rather be in THIS reality.
If you don't mind, could you share with us your experience with psychedelics? You seem very outspoken against their usage, maybe you should share your individual story with us since you are so eager to preach to others your side of things.

aewester said 'If someone is searching, let them search.'
searching for what? what have you found? oh, aliens or god, you say? substantiate it! the only answers you 'think' you've found are a result of these chemicals you take bombarding your brain and causing neurons and other brain elements to go completely fucking bonkers.
your right, he is like worshiping a 55 year old alcoholic drug addict, he wouldn't know clarity and discernment from a hole in the ground. Anyone who likes him, does the BUDDHA BONG TRIP, take a hit and then worship buddha and NEVER works on their own Emotional Issues because their stuck in their fucking head all the time and its all clouded with DRUGS
Easy..Probability. Everyone has their theories, but in the end, only one will be correct. I'll play the odds and put this crackpot in the same category as the others.
Strange..I get no sense of a crack pot when I think about Terence Mckenna. Too better your odds of understanding our psychedelic world, I suggest you pay attention to more of Terence's youtubes...he makes more sense then we can give ourselves credit for understanding alot of the time. If you disagree then by all means, please enjoy your alternative point of view =)
This guy obviously was a very intelligent man, but he is not god he doesnt know everything. He only has his opinion that could be true or half true. No matter how much we try to find truth we will only scratch surface. Now take that has "my" opinion it doesnt mean im wrong but does it mean im right?
I think the same thing too mainly because I have moved from one country to the other. And have an outside look on the materialistic society we live in. I hate how western society is so vain and ego driven, the way people are so competitive and in it for them selves sickens me. But just because you are part of the system doesn't mean you have to think like them. Thank for your comment I no longer feel like I am alone.

Terence likes to mix phenomenon up,
apples with oranges. he was on to something intuitively that i believe we all have information now that it's not just accidental or based on natural selection/evolution the acceleration is not history, notice he doesn't put a time frame on history it's being directed. i.e. predermination. perhaps we're all protazoa in a biology class of a super extraterrestrial power.they may control our fate, but we control the nuances. power of the dimension. like the atom.

Wow. Terence McKenna is absolutely one of the greatest and most understanding minds of modern man. He has such a clear vision of consciousness...every single time I listen to his words my mind explodes into 'impossibility'. I feel a worldwide shift in consciousness around the bend. Push it!

usually I dont comment on these things but this is kind of silly. time doenst go faster thats like saying miles are shorter. these ideas and facts have always existed in potential. just because one small part of the cosmos seems to have "sped up" mkennas very smart stuff but this is short sided and egotistical in conclusion i like boobies
ignorantsavage 2 years ago
time is an illusion
GlobalAscension2012 2 years ago 3
Time can infact go faster (or slower), as relativity has proven. Annnywho this has nothing to do with time going faster or slower it's about how much change is happening in certain periods. The reason you find this short sided and egotistical is because you believe our existence is accidental or of no great importance. Terrence on the other hand believes we are of upmost importance and on the cutting edge of the progression of this reality.
Krahl123 2 years ago
doesnt relativity prove that time is subjective (I could be wrong) just because you see something as "a" subjectively that doesnt mean it's not "b" objectively. also i guess im not sayig we are of no greeat importance i just believe in the interconnectedness of all things (see buddha) one grain no mattter how peculiar is not the beach. please reply
ignorantsavage 2 years ago
well one thing relativity did prove is that time is not fixed but rather fluid. i would agree a grain of sand does have some intrinsic value but the reason i think we are of more important than a grain of sand is because we are clearly 1,000,000 times more complex than a grain of sand. would you rather throw a grain of sand on a fire or a human? most logical people would agree a human is definitely of more importance. reason being is we are the most conscious beings on this planet.

Therefore our environment and history are at the whelm of our decisions. we dictate what direction history moves in, what animals live and die, if we research artificial intellegence or smoke pot all day. and we are responsible for any mishaps that happen.
Krahl123 2 years ago
this is getting good. I guess my point is that i believe we are not the only force that influences even our influence. Other peoples decisions affect my own. I that when people believe they are fully responsible for their actions the miss the fact that there are literally infinite other factors in even the smallest decision. in other words life is a democracy not a dictatorship.
ignorantsavage 2 years ago
I would disagree. When you say "I am responsible for my actions" then you must first know what "i" is. if you believe in interconnectedness then you have to take back your argument that "other peoples decisions affect my own" because it is contradictory to your beliefs. You are the other person and so it is just you effecting yourself.
Krahl123 2 years ago
which explains why the nature vs nurture argument gets nowhere. it isnt one or the other, its both.
ignorantsavage 2 years ago
a dictatorship with the illusion of being democracy would be more accurate. so, when you look at the universe as one and not individual parts you will begin to see that it is complexifying at an accelerated rate as a whole towards some limit as terrence suggested.
Krahl123 2 years ago
that sounds a bit like our democracy. lol

That's all.
stok3d99 3 years ago
psychadelics certainly do something wierd...ive had a several valid experiences and reelations while "high" that sirvived scrutiny in the morning and even to this day with as much comparison to scientific theories and principles as i could muster..with the help of a plant, so theres definitly something useful to the psychadelic experience
phobosx12 3 years ago 4
your marginalizing yourself into thinking you know a hell of a lot more than you do. spare everyone the headache of this "its JUST all in your head" stuff. you mind giving a truly rational argument to back up such an idea that doesn't have this arrogant sniff to it based upon unchecked assumptions. how much certainty do really think you have here? spare everyone the unbending ultra-rationalism and accept there is more to picture here than material reality, that no one knows whats going on..
ItsJustARide314 3 years ago 4
so are you a McKenna supporter, sympathizer, or follower? Do you beleive in his theories and ideas?
I am not an unbending ultra-rationalist. McKenna's interperetations of his psychadelic experiences are entirely subjective. He postulated that psilocybin was somehow responsible for a 'phase change' in human evolution. Highly unlikely? Undoubtedly. Entertaining? For sure. Correct? Probably not.
stok3d99 3 years ago
i think your are just kind of writing off what he talks about. he has a complicated message that is of course completely tentative and its based on his perception and thus is subjective.
is really so unreasonable to believe that it was psilocybin that was responsible for the 'phase change?
its not like we will ever know of course but i think a bit more worthy than just highly unlikely.
im open minded, and don't have 'beliefs' in the sense i KNOW something to be absolute, i mean its all opinion
ItsJustARide314 3 years ago
If you leave the tunnel wide open for too long, however, you can get lost, and lose track of what to focus your clean senses on in order to better yourself and the people around you.
bloodrocuted 3 years ago
Psychedelics put me in a state of mind where I can more easily contemplate a wider array of perspectives on reality and imaginary concepts. Those perspectives, and their ideas, were already there, but were blocked by day to day stress and anxieties. And so,LSD,for instance, opened up this tunnel vision so I could take a look at a bigger picture.
bloodrocuted 3 years ago 3
Reality is based on your perception and you people who are going out of your way to slag it off clearly have a lack of understanding of the crisis that our world is in.
Lolirolio 3 years ago
Drugs are here to be used. Drug use doesn't necessarily mean ABuse.
People function best, mentally and physically when they are happy. Enlightenment happens when people are happy. Drugs can (in intelligent people who know how to use them productively) make thinking more clear and altering your perception of reality doesn't necessarily make things ridiculously unreal.
Lolirolio 3 years ago 2
Oh yeah, this guy touts natural selection but leaves out evolution..Jesus.
stok3d99 3 years ago
whaddaya mean 'leaves out' this whole shtick is evolutionary. hey, take it easy, he was a self admitted schizo and apologetic of his own clowny nature, but he is thoroughly entertaining, and capable of many narrative tricks. i was thoroughly put off by him when i first heard of his 2012 thing, but years later i found out that this guy is so paradoxical that it hurts, that he is entirely sane in many many respects, yet.. it's a wonderful feature, check out his entire lectures, they are fuckinfun!

He claims that we jumped down from the jungle canopy and began munching on psilocybin-containing mushrooms found growing near the poo-poo of certain wildlife..And furthermore nad no actual research to back up his claims; he's just a 'shaman'.
Boy oh boy, if modern science embraced his shamanistic views we'd really be in more trouble than we're in right now.
stok3d99 3 years ago
historical evidence stands pretty strong that both humans and animals use drugs from medicine to intoxicants, and in the human case, to invoke our metal machineries to many many purposes. the only real controversy is that mckenna suggests that the psilocybin(or a geographical analogue) created the physiological change itself that set us most quantitatively and qualitatively apart from our closet ancestors. i think it's irrelevant; drugs has created religions+art+culture all over the world.

science and mckenna are perfect bed mates, they are both HIGH on ILLUSION within NON-ORDINARY reality. I honor those who do the same thing, but completely with self respect, self love and balance. Being a drug addict is not balance, I don't care how much you defend it.
SHAMANDREAMKEEPER 3 years ago
there's a difference between a drug addict and a drug enthusiast.
