@desdes24 no you cannot. eggs bought from supermarkets are unfertilized. even if they were fertilized they would be dead because of the lack of warmth. its amazing how specific the conditions have to be for eggs to hatch

i just started raising chick this year. We oorderd some easter egg chicks and red stars. We got them at 72 hours old so we have yet to witness the mirical of hatching. But raising them is so fun. =D

if you live in the farmlands (like me) its ok cuz i know a lot of people who have their own pet chickens, the city is another story, you can only keep hens and as long as you live away from public places like schools and churches.

The main purpose that a hen serves for her chicks is warmth (a little instruction but not much)....the heat lamp is the replacement mommy.
