As much as I love Sigourney, I am glad that her time with Ripley has ended because of the last one. She was part clone of Ripley and part Alien. Her character essentially died with part 3. I can't wait to see Ridley Scott's new vision.

Alien 3 did its best to ruin Aliens ending but at least gave us a new one. Ressurrection ruined that one as well and didn't provide any new closure, being a set-up for a Aliens-on-earth sequel.
Now with 3 official sequels and 2 spin-offs we still don't know ANYTHING about the Space Jockeys and the Aliens origins
An alien movie without ripley is not an alien movie. Even if i am a big fan of alien, i dont want to see this movie. And when i know that damon lindelof re-write the script, the guy who destroy the final of LOST.... I'm scared about this alien prequel.

"Get away from her you bitch" conveys the similarities of the humans and the aliens. Riply's juxtiposition against the Alien Queen and thier competing maternal instincts which cause the final conflict in the movie is an interesting analysis of what might translate from us to an alien life form.
The lines you quoted were good too. You just aren't good with dialogue.

Everything about the second movie was superior, particularly the dialogue and character development. There isn't one character from the first movie as well developed as Hicks, including Riply, who was barely fleshed out in Alien, and the other characters were totaly two deminsional.

I believe you have already forseen this image in your wonderfully imaginative subconsciousness, however I would like to reinforce the idea of the character played by Winona Ryder being a tribute to a hero from the first encounter with this species that saved the Earth from being infested. We(being the company) know they exist previous to "Alien". Please consider Diane F Newton as her resemblance to the latest artificial person in uncanny and would make the story.
This might sound stupid but you could write a prequel story where Ripley's in it and got her memory wiped out by the company, and then they'll throw her out there again on the Nostromo to see if she can survive the second time around, i know it sounds cheasy but it would give her a chance to be a part of the story.

Yes, we can. Why one or another framchise should always be with the same actor or same character? The movie and only one character or one actor is two different things. Predator 2 without Arnie was good - different but good. Terminator Salvation had it's minuses not because T-800 was only for several minutes, Batman movies had different actors even for Batman/Bruce Wayne. So there is no need to do tragedy or say that Alien franchise is doomed without Ripley.

I hope it doesn't spoil the mystery of the alien origin. That's the WHOLE point of the first movie. You don't know where it came from. Its all abstract with the ship and the space jockey, so dark and mysterious.

I am going to be just as scarred (not scared, scarred) after watching this no doubt as I was when I accidentally watched the first 20mins of Alien3 when I was 7, which promptly ruined my life! This film could be very very cool but also very very shit. Fingers crossed! As for weaver, she also scares the shit out of me. How can a woman who looks like that, who's always been a bit masculine, still make you want to shag her?!

Wait...what? You people want Sigourney in the Alien Prequel? Haven't you guys even seen the first Alien? That's where she first comes into contact with these things. it would make no sense whatsoever if she was to be in it. And don't even mention having her at the end of the film because we all know exactly how the crew arrives at the planet.
You can't just throw in a mix of actors and an alien, that's how bad movies are made. You need to consider a solid story.

It's not a prequel anymore anyway...It's called "Prometheus" and it features Space Jockeys and Aliens but it's not a real, Alien-centered, prequel.
Besides, Alien Resurrection feat. Sigourney was the biggest dud anyone could take on the franchise, besides AVP of course...

I understand the fears most of you have about Ripley's abscence in this film. As good a director as Ridley Scott is and as good an actress as Sigourney Weaver is, they can't make her look younger than she was in Alien, I mean come on! Let's just hope geiger is involved to make things look amazing.

im going to assume none of you guys have read the updates to prometheus. this movie is going to be an epic, hardcore sci-fi horror film. it might even be better than the original alien. h.r. giger heavily involved doing his always amazing work with the xenomorph. and ofcourse ridley scott directing. this is the recipe for a great alien film. and as much as i love sigourney, it wouldnt make sense for her character to be involved in the franchise anymore. its just not needed.

I believe you have already forseen this image in your wonderfully imaginative subconsciousness, however I would like to reinforce the idea of the character played by Winona Ryder being a tribute to a hero from the first encounter with this species that saved the Earth from being infested. We(being the company) know they exist previous to "Alien". Please consider Diane F Newton as her resemblance to the latest artificial person in uncanny and would make the story.

This might sound stupid but you could write a prequel story where Ripley's in it and got her memory wiped out by the company, and then they'll throw her out there again on the Nostromo to see if she can survive the second time around, i know it sounds cheasy but it would give her a chance to be a part of the story.
Anyway we'll see how it goes my expectations have been none since Alien Resurection(Erection)

@1234legend1234 Yes. I got the Bluray Alien Anthology, and the booklet is introduced by Scott, and he mentions the making of the prequel. The only hope here is that the Fox give him as much freedom as possible to make it as he wants to.

Yes, we can. Why one or another framchise should always be with the same actor or same character? The movie and only one character or one actor is two different things. Predator 2 without Arnie was good - different but good. Terminator Salvation had it's minuses not because T-800 was only for several minutes, Batman movies had different actors even for Batman/Bruce Wayne. So there is no need to do tragedy or say that Alien franchise is doomed without Ripley.

I really hope Ridley goes back to everything that started it, including getting rid of Cameron's treating them like space bugs with queens and drones. Instead, he should return the adaptive, hybrid organism with egg-morphing and whatever it was doing to lambert in the first film and them actually having intelligence. The creature was more interesting that way and like Weaver said, we need to see the Alien homeplanet.

one of the production team for this film came to my works in slough the other day saying he was from pinewood studios.He needed to but tones of piping for the set of the aliens.he told me they have spent £32,000 on vehicle wheels alone. fantastic stuff

AvP sucked Predators are attracted to heat and Conflict ! Not the North Pole! in the middle of nowhere! And Predators was fucking Horrible too! James Cameron wana be ass movie! gimme a break! the body count in Predator 2 alone was Epic and not to mention in that we actually got to see Predator(S) all 13 of them detailed and looking good! Not to mention all the New weapons in Pred 2 he was using that was taken and used in AvP!

dont do it it will be a bust like the avp movies(rather have it remain the imaginbation of the audience). Need an actual avp movie that doesnt reflect the budget status of the cheap economy. Take star wars for example, what is better the original triology or the prequels? The original trilogy of course! even with weaver in it, it will not full fill or match the originals and end up with short comings. Press forward with an avp movie than follows from predator 2 and alienressurection.NOPYRAMID

Maybe they just need another bad ass bitch to take her place (big shoes to fill) and now the more I think about it...they probably should make the main character a male this time....nobody can top the performance of siggy as far as females go.
