LOL at the guy with the WWII German cap, talking about the "German heritage" of today's US military night vision devices, as if the US infrared scopes in WWII never existed. The US infrared scopes were developed independently of the German ones. I wish The Military Channel would stop relying upon fanboys and re-enactors for their information.
Today's night vision scopes are totally different concept anyway.
StG44 Vampyr ZG1229 InfaRed Night Vision System 7.92x33mm WW2 1946 North Africa My Video Of The Vampyr!- but one thing youtubers or Hitsulikeapunch , did the vampyr see red or was it green like todays Night Vision ?
@PrepSurvivor the american ones or german ones? the russians also had their own nv scopes they mounted on the ppsh41. Dont know too much about them tho, information is somewhat scarce.
@PrepSurvivor well given that this needs a huge ass battery pack which is heavy plus a huge IR spotlight and the starlight only utilizes moonlight and makes it brighter i dont really see any competition between the two i mean what are ya gonna take a huge ass scope or a huge ass spotlight on a scope plus a battery pack
if they had infrared nightvision in ww2 it kinda makes you wonder what kind of cool shit they really got now that they um forgot to tell us about haha
They had them ... in the comics; look at Marvel Comics villain Baron Heinrich Zemo. Germany might have won the war in Europe if a) they had pooled and checked their resources more properly, and b) if they hadn't started attacking in all directions at once.
@Hitsulikeapunch Once teleporters are invented... guns that never run out of ammo is next. Just attach a small teleporter to your gun and that teleporter is connected to an armory. Now, you've got an entire armory of ammunition. However, ammo is useless if the one holding the gun is dead. Try inventing a protective suit first.

I wonder how it's combat performance would stack up against the early US-made "starlight" IR scopes, the technology is somewhat comparable.
How good were these "Vampir" scopes?

The reason they had night vision scopes is because they were secretly fighting off zombies invasions too.

AEG did that, they began the development in early 1930.
