I'm so sick of Jeter's catch being overblown. It wasn't even the best catch of that game. Pokey Reese made a catch similar to his, except he was actually diving AS he caught it. Jeter made a nice running catch, took 500 steps, and stumbled into the stands. And don't even get me started on Juan Uribe's catch in '05. Bottom of ninth, 1-0 game, clinching game of World Series, tying run on 2nd. He practically ran a mile to get to that ball, and caught it AS he was falling into stands - on the road.

The Mays catch WAS a great one though. The distance he covered, catching a ball most thought he wouldn't reach, followed by an excellent throw, both of which saved runs. And his timing for the catch of course is why we still remember it.
