The best thing is to build a repertoire while maintaining the improvisational interest that you've got that you've got. I've never heard any 15 year old with the improvisation technicality that you've got. It's quite amazing. Learn more fluid lines to add some rhythmic variety to your improv. Take, for example, "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd. Gilmour's solo is amazing, because it's so strong and just badass. Keep up the badass work.
You should probbably slow down some times too show that you are a little more creative than just running scales up and and down really fast, but knowing that this was an audition, it's fully understandable.
But dude, you were 15! I am 15 now, and you frickin shredded the crap out of me! How good could you possibly be today!? XD
You exert great technique and skill in general, but you should definitely take a step forward and listen to what the greats have done. And I don't mean shredders.
I'm positive that Berklee would be more impressed with someone who CAN play fast, but that doesn't always do so. There's a certain element of 'feel' and diversity come in to play when aspiring to be more than the ordinary.

ou're young and talented, so you have lots of time to learn.
yeah i'd have to agree with these other guys.... more notes isn't always better.....kinds sounded like a lot of exercises, just didn't go anywhere.... started with a ton of notes, the body was a ton of notes...... and finished with guess what... a bunch of notes...... maturity will bring less notes.
yeah only criticism I can offer is play less notes..people don't like to hear just a barrage of notes for two and a half minutes. think about phrasing, dynamics, and when you improv try to create an idea, a melodic line and expand upon it
ive been sitting here watching a bunch of these auditions for berklee....why does everyone feel the need to play REALLY fast???? soloing should be as natural as talking. You gota take a breath sometime.
speed wont get you a place in berklee man, its how musical your playing is, and really all i can hear is you playing scales up and down at crazy speeds. your good, but slow it down.
I didn't hear a lot of mistakes, so I can't see what some of you guys are complaining about. That absolutely rocked!
Of course, a little variation in tempo and style would be beneficial, but I'm sure he'll explore a lot of different stuff as he learn. I think he's done the right think by building up a confidence in technique, precision and feel first.
I'd say you're destined for awesomeness, ryangasbarro!
You have a lot of talent man! My advice is try to slow it down and choose phrases.
You sound like a guitarist, which is the most common instrument there is, in other words, the more you phrase melodically, the greater you will stand out.
You gotta remember to make it in music you must have fans and people get bored fast watching people show off their technique.
Ultimately, music is about sound, not visuals and playing fast is pretty much 80% visually appealing. Ears like melody and rhythm
This is pretty good for a fifteen year old yeah, but try to vary your improvising. If it's blues it shouldn't be rippin' all the time. Try using some chromaticism into the major 6th or the major 3rd instead of sticking to aeolian. You do sound good though, nice legato.
it sounds clean to be more accurate, he's playing all those legato "shred" lines extremely well but shred has it's time and place. However, blues just isn't the time or place.
Where did you learn to play man? I'm 15 as well, self taught with one old teacher who taught me the pentatonic and my major modes but that was it. My only option is to take online courses, or I'l suck.
It's mostly centered around the Aeolian mode. But you can hear him using some pentatonic ideas.
But he adds some chromatics in there too. Wether intentional or otherwise. So occasionally that would make for the harmonic minor (+7th) or Dorian (+6th).
Anyway, I LOVE his legato phrasing. Like.. right at 50-54 was my favourite moment.
Wow. Def got skills bro, but your gonna have to work on phrasing and not just running scales. Playing fast is impressive but over and over again just gets annoying. Keep working on your shit though, you got definate skills.
Why so many dislikes? This guy plays clean and great

quite a lot of mistakes in those fast runs as well... its just the speed covers them up a bit.

too many fast runs you gotta slow it down sometimes to throw in some variety dude.
