I wouldn't use a laser. Get good at using your irons and a red dot. A laser will give away your position and make u an easy target. Yeah they are good for close range quick shooting but I would put a focus on learning to shoot with nothing but irons first.

Endtimewatchman, while I share your views in some of these things, I highly recommend that you do NOT take an assault rifle with you in a time of BOB/SHTF. I would recommend a bolt action .22 with subsonic ammo, and a Bersa Firestorm like pisol in the same caliber (See if sub sonic ammo will cycle through it). The reason being that you can carry a lot more ammo, and if you hunt, you can remain undetected (See the homemade silencer vid).

they are both "30-30" equive rounds, used in the same "class" of firearm, but are quite diff ballisticaly, and in other area's

the .223 was chossen for weight/cost, easy to make in brass, and is a little bullet going really fast, like the .17, or the 5.7, extending range to over 350, and lending to accuracy.

The 762 has tremendus velocity, and mass 50 yards or so, and the bullet will not go over 325ish, without tens of feet of drop. 0-100, total pwnage

I am studying to be a conservation officer and non-restricted firearms are legal in the backcountry. I on many occasions do not carry a firearm because who are we to shoot a animal because we think it may attack us? We go into their habitat and try to play God on the food chain. It is safe to go into the back country with out a gun just be smart about it and keep the leave no trace principles in mind. In alberta coyotes are pest species and dont require a liscense to kill. get your facts right
