I first heard "Mermaid" while visiting the AMC theater in southeast Houston in 1998. Their in-house radio station often played songs promoting relatively unknown artists. I later looked up the CD and ordered it.

this song is on the soundtrack of various artists for the movie "Message In a Bottle" - which stars Kevin Costner and Paul Newman. I have loved this song since I first heard it and must have played it a hundred times.......other great tunes on the CD too by the way
