I disagree. The two games rivaled each other back in the 90s because of their similar gameplay styles. There were constant debates over whether old Mario or old Sonic were better. I guess sega and nintendo started to use them both in the same game to settle the disputes or something.

For those of you who are considering buying this game: I say get it but here's the thing. Some of the olympic games are painfully boring and tedious (like curling bleh). On the other hand, there are fun events like bobsleighing and figure skating (both of which are even more fun in the dream events). If you don't plan on playing with other people, aren't really that big a fan of sonic or mario, or not that into winter olympic games, then don't get it.

Wii sports resort is good incase future games like Red Steel dont come packed with a motion plus, but its basically an exasperated tech demo like wii sports was. Sonic and Mario at the winter games has too much waggle crap but its a good game. Honestly its a tough choice. I would say get sonic and mario now and get wii sports resort later when you can when more motion plus games are out to use your new add on.
